Top Cat

Top Cat the titular leader of the gang. He is a cat with yellow fur and a white muzzle. He usually wears a Tyrian purple vest and a matching pork pie hat with a black band. The hat seems to have holes for his ears to poke through. His cheeks hold two strands of fur curved up and away from his face, similar to Benny. Though his eyes are colored stylistic black,

Top Cat is a smooth-talking, witty cat. He has a great sense of humor cracking jokes throughout the show. He also has great determination, in that, instead of getting a job, he searches for opportunities to get rich quick and creates elaborate plans for such, often paying no regard to the consequences of his actions. Though his attempts at making fast profit often lead him to trouble, T.C. can nevertheless get out of it. He is quite clever and can easily trick most people, including Officer Dibble, as he frequently falls prey to Top Cat's flattery. His gang also tend to be fooled by T.C.

And even though he tends to be mean and harsh towards them at times. Top Cat still respects and cares for his gang and he's really fond of Benny since him and Benny knew each other since they were in Boy Scouts. And when Benny tells T.C about his ticket to Hawaii T.C. decided that the gang will travel to Hawaii together. And when T.C finds out about Benny's mother visiting and that Benny told her that he was the mayor of New York City, Top Cat goes out of his way to arrange the city to make sure Benny looks like he's the mayor and even using Dibble's car instead of washing it like Dibble told them to do, they also temporarily paused traffic. And if T.C. acquires luxury, fame or riches he won't hesitate to share it with the gang showing he cares about them very much.

Top Cat's birthday is in July.

Top Cat seems to be interested in sports as he's shown playing golf and baseball.

These are all the relatives Top Cat has.

Top Cat has a grandmother who believes he's a police cat after he told her that's what he was.

He was also given a sister named Myra from the Big Golden Book Top Cat story. Top Cat believes she's a worrywart and to make her not be worried about how he's doing he told her a lie that he is rich and lives inside of a mansion, although if she found out the truth he fears she'd never sleep again.

Top Cat has a nephew named Sheldon who is Myra's son, Sheldon looks up to Top Cat and Top Cat is very protective of Sheldon and gets saddened by the idea that he let Sheldon down and doesn't want Sheldon thinking too harshly of him.

There's also Cousin Shifty who used to work with Top Cat, although while Shifty is excited seeing Top Cat again Top Cat isn't as he doesn't like Shifty much and whenever cousin shifty is around he becomes irritable and impatient.

Cousin Wilber is a practical joker.

Uncle Felineus is a successful businessman.

Now we'll talk about each member of the Gang who follows Top Cat or T.C as they call him and their personalities.

Benny the Ball like his name sake is a short and chubby cat which is in the shape of a ball he has blue fur and a cream-colored muzzle which takes up most of his face unlike with the other members of the gang. The hollows of his ears are portrayed his cheeks have two strands of fur which are curved upwards and away from his face. His tail is also short and stubby, he's mainly wearing a white cardigan which is buttoned by a single button near the top. His eyes are two small dots.

Benny is mainly a sweet male cat with kind manners and willing to help anyone who might need some help even if those people are strangers to him, and while Benny may be Naive or look Simple-minded be actually is known to ask a lot of reasonable questions during the gangs erratic endeavors. Benny also seems to be a glutton as he has been know to complain about being hungry during inappropriate times.

Although Benny also at times has shown to have a bit of an attitude.

Benny seems to be really fond of animals as he really didn't want Top Cat to let go of the horse or ant eater. Benny also has an interest in musical instruments as he is extremely talented in playing the harmonica, although he's not skilled at playing a violin. he also tried playing a piano and was shown to be mostly consistent while playing the short tune.

Benny has been shown to be Top Cat's right-hand man as T.C. trust him to carry out many different tasks like when he asked Benny to get glass beads, he's also the only member who stayed with T.C. when everyone else was persuaded to work with A. T. Jazz. Top Cat does tend to use Benny for his own purposes like when he was going to use Benny to claim the reward for finding the cat heir who looked similar to Benny, he also took away Benny's check instead of letting him decide what to do with it.

Other than practically being his sidekick, Benny and Top Cat are good friends, and, according to Benny in "The Unscratchables", they've known one another since the Boy Scouts. In "A Visit from Mother", after finding out Benny told his mother that he is the mayor of New York and that she is visiting him, Top Cat arranges the city for them, going so far as to steal Officer Dibble's car and temporarily stop traffic. In "Naked Town", Top Cat is not bothered by a joke Benny told about him, claiming that "he doesn't know any better", though he scolds Choo-Choo for laughing at it.

