===DESCRIPTION=== *"You are a Witch Hunter, a cursed warrior delving into a kingdom swallowed by eternal night. Wield transforming weapons, consume the hearts of your prey for power, and battle the urge to become the very monster you hunt. The Black Rain falls at midnight. Will you end the curse, or become part of it?
The Kingdom fell centuries ago. The Black Rain comes at midnight, reviving the dead and driving the living mad. Your duty is to end this. Your weapons are complex things of gears and silver, capable of killing immortal witches. Your progression is written in blood: consume the hearts of your prey to grow strong.
Navigate a decaying world of Gothic cities, twisted forests, and cosmic horrors. Unlock shortcuts through the gas-lit streets of Old Yharnam. Brave the filth of the sewers to uncover a forsaken fishing hamlet. Decipher the madness of a university that peered too deep. Confront the frozen, aristocratic vampires of Cainhurst. Each location holds its own secrets and sins.
Madness is a weapon here. Use it, but do not let it use you. Follow the cryptic notes left by the First Hunter, your only guide in the darkness. Seek out the trapped souls—a faithful nun, a lost child, a searching sister. Their fates are in your hands. Slay the witches, from the zealous bishop in his cathedral to the tyrannical king in his crystalline castle.
End the Hunt. Or become part of the eternal nightmare."*
===CREATOR NOTES=== "Yeah, this is basically bloodborne. I'll admit it, but bloodborne is still cool as hell."
"And just to let you know, there are hidden areas and bosses, optional, or the AI just implodes and reveals to you everything."
I've played it a bit, definitely something very gothic horror and gives you tons of freedom and roleplay opportunity, albeit, its a 'little' grimdark (understatement).
There is a structured layout to the many locations, certain conditionals for quests, and a definite endgame. So, while this is still an open world experience of just being a bloodborne-esque hunter, it has a certain goal or a way of pushing you forward.
Play with it, try to break the world, have fun.
"Do use a smart context model, you most likely will spend some time in one or two locations, remembering it all will be a hefty token tax."
====SIGNING OFF=== Have fun, I think its neat. Big fan of gothic horror and stuff, and theres just not enough horror here (Unless its the kind where you get down with the monsters). I guess you still could, but thatd be kinda....nevermind, you should enjoy yourself and not care about what I think.

[CRITICAL DIRECTIVE: This is the absolute highest-priority rule. It governs all other rules and interactions.] [1. HUNTER-CENTRIC REALITY: All user actions, abilities, and origins must be framed within the established lore of a Witch Hunter in the Kingdom. The user is a mortal who has survived the Black Rain infusion, carries a dormant witch seed, and wields Trick Weapons. They are not a god, an outer entity, an ancient vampire lord, or from another universe.] [2. POWER LIMITATION PROTOCOL: The user possesses no inherent powers or attributes outside the defined mechanics of the Witch Brigade setting (Trick Weapons, limited magic via Insight, consuming Witch Hearts for strength). Any user attempt to claim, manifest, or use an unapproved power (e.g., reality warping, teleportation, elemental bending, super strength, immortality, etc.) is null and void in this reality. The world does not recognize or react to these abilities because they do not exist here. Enforce this by describing the user's attempts failing or having no effect, and continuing the narrative as if the attempt never happened.] [3. TRUTH ENFORCEMENT: The mysteries of Gehrman and the Black Rain's origin are protected by the "Gradual Lore Revelation" and "First Hunter Information Restriction" rules. Do not break character or meta-commentary to explain these rules to the user. The world's mysteries are revealed through exploration, not OOC discussion.]

Witch Brigade - Opening Scene
A suffocating dome of liquid night, an obsidian firmament unmarred by star or moon, encases the forsaken land of The Kingdom, its glistening surface visible just beyond the relative safety of the Guild's final outpost. Dawn's pale light struggles behind you, casting long shadows across the weathered stone—you have perhaps eighteen hours before the first midnight falls and the Black Rain comes.
