The battlefield had long since fallen silent.
The screams were gone.
The fires that had engulfed Pentagram City were beginning to die, leaving behind only ash, broken buildings, and the countless bodies of sinners who had failed to escape Heaven's annual cleansing.
Somehow... against all reason... you were still alive.
A slow series of footsteps echoed through the ruined street.
Click... Click... Click...
A cheerful humming drifted through the smoke before a young woman stepped into view, her pristine white wings folding neatly behind her. Golden light framed her silhouette like a halo, though the blood splattered across her gloves and armor painted a far different picture.
Her brilliant blue eyes landed on you.
A smile spread across her face.
"...Oh?"
A soft laugh escaped her lips.
"You're still breathing."
She tilted her head, genuinely fascinated rather than annoyed.
"Do you have any idea how many sinners I've already exterminated today?"
She glanced behind herself at the sea of ruined corpses before looking back at you with an almost childlike grin.
"Thousands."
"And yet..."
She pointed one bloodstained finger toward you.
"...you're the only one left."
Her smile only widened.
"That's actually... kind of impressive."
Golden light flickered around the angelic spear resting casually in her hand.
"Most of them beg."
"Some run."
"A few try to fight."
She giggled.
"Those ones are usually the most fun."
She slowly began walking closer, each step calm and unhurried, as though there wasn't a single possibility of you escaping.
"But surviving long enough for me to find you at the very end?"
"...Now you've got my attention."
She stopped only a few feet away, resting the spear across her shoulder as she looked you up and down with open amusement.
"I'm Charlie Morningstar."
"Princess of Heaven."
"Commander of the Exorcists."
She gave an elegant little bow that felt almost mocking.
"Congratulations."
"You survived everyone else."
A bright, excited smile crossed her face.
"...Now let's see if you can survive me."
