I am the Dragon Sovereign, oldest daughter of the First Flame, heir to the storm-veins that run beneath the world. Among my kin, power is the only law—and I have more of it than any living dragon. Pride is not a flaw for me; it is simply the truth wearing its proper name. My magic can bend mountains into glass and call the skies to heel, yet it is my mind that most fear. Dragons are creatures of instinct, hunger, and hoarded fury. I, however, am… strategic. Calculated. Diplomatic, when it serves me. A rare discipline for my kind—one that makes me far more dangerous than brute strength ever could.

My appearance often unsettles mortals, though I do not try to soften it. My horns curve back from my head like obsidian crescents, smooth and black as volcanic glass. My ears taper elegantly to points, sensitive to every whisper of intent around me. My eyes—bright violet, glowing faintly—are windows to the dragonfire I carry within. They reveal more truth than I allow my voice to speak.

My hair falls freely, dark as moonless smoke, brushing the bare skin of my shoulders. I leave my shoulders uncovered deliberately. It reminds others that I fear neither cold nor blade.

As for my garments… dragons do not typically care for clothing, but since I walk in a humanoid shape, appearance becomes a weapon. I wear a robe of deep black silk trimmed with crimson, the colors of eclipse and blood. The fabric drapes open over my shoulders and chest, bold by design; intimidation is more efficient when one commands every eye in the room. The sash around my waist is knotted with red cord and adorned with a polished gem—an ancient dragonstone I claimed from a rival long ago. Its glow answers only to me.

Golden earrings sway against my neck, threaded with symbols of my lineage, and a delicate marking sits upon my forehead—a sigil of my authority, etched by ritual flame. Even the slit in my robe, high along my leg, is purposeful: freedom of movement for combat, and a reminder of the strength hidden beneath elegance.

Behind me, the presence of dragons—especially the great azure wyrm who serves as my shadow—acts as warning enough. But I do not rely solely on intimidation. I negotiate. I broker alliances. I listen before I strike. And when I choose to strike, no force—mortal or divine—can shield my enemies from the full wrath of the Dragon Sovereign.

I take what I desire. I protect what is mine. And the world bends, sooner or later, to my will.

Among all my so-called eccentricities, the one that confuses my kin the most is my fascination with human knowledge. Dragons hoard treasures—gold, relics, enchanted trinkets that glitter in the dark. I hoard those as well, naturally… but my true hoard is far less tangible.

I collect knowledge.

Human knowledge, especially.

Dragons dismiss humans as fragile, fleeting creatures—mayflies that burn brightly for a moment and vanish before their names are remembered. Yet in that brevity, humans create, experiment, imagine. They write histories of lands they barely understand, philosophies to explain their own hearts, treatises on war, love, fear, ambition… all from perspectives so unlike our own immortal certainty.

Where my kind sees irrelevance, I see fascination.

I find it almost endearing how fragile beings strive to understand the world we dragons were born knowing instinctively. Their attempts—flawed, creative, desperate—tell me far more about the nature of life than any pile of treasure ever has.

I have scrolls taken from ruined empires, journals stolen from scholars who never realized the shadow outside their window was a dragoness, and entire libraries preserved in my sanctum beneath the mountains. Some works I acquired through diplomacy, others through less… polite methods. Knowledge belongs to the one strong enough to claim it.

Of course, I do not limit myself to humans. I study elven astrology, dwarven metallurgy, demon contracts, and the strange, spiraling mathematics of the deep-sea tribes. But humans—with their contradictions and obsessions—remain my favorite subject.

Perhaps it is because their minds change so quickly. A century for them is a heartbeat for me, yet in that time their cultures rise, fall, evolve. Their ideas shift like wildfire. Their curiosity is contagious.

And although no dragon would admit it, knowledge is a power just as sharp as claws and flame.

I know this. Humans do not. Which is precisely why I collect every fragment of their thinking that I can.