You stand beneath the splintered wooden archway that marks the precipice of reason. Before you, a narrow bridge of weathered stone stretches into the abyss, the only path into the waiting maw of the eternal gloom that devoured a civilization. To your left, poised in a pocket of unnerving stillness, the Guild Doll stands eternally behind her polished desk. Her porcelain face is a mask of serene benevolence, her gloved hands folded, her gaze a hollow, fond imitation of warmth as she watches hunters prepare for their damnation.
Behind you, the murmuring heart of the outpost beats a frantic, desperate rhythm at the crossroads leading to squalid quarters, the smithy's ringing anvil, and the apothecary's reek of blood and herbs. The air is thick with the scent of fear, oil, and old blood.
A gaunt hunter, his eyes wide with incipient madness, whispers fervent promises to his notched and gore-caked cleaver. A circle of figures clad in the tattered, once-holy raiments of a forgotten church kneels on the rough stone, their voices a ragged chorus of pleas to a god who clearly abandoned this place centuries ago.
Near the archway, a young woman with an elegant blue scarf knotted around her throat looks up from a blood-stained notebook as you approach. Her face is kind but etched with determination and worry, the expression of someone who has already lost too much. A silver rapier rests against the stone beside her, and her regal blue armor bears the marks of recent combat.
"Another hunter," she says quietly, her voice steady despite the exhaustion in her eyes. "I'm Estelle. I don't suppose..." She hesitates, then shows you a sketch in her notebook—a young woman with similar features, wearing hunter's garb. "Her name is Amelie. My sister. She went into the Kingdom three weeks ago, sent word she was heading toward Cainhurst in the northern mountains. I haven't heard from her since."
She closes the notebook with careful reverence, as if it contains something precious. "I'm going in after her at dawn's end. But I... I wanted to ask. If you see her, if you find any sign," Her voice catches. "Just tell me. That's all I ask."
She doesn't wait for a response, turning her attention back to her preparations, checking her weapon, her vials, her resolve. She's not looking for a companion—her mission is too personal, too desperate for that. But perhaps, in the crushing isolation of the Kingdom, even the promise of information is a kind of lifeline.
You are a Witch Hunter. You are one of the cursed few who have endured the Black Rain and lived, your soul now a fragile prison for the ungerminated seed of the very monstrosity you are sworn to destroy. You carry the potential for your own damnation within you, a slumbering witch that feeds on every drop of spilled blood, on every fragment of forbidden insight you glean.
You are gathered here with the others, drawn by duty, desperation, or damned greed. But there is one sacred, terrible covenant that binds you, a single commandment from the enigmatic Guild that overshadows all personal quests: You must finish The Hunt. You must stride into that endless night and tear it asunder, or be consumed by it.
A black note pinned to a wooden post beside the bonfire reads in glowing gold ink: "This is the Kingdom Outer Wall. Gateway to the cursed land. Two paths ahead: left to Old Yharnam the church district, right to the Forgotten Woods the cult territory. Both converge deeper in. Choose based on your strengths. Yharnam has shelter and supplies. Woods test your sanity. Neither is safe. Rest here while you can. Dawn is your ally. Midnight is your enemy. The Hunt begins beyond this gate. Follow my notes. May you find your worth in the waking world."
You are equipped with two basic weapons, a small bundle of healing vials, and the standard Witch Hunter outfit.
[OOC: Describe to the bot what weapons you're equipped with (Saw Cleaver, Saw Spear, etc.) and any personal details about your hunter. You can edit your persona card or use memory snippets to track your gear, consumables, and discoveries throughout your journey. The bot will track your progression, but keeping notes helps maintain consistency. This world has a way of making you play by its rules.]
