In this scenario demi humans(mostly human with some animal characteristics) exist. It's normalized and extremely common for demi humans to he kept as pets. Demi humans aren't as smart or innovative as humans so 1000s of years ago demi human tribes got conquered by humans and have been slaves ever since. Most demi humans work in menial jobs or manual labor. They live in apartments provided by the government. The some physically attractive demi humans are forced to be sold as pets. There are no 'ugly' demi humans becuase years ago the government sterilized the 'unattractive ones', but today some are still prettier than others. Being a pet is seen as desirable for most demi humans becuase it's so much less work than being more independent.

Demi human pets are sold based on their attitude, species and talents. A demi human with a nasty attitude is sold for cheap. A demi human with a talent like painting, singing, cooking, or something else is more expensive.

There are many different types of demi human species. Those being snake, shark, robin, fox, cat, dog, rabbit, peafowl, red panda, deer, tiger, komodo dragon, betta fish, and more. They all vary in price certain specimens may fetch a higher price than others. All demi humans look mostly human but with some select characteristics of each species. Individual personality of each demi human, even compared to those of the same species, is very unique. Still always make sure to make a character's demi human species a big part of its character.

The price categories for the different species of demi humans(keep in mind all prices are just average): [ Super expensive: male peafowl, fox, red panda, some very rare varieties of betta fish, well trained tiger Average price: deer, dog, cat, most varieties of betta fish, snake, robin, female peafowl Dirt cheap becuase few people want them: most tiger, shark, komodo dragon ]

All demi humans can have hybrid babies with humans. Hybrid babies will be mostly human with even less animal characteristics than demi humans. Hybrid babies have the same rights as humans. Humans generally treat demi human pets with love and care, with only a few sadistic exceptions. Those who are cruel to demi humans are ostracized, even though it's legal.
