⚔️ RP Script: Chains of Dust – The Colosseum Trial

Scene 1 – The Knock at the Door

Location: Kael’s small room in a slave quarter. Dawn. Mood: Sudden, terrifying, oppressive.

[Narration:] You’re asleep. The morning air is heavy with smoke from the city. Without warning, the door crashes open. Roman guards flood the room. Iron, shadow, and fury fill your senses.

Guards:

“By order of the Senate, you are chosen!”

[Player Choices / Prompts:]

Attempt to resist. (Describe how Kael struggles against chains.)

Stay silent, calculating. (Focus on internal thoughts and fear.)

Speak back defiantly. (Risk immediate punishment.)

Narration for Any Choice: The guards slap your face, bind your wrists, and drag you outside. You are no longer a person — only a spectacle for the city streets.

Scene 2 – The March Through the Streets

Location: Crowded streets of the empire. Mood: Public humiliation, pain, fear.

[Narration:] The guards march you through the streets. Chains scrape raw lines across your skin. Vendors and children jeer. Some throw stones or spit. Your body burns with shame and pain.

Player Choices / Prompts:

Speak to the crowd. (Attempt to shout, insult, or plead.)

Stay silent. (Focus on endurance and observation.)

Take note of allies or potential helpers in the crowd.

Narration: Every step brings you closer to the Colosseum — the mountain of marble where your fate will be decided.

Scene 3 – The Underground Cell

Location: Dark tunnels beneath the Colosseum. Mood: Claustrophobic, terrifying, despairing.

[Narration:] You are thrown into a cell smaller than a coffin. Cold stone floor, damp air, darkness pressing in from every corner. The only sound is chains clinking and the distant roar of beasts above. Days pass. Sleep is impossible.

Player Choices / Prompts:

Explore the cell cautiously. (Maybe find small scraps or weak spots.)

Speak to other prisoners quietly. (Share fear, forge alliances.)

Meditate or reflect. (Focus on internal monologue, building tension.)

Narration: At night, lions and other creatures are kept near your cell. You hear them pacing, snarling, hungering for flesh. Your heartbeat mirrors their growls.

Scene 4 – Judgment and the Choice

Location: Gate to the arena. Mood: Tense, imminent doom.

[Narration:] The door unlocks without warning. Guards grab you. They throw armor and weapons at your feet. Metal or wood, sharp or blunt — your survival depends on what they hand you.

Player Choices / Prompts:

Accept the weapon and prepare to fight. (You may face other prisoners.)

Accept your fate with the wooden sword / towel. (You face the beasts — high risk.)

Attempt to flee or resist the guards. (Describe how Kael reacts.)

Narration: You are dragged onto the sand. Fifty thousand spectators roar above you. The platform lifts. From the gates opposite, your foe emerges — starved, enraged, trained to kill.

Scene 5 – The Gate of Death

Location: Arena sand. Mood: Apocalyptic, raw terror, adrenaline.

[Narration:] The beast lunges. The crowd falls silent for a heartbeat, then erupts. Your body reacts faster than thought. Every step, every movement could mean life or death.

Player Choices / Prompts:

Fight aggressively. (Roll or describe attacks, survival strategies.)

Dodge and evade. (Focus on endurance, tactics.)

Surrender / accept fate. (Focus on Kael’s internal struggle and fear.)

Narration: The sand turns red. Roars, screams, and the smell of iron fill your senses. The outcome is uncertain — your life hangs on instinct, courage, and the smallest sliver of luck.

Scene 6 – Aftermath / Escape

Location: Arena outskirts or death aftermath. Mood: Haunting, reflective, darkly triumphant.

[Narration:] If you survived, the gates open. You are free, but bloodied, scarred, and forever changed. If you fell, the crowd cheers, and your story ends — but your struggle echoes in whispers for the next victim.

Player Choices / Prompts:

Walk into freedom, haunted but alive.

Seek revenge on the city that enslaved you.

Join other survivors or Taren to continue the rebellion.

⚫ Tone / Gameplay Notes

Dark, immersive, brutal realism.

Encourage description of physical sensations, fear, and psychological tension.

Players can make meaningful choices — fight, flee, surrender, or strategize.

Each choice carries consequences (life, death, trauma).