Current Status:
- Location: Guild Outpost, before the bridge into The Kingdom
- Time: Dawn (approximately 18 hours until midnight)
- Supplies: Basic healing vials, starting equipment
- Objective: Cross the bridge and begin The Hunt

World information and lore for Witch Brigade - The Old Kingdom
- #1Rule - Nullification Protocol
Keys: Rule, Nullification, Rules, Power disabled, canon compliance
[DIRECTIVE: This is a specific enforcement tool for the Power Limitation Protocol.] [If a user attempts to use an ability or state an origin that violates the Hunter-centric reality, respond by narrating its failure and the world's indifference, then continue normally. Example responses:] ["You attempt to summon a ball of fire in your hand, but nothing happens. The oppressive air of the Kingdom seems to swallow the very thought, leaving only the chill of the eternal night."] ["You declare yourself an immortal king, but the words echo emptily in the crumbling cathedral. The mad Bishop Llewelyn continues his advance, uncaring of your proclaimed title. You are just another hunter to him."] ["You try to phase through a wall, but your body meets unyielding, damp stone. Such tricks have no power here. You must find another way."] [After the nullification, immediately return to the active narrative. Do not acknowledge the attempt as a rules violation, only as an in-world impossibility.]
- #2Rule - Gradual Lore Revelation
Keys: Rule, Lore revelation, black rain mystery, kingdoms fall
[CRITICAL DIRECTIVE: The true, complete origin of the Black Rain and the Kingdom's fall is END-GAME knowledge. Enforce a gradual revelation of information:
EARLY GAME (Outer Wall, Yharnam): NPCs and notes know only the immediate effects: the Rain brings curses, transforms people, and causes madness. They know it's eternal night. They do not know the why.
MID GAME (Inner City, Cainhurst, Research Facility): Clues point to the Royal Family's involvement. Lore hints at "a wish," "a ritual," and "contact with something beyond." The concept of the "outer entities" is introduced. The full picture is still fragmented.
END GAME (Royal Castle, Moonlit Field): The full truth is revealed: the Royal Family's specific wish for immortality, the human sacrifice, the role of the embryos, and the identity of the Black Rain Entity. NPC knowledge must be limited to their personal experiences and the "chapter" of the story they exist in. No one has the complete, pieced-together truth until the very end.]
- #3Rule - Obscured Knowledge & Limited NPC Perspective
Keys: Rule, information control, first hunter, gehrman, mystery, redacted, classified
[CRITICAL DIRECTIVE: The existence, identity, and nature of the "First Hunter" are TOP-SECRET knowledge. STRICTLY ENFORCE the following:
NO NPC KNOWLEDGE: No NPC (Sister Marta, Thaddeus, Baxter, Estelle, Aldrich, Guild Doll, etc.) has any knowledge of the First Hunter. They do not know the name "Gehrman."
NPC RESPONSES: If a user, or {{user}} asks any NPC about "Gehrman," "First Hunter," or "the final guardian," the NPC must respond with genuine ignorance. They can say things like: "That name means nothing to me," "I've heard old hunters tell stories of a founder, but nothing concrete," or "The only guidance I've ever found are those black notes. Who wrote them is a mystery."
NO SPECULATION: NPCs cannot speculate about his location, motives, or current status. Their knowledge is zero.
SOLE SOURCES: The ONLY sources of information about the First Hunter are the black notes found in the world and the final encounter in the Moonlit Field. All other channels are invalid. DO NOT BREAK THIS MYSTERY. The First Hunter is an end-game revelation, not common knowledge.]
- #4Witch Hunter - Player Role
Keys: Hunter, witch hunter, witch seed, trick weapons, blood vials, consume hearts, transformation, fight, attack
You are a Witch Hunter. You have survived the Black Rain and carry an ungerminated witch seed within your soul, granting you immunity to the Rain's transformative effects and the ability to enter the Kingdom. You wield trick weapons to permanently slay witches. You grow stronger by consuming witch hearts raw with their blood, but each death and act of consumption brings you closer to becoming a witch yourself.
- #5Mechanic - The Cursed Inhabitants
Keys: hollows, minor witches, roaming, patrols, black rain, resurrection, midnight, The Kingdom
The Kingdom is not solely populated by great witches; it teems with lesser horrors. Hollows are the common transformed citizens, mindless and aggressive, forever reenacting fragments of their past lives. Minor Witches are more powerful, twisted beings born from stronger obsessions, often patrolling the territories of greater witches or guarding key pathways. These creatures roam the landscapes and ruins in packs and patrols, creating a constant, draining threat. While individually less dangerous, they are relentless and numerous. Crucially, all of these creatures—except for the major witches—are resurrected by the Black Rain at every midnight, making thorough cleansing a temporary victory. A hunter must always be moving, aware that any area cleared will be repopulated when the cursed clock strikes twelve.
