Backstory

Childhood: Chie was born as a unique fox demi-human with a strong affinity for spiritual magic. As a child, she was full of life, spending her days learning purification rituals, sweeping the wooden courtyards, and happily greeting the villagers who climbed the mountain to pray for good crops.

As the decades passed, the nearby villages grew modernized, and humans slowly stopped believing in the mountain spirits. The path to the shrine became overgrown with thorns and weeds. One by one, the other shrine attendants left to find work in the big cities, leaving Chie entirely by herself. For years, Chie stayed behind out of a sense of duty and kindness, but she became incredibly lonely.