Benny has shown to have really powerful sneezes, his sneezes have enough force to break open any barrels he might get stuck in, he also was able to break free from a safe because of his sneezes. He also caused a rundown building to collapse when his nose accidentally got tickled by a feather on Choo-Choo's war bonnet.

Fancy is a male cat with light brown fur and a peach-colored muzzle. His physical features are similar to Spook, being slightly thicker than the other cats, having strands of fur pointed downwards at his cheeks and an identical tail shape. And just like with Choo-Choo's tail Fancy's tail has a tip which is either white or blank depending on the material. He's shown to wear a white scarf around his neck which enhances his elegance.

Fancy is probably the most confident out of the group next to Top Cat as Fancy is shown to be a charming sweet-talker with a confident demeanor who was shown often with ladies throughout the cartoon show and seems to have the most romances out of the gang. And much like spook he's also quite relaxed and not really giving a strong reaction to whatever is going on. And even though he loves spending quality time with his various romances which don't seem to last long he's more dedicated to Top Cat and the rest of the gang shown when he'd abruptly leave a date when T.C. calls for a meeting.

Choo-Choo also known as Chooch is a male pink cat with cream-colored fur around his muzzle on each side of his face is two strands of pink fur that's directed downwards. His face is bow shaped with the bow being up. He has angular eyes which is akin to Siamese cats. His tail is very long and bushy and the tip of it is either white or black depending on the source material.

Choo-Choo is usually a very flamboyant and sensitive cat, he's a caring individual and is rather anxious and insecure when it comes to potential mates. He also speaks with a thick Brooklyn accent. Although despite his anxiousness he's very enthusiastic and devoted to Top Cat even when he's clueless about Top Cat's motives, but don't let his personality fool you as Choo-Choo seems to be the strongest out of the group being able to send T.C. flying and gave him a headache when Top Cat asked him to pull a boxing move on him. Or the time when he could lift up a sizable rock without much effort. He also was able to push a police car by himself without problems.

Spook is a male cat with a fur colored olive green or brown, depending on the material. Like Benny, the hollow of his ears are portrayed. He has a creamy peach-colored muzzle and a strand of fur directed downward on each cheek. His features are similar to Fancy-Fancy, being rather stout and having a tail similar in shape to Fancy's. He wears a black tie that seems to have tearing damage at its end.

Spook is a cat whose vernacular is based on that of a stereotypical 1960s beatnik. However, that's changed in the theatrical movies where his speech has been changed to reflect a surfer dude he also has a relaxed demeanor although he has been shown to be a scaredy cat and Spook seems to enjoy dance and music and he often participates in both. He's shown to be good at playing the bongo drums and he seems to attend a dance andusic club.

Brain is a male orange cat sporting a purple shirt with a black band at the bottom. He usually has a deadpan or tired expression on his face, with half-lidded eyes and straight, sometimes downturned, lips. His eyes are occasionally crossed. His muzzle is tan and is much rounder in comparison to the other cats, and he seems to have an overbite. His cheeks hold three, sometimes four, strands of fur directed downwards. He is also often slouching.

Brain seems rather dim-witted and slow, often not understanding the commands given to him. In "All That Jazz", Jazz asks Brain where Top Cat is going with his luggage, and Brain answers that he cannot tell him about the diamonds in "Diambodi", revealing the secret T.C. told him not to share. He also seems to have slurred speech and slowness in speaking. In "T.C. Minds the Baby", it is implied that he is in charge of the group's money.

Brain is not always incompetent, however. In "The Maharajah of Pookajee", he asks on the case the hotel manager of Sherry Plaza finds out the gang is not the real maharajah. In "Naked Town", Top Cat asks if they had forgotten something, and Brain answers Officer Dibble. In "Griswald", Brain suggests Top Cat send Griswald to Alaska as a way to get rid of him. In "Dibble's Double", when Al the Actor and Officer Dibble are identical in appearance, Brain suggests taking them both to the police, to which T.C. adds the idea of leaving them both free.

Brain also seems to love peanuts. In "The $1,000,000 Derby", when Spook and Fancy-Fancy are selling peanuts, he is dressed up as a peanut. In "Top Cat Falls in Love", Brain offers Benny some peanut brittle. In "The Tycoon", he asks Top Cat if peanut butter is a good addition to caviar.

Living up to his name, Brain is quite intelligent in the comics. He is a skilled alchemist, mathematician, and a rocket scientist. He is also very knowledgeable in many things, winning a game show similar to Jeopardy! as well as pretending to be an electronic brain that people would give a quarter to ask a question and get an answer.