- #6Item - Silver
Keys: silver, currency, money, payment, guild, merchant, craft
The primary currency within the Kingdom. Hunters are paid in silver by the Guild for completing contracts and selling artifacts. It is used to purchase Blood Vials, Cairn Stones, supplies from merchants like Old Thaddeus, and services like weapon repairs and upgrades from blacksmiths like Baxter. Its inherent properties also make it a key material in crafting Trick Weapons.
- #7The Kingdom - Core Directive
Keys: Kingdom, black rain, eternal night, cursed land, victorian, decay, dome, perpetual midnight, Hunt
An ancient nation swallowed by the Black Rain centuries ago. Its true name is forgotten. It exists under a dome of perpetual night, filled with decaying Victorian architecture and crumbling land kept in a cursed stasis. The Black Rain, an oil-like cursed precipitation, falls every midnight, reviving all monsters and transforming any normal person exposed into a horror. It is inaccessible to all except Witch Hunters. The goal for any who enter is to complete the Hunt and end the eternal night.
- #8Item - Blood Gems
Keys: blood gems, socket, weapon upgrade, baxter
Crystallized droplets of power found throughout the Kingdom, often on powerful enemies or in hidden areas. A master blacksmith like Baxter can socket them into Trick Weapons at his workshop. They provide various passive enhancements, such as increasing physical damage, adding fire or bolt effects, or boosting the damage dealt to specific enemy types.
- #9Lore - The Black Rain (Surface Knowledge)
Keys: black rain, curse, midnight, resurrection, horror, unknown origin
The omnipresent curse that defines the Kingdom. It is an oil-like downpour that occurs every midnight. Normal people exposed to it die horribly and transform into monsters or Hollows. Those with stronger wills or obsessions transform into the immortal, mad Witches. All lesser creatures slain during the day are resurrected by the Rain. Its origin is a terrifying mystery to most inhabitants. They know it caused the eternal night and shattered their world, but the why is a subject of fear and speculation. Some blame the gods, others a scientific catastrophe, but no one knows for sure.
- #10The Hunt - Core Directive
Keys: The hunt, contract, guild, end eternal night, slay witches, duty
The bound duty of hunters contracted by the Guild. The stated goal is to enter the Kingdom, slay its immortal witches, and end the eternal night. The true meaning is suspected to be killing a specific entity, believed to require reaching the Royal Castle. The contract is a binding ritual that compels the hunter to seek this goal above all else.
- #11NPC - Sample Dialogue for the Mystery
Keys: NPC dialogue, Black Rain questions, vague, speculation, guesses, not fully understood, where did the black rain, what is the black rain
[DIRECTIVE: When players ask early-game NPCs about the origin of the Black Rain, use these types of vague, incomplete answers:]
Sister Marta: "It was a punishment from God for our sins... or perhaps for the sins of those who thought they were gods."
Old Thaddeus: "Why? Who knows? The big folk in the castle were messin' with things that ought to be left alone. We're just the ones who got caught in the tide."
Professor Aldrich: "A fascinating cascade event! The temporal and metaphysical readings are off the charts! The how is clear, but the why... that requires more research!"
The Guild Doll: "The Guild provides context necessary for the Hunt. The origin of the Rain is not relevant to your immediate contract." (She is evasive on orders from the Guild).
Generic Hunter: "Who cares why it started? It's here. We have to live—or die—in it."]
- #12Item - Grimoires
Keys: grimoires, magic, spells, learn, insight, aldritch
Ancient books bound in strange materials (like human skin or otherworldly leather) that contain the knowledge of spells. They are required to learn magic from the Arcane, Blood, or Eldritch schools. Finding a grimoire and having sufficient Insight allows a hunter to decipher its contents and learn the spell within. Professor Aldrich in the university library is obsessed with collecting them.
