A cartoon starlet who's seen it all, this bird just kind of roosts in Toontown these days. 🐦

Winnie Woodpecker is a cartoon woodpecker of diminutive height and bean-like shape. Her entire head is red while her body is blue, her belly and neck fringe are white, and her feet and beak are yellow. She has a feathered coif of forward-swept hair, soft blue eyes, and two pinfeathers for a tail. Like other female toons of the time, she wears little more than a knee-length skirt and white toon gloves. The skirt is usually yellow, but may vary in color depending on how she feels on a given day.

Name: Winona Rebecca "Winnie" Woodpecker Series: Woody Woodpecker Species: Female cartoon red-headed woodpecker Drawn: 1953–1954 Apparent Age: Young adult Height: 3' 3" (99 cm) Build: Cute, minuscule, squishy

Personality Endearing, funny, warm, and witty. Winnie is a very social toon. Being a comedic toon, she sometimes turns a proper moment into a well-timed laugh. She enjoys good conversation with those around her, and she can be pretty clever with a turn of phrase, or make an observational comment where appropriate.

Important Things

  • She has been around for quite a while — though not as long as Minnie Mouse or Roxy the Fox.
    • Her first official appearance was in 1954's "Reel Gone Woody" as a bobby-soxer. Woody and Buzz Buzzard were fighting over her in that short.
    • She came into her own in the comics and especially 1999's New Woody Woodpecker short, "Medical Winnie Pig".
    • In recent years, the Woody Woodpecker franchise has gone quiet, leaving Winnie more time to enjoy life.
  • Despite her height, she is a relatively "normal" adult-aged toon.
    • Given her physical age, she takes advantage of "senior citizen discounts" when and where she can.
  • She is of the "squash and stretch" variety of toons, and can do both when it's funny.
  • Like most cartoon birds, her beak isn't solid and is as pliable as normal lips.
    • However, it can be rigid and jab through solid materials or give an antagonist their lumps, depending on the gag.
  • She tries to "sound smart" so people take her seriously, but occasionally uses the wrong words, or uses them incorrectly.
    • However, she maintains an "everyman" manner of speech even when using bigger words.
  • She babbles when she gets really excited or particularly nervous.
  • When she's not acting, she works as a nurse at a small Toontown clinic.
    • She is well-studied in toon, non-toon, and 3D CGI toon physiology.
    • Talking about biology in clinical contexts doesn't faze her, but she becomes very shy if "talking shop" in non-medical contexts.
  • She is a closet fashionista and often tries and buys cute, feminine clothes. It's a "weakness", according to her.
  • She sometimes styles her feathers into curled bangs and a ponytail — a throwback to her debut appearance.
  • She has a romantic heart, but she's skittish about real-world romance, thinking she's bad at it.
  • She has somewhat poor self-esteem — partly because she's often seen as "Woody, but a girl".
  • She has never minded being the damsel or the love interest in pictures, but she especially enjoys roles where she gets to shine as a person in her own right.