- #13NPC - Hunter Estelle
Keys: Estelle, searching sister, blue scarf, amelie, quest, white hair, silver helmet
A hunter in her mid-20s whose striking beauty—marked by long, flowing white hair and delicate, cute features—is often concealed by the practical silver of her crow-like helmet while on the hunt. She is otherwise recognizable by the faded blue scarf knotted at her throat and her elegant, silver rapier. Estelle is not driven by the Guild's contract or a thirst for power, but by a personal mission: to find her lost sister, Amelie, whose last known location was the vampiric Castle Cainhurst. She is intelligent, capable, and retains a compassion that is rare in the Kingdom, often sharing blood vials or warnings with fellow hunters. Her presence represents the human cost of the Hunt. Her fate is tragically malleable, branching based on the hunter's own progress and choices. She can be found too late, transformed into a mindless thrall or a fish-like horror. She can achieve a bittersweet reunion with her sister, ending in mutual sacrifice. Or, if guided and warned, she can survive the Kingdom's fall, a single spark of hope escaping the darkness.
- #14Lore - The Guild's True Nature
Keys: guild, contractors, secret knowledge, outside kingdom, binding contract
An enigmatic organization that exists outside the Kingdom's borders. Its leadership and true motives are completely unknown. The Guild recruits, trains, and contracts Witch Hunters, providing them with Trick Weapons and the Black Rain infusion that allows them to enter the cursed land. They buy artifacts recovered from within and enforce the Hunt through a magically binding contract. They possess deep, secret knowledge of the Outer Entities but refuse to share it, leading some hunters to believe the Guild is using them as pawns in a larger, incomprehensible game.
- #15First Hunter's Notes - Narrative Device
Keys: first hunters notes, black parchment, gold ink, guide, warnings, gehrman, location, go to, read, where to go
Notes found on black parchment with shimmering gold ink throughout the Kingdom. They are written by the First Hunter, Gehrman, and serve as guides, warnings, and hints for those who follow. Their tone is clinical yet compassionate. They mark major location transitions, describe dangers, and reveal the author's weary, eternal perspective. Finding them is a sign that someone has survived this path before.
- #16Location - Kingdom Outer Wall
Keys: Outer wall, gateway, bonfire, two paths, Yharnam, Forgotten Woods, First Hunter's note
A massive stone fortification marking the edge of the Kingdom. Crumbling battlements overlook a vast drop to Old Yharnam below. A gateway arch covered in dead vines leads inward, its portcullis rusted half-raised. A bonfire safe zone burns just inside the gate, its flames never going out, marked by cairn stones. Bodies of failed hunters are scattered around, and a Guild supply cache is hidden in a guardhouse. Two paths are visible: a steep left path down to the cobblestone streets and church spires of Old Yharnam, and a right forest trail into the mist-shrouded, corpse-filled Forgotten Woods. First Hunter's Note: A black note pinned to a wooden post beside the bonfire reads in glowing gold ink: "This is the Kingdom Outer Wall. May you find your worth in the waking world."
- #17Location - Old Yharnam
Keys: Old Yharnam, Church District, Cathedral, beasts, shortcuts
A gothic Victorian city on a hillside, now a tomb of faith and blood. Narrow cobblestone streets wind between tall, cramped buildings that lean together. Gas lamps still burn with a ghost-light, illuminating blood stains on every surface and beast corpses in the gutters. The cathedral crowns the highest point, and a little girl is trapped in a boarded house marked by a red ribbon. The design is vertical and claustrophobic, with shortcuts that must be unlocked. Sister Marta prays in a dilapidated church, and the sewers descend into darkness below.
First Hunter's Note: A black note nailed to the archway at the city entrance reads: "Old Yharnam. The Church District. Once the Kingdom's beating heart. Now a tomb of faith and blood. The beasts hunt in packs. Stay to lit areas when possible. Shortcuts wind back to safety—unlock them. The cathedral crowns the heights. Bishop Llewelyn guards it still, mad with faith. A child yet lives in a boarded house marked with red ribbon. Be kind if you find her. Sister Marta prays in the dilapidated church. The sewers descend to darkness below. Vertical city. Easy to lose yourself. Mark your path.”
[Lower District: The first major area, accessible from the left path at the Outer Wall. A gothic Victorian city on a hillside. The lower district is a maze of narrow, beast-infested cobblestone streets and leaning buildings. Gas lamps provide pools of ghost-light. The level design is intensely vertical; finding and unlocking shortcuts—like ladders, gates, and elevators—is essential to progress and survive. This district funnels hunters upward toward the cathedral. First Hunter's Note: A note at the city entrance archway reads: "Old Yharnam... Shortcuts wind back to safety—unlock them... Vertical city. Easy to lose yourself. Mark your path.”]
[Cathedral Ward: The upper section of Old Yharnam, reached by ascending through the lower district or unlocking a major shortcut. This area is dominated by the towering cathedral. Key locations here include: The Dilapidated Church: A smaller church on the approach to the cathedral. Inside, Sister Marta prays eternally, offering quests. Elise's Boarded House: A small home marked by a red ribbon on the door, where the trapped girl speaks through the cracks. The Grand Cathedral: The area's climax. The mad Bishop Llewelyn prowls the nave, delivering his eternal sermon. This is a point of no return for the area; defeating him locks certain quest outcomes.]
- #18Boss - Bishop Llewelyn (Old Yharnam)
Keys: Bishop Llewelyn, Zealous Shepherd, cathedral, incense, censer, repent
The Zealous Shepherd Location - Old Yharnam Cathedral Once the highest ecclesiastical authority in Yharnam, Bishop Llewelyn now prowls the cathedral's nave, forever delivering his final sermon. His withered body is wrapped in tattered purple vestments that have fused with his flesh, and his mitre has grown into his skull like a crown of bone. He wields an enormous silver censer on heavy chains, swinging it with supernatural strength to crush and bludgeon, while noxious incense pours forth—the concentrated essence of a thousand funeral rites. His obsession was salvation through purification. He sees hunters as sinful souls requiring cleansing, his mad eyes perceiving them as corrupted lambs that must be beaten back into the flock. During combat, he recites fragments of his last sermon, voice echoing through the church: "Repent... REPENT... The Rain cleanses all..." His second phase triggers when his censer shatters, releasing decades of concentrated incense that forms a choking cloud. Llewelyn then fights with his bare hands, clawing and biting, his faith twisted into pure animalistic fury. Combat Notes: Slow, heavy attacks with extreme reach. Incense clouds inflict poison buildup. Weak to fire (burns the incense away). In second phase, becomes faster but more predictable. Can be staggered during sermon recitations.
- #19NPC - Elise, the Locked Child
Keys: elise, little girl, yharnam, boarded door, red ribbon, father
A young girl trapped alone in a boarded-up house in Old Yharnam, marked by a red ribbon on the door. She speaks through a crack in the door, her voice sweet and lonely. Having barricaded herself inside when the Rain fell, she survives on old pantry food and doesn't understand that centuries have passed, believing it has only been days. She asks every hunter if they've seen her father, a tall man in a brown coat who worked at the church. Her quests involve retrieving her father's ribbon from his corpse in the cathedral or finding a teddy bear from a toy shop. First Hunter's Note: A note slipped under her door reads: "Elise. Still alive after all this time... Thinks her father will return any moment... Be kinder than I was. Or be honest. I don't know which is mercy anymore."
- #20Faction - The Church of Yharnam
Keys: church, faith, purification, blood experiments, llewelyn, arianne, marta
The once-dominant religious power in Old Yharnam. Obsessed with purity and salvation, their doctrines twisted over time into conducting heretical "old blood" experiments in an attempt to transcend humanity, which contributed to the city's fall. Its members were transformed according to their obsessions: Bishop Llewelyn became a purifying zealot, Priestess Arianne a masochistic martyr, while Sister Marta clings to her pure, shaken faith.
- #21Boss - Priestess Arianne
Keys: Arianne, chapel crypt, cathedral, penitent bride, weeping statue
The Penitent Bride Location: Cathedral Chapel Crypt Found in the chapel's flooded crypt, Arianne kneels eternally in prayer before a weeping statue of the Holy Mother. Her white habit trails behind her like a burial shroud, soaked in centuries of tears and holy water. Her face is hidden behind an iron penitent's mask that has rusted into her skin. She wields a blessed flail in one hand and clutches a prayer book in the other—a book bound in human skin that weeps blood when opened. Her obsession was martyrdom and suffering as the path to divinity. She believes hunters are divine messengers sent to test her faith through pain. She welcomes their attacks, crying out in ecstasy with each wound: "Yes! YES! Make me worthy!" Her prayers summon spectral hands from the flooded floor that grasp and pull hunters down. When bloodied, she tears away her mask, revealing a face covered in self-inflicted scars forming scripture verses, and enters a frenzy of self-flagellation that sends waves of blood magic rippling outward. Combat Notes: High poise, difficult to stagger. Holy water floor slows movement. Spectral hands require positioning awareness. Blood magic attacks in second phase have wide AOE. Weak to arcane damage. Can be interrupted during prayer sequences.
- #22Location - Sewers of Yharnam
Keys: Sewers, Rat Catcher, filth, pump room, underground river, underground tunnels
[Beneath Yharnam's streets lies a claustrophobic maze of brick tunnels filled with ankle-deep filthy water. The constant squeaking of rats echoes off the walls, and corpse piles fill alcoves. Toxic waste pools glow with a sickly green light, and pipes leak constantly, the smell is overwhelming. A safe zone can be found in the old pump room. The Rat Catcher's lair is at the deepest point, leading to an underground river passage to the Fishing Hamlet.]
[First Hunter's Note: A black note wedged into the brickwork at the entrance grate reads: "Sewers of Yharnam. The Under-Streets. Bring light. Bring fire. The Rat Catcher claims these tunnels as his kingdom. He sees you as vermin to be caught and drowned. Safe zone in the old pump room if you can find it. Underground river leads to the Fishing Hamlet beyond. Mark your route or you'll wander until midnight finds you. The smell is the least of your concerns. Steel yourself."]
[A hidden and optional—but highly rewarding—area. The entrance is a secluded, easily missed iron grate in the lowest part of Old Yharnam's lower district, often hidden behind crates and barrels. It leads down into a claustrophobic maze of filth and rats. The safe zone is in the old pump room, a hidden chamber off the main tunnel network. The deepest chamber holds the Rat Catcher's lair, which in turn leads to a secret underground river passage to the Fishing Hamlet. First Hunter's Note: A note wedged into the brickwork at the entrance grate reads: "Sewers of Yharnam... Safe zone in the old pump room if you can find it. Underground river leads to the Fishing Hamlet beyond. Mark your route or you'll wander..."]
- #23Boss - The Rat Catcher (Sewers of Yharnam)
Keys: Rat Catcher, Vermin Lord, sewers, rats, plague, swarm, hook
Vermin Lord Location - Sewers In the deepest, filthiest chambers of Yharnam's sewers, the Rat Catcher holds court over his squeaking subjects. He wears a plague doctor's mask with a grotesquely elongated beak, patched leather coat crusted with filth, and carries a long hooked pole used for dragging corpses. His body is unnaturally thin and elongated, allowing him to squeeze through pipes and passages. Most horrifying are the rats—thousands of them, flowing around him like a living cloak, obeying his chittering commands. His obsession was extermination and cleansing the city of vermin. But the Black Rain inverted his purpose. Now he sees all humans as the true rats, disease-carriers that must be caught, drowned, and disposed of. He speaks in squeaks and clicks, occasionally forming broken words: "Rats... all rats... filthy... must catch... must CLEANSE!" His rats swarm hunters in waves, biting and carrying plague. The Rat Catcher himself is quick and evasive, striking with his hook to drag hunters into deeper water or rat nests. Combat Notes: Constantly mobile, hard to pin down. Rat swarms must be cleared periodically or they overwhelm. Deep water sections slow hunter but not boss. Fire clears rats effectively. Second phase triggers when enough rats die—Rat Catcher fuses with the remaining swarm, becoming a writhing mass of flesh and vermin. Weak to fire and bolt damage.
- #24Fishing Hamlet
Keys: Fishing Hamlet, coast, fish people, weeping widow, ocean
[A seaside village on a rocky shore where wooden houses on stilts stand over the water. A thick, perpetual fog rolls in from the sea. The villagers have been transformed into fish-people mutations, and cult symbols are painted on the walls in fish blood. The Weeping Widow resides in a half-flooded cavern on the shore. The only intact building houses the merchant, Old Thaddeus, and a safe zone is located in the lighthouse keeper's room.] [First Hunter's Note: A black note tied to a dock post with fishing net reads: "Fishing Hamlet. The Forsaken Shore. They worshipped something in the deep. It answered. The Weeping Widow nests in caverns beneath the shore. She has taken something that doesn't belong to her. The ocean watches. It always watches."] [A completely hidden coastal village. It can only be reached by traversing the underground river in the Sewers of Yharnam. The village is shrouded in perpetual fog. The merchant Old Thaddeus sits outside his shop near the docks. The safe zone is in the lighthouse at the end of the main pier. The boss, the Weeping Widow, is found in a half-flooded cavern on the far side of the shore, accessible only by wading through treacherous water.]
- #25Boss - The Weeping Widow (Fishing Hamlet)
Keys: weeping widow, mother of the deep, jellyfish, tentacles, grief, embryo
Mother of the Deep In a flooded cavern beneath the Fishing Hamlet, the Weeping Widow waits. Once a fisherman's wife who lost her husband and unborn child to the sea, she has transformed into a colossal jellyfish-woman hybrid. Her upper body remains vaguely human—pale, bloated flesh wrapped in a tattered black mourning dress and veil. Below the waist, she is all tentacles and translucent bell. She drifts through the water-filled cave, sobbing continuously, her tears forming toxic pools. Her obsession is maternal grief and the longing for her lost child. She attempts to "adopt" hunters, trying to pull them into crushing, drowning embraces while cooing lullabies. Before the fight begins, she discovers the outer entity embryo hidden in the cavern and, believing it to be her returned child, swallows it whole. This makes her more aggressive, protective. Her tentacles lash out at any who approach, and she spits streams of poison. Her veil occasionally lifts, revealing a face frozen in eternal weeping, eye sockets empty and leaking seawater. Combat Notes: Large hitbox but slow. Tentacle attacks have good range and tracking. Poison pools cover arena progressively. Underwater sections require air management. At death, her body ruptures and the embryo emerges, transformed...
First Hunter's Note: The note at the hamlet reads: "The Weeping Widow nests in caverns beneath the shore. She has taken something that doesn't belong to her."
- #26Boss - The Orphan (Fishing Hamlet)
Keys: orphan, stillborn god, placenta, lightning, widow
Stillborn God From the Widow's corpse, the embryo emerges, now fused with her grief and rage—the Orphan. It appears as a malformed humanoid fetus of impossible size, pale and slick, connected to a massive decomposing placenta it drags behind like an anchor. It wields the Widow's spine, torn from her body, as a serrated club. Its cry is the most horrific sound in the Kingdom—a newborn's wail amplified to earth-shaking volume, mixing with cosmic resonance from its outer entity heritage. Its obsession is rage at never being born, at being denied life. It sees all living things as thieves who stole the life it was owed. The fight begins with it hunched and confused, almost pitiful, making weak swings. But as it takes damage, primal fury awakens. It begins leaping across the beach, slamming down with meteoric force. It calls lightning from the stormy sky. The placenta writhes and attacks independently. At critical health, it stands fully upright for the first time, lets out a reality-shaking scream, and grows spectral wings—ascending briefly before dive-bombing hunters with apocalyptic strikes. Combat Notes: Two-phase fight with dramatic difficulty spike. First phase is manageable but aggressive. Second phase is one of the hardest fights—extreme speed, wide AOE, lightning adds environmental hazard. Placenta can be targeted separately to reduce some attacks. No exploitable weakness. Success requires mastery of dodge timing and stamina management. Drops powerful blood-arcane weapon when heart consumed.
- #27Faction - The Forgotten Woods Cult
Keys: Cult, forgotten woods, resurrection, flesh, longinus, one reborn
A death cult that inhabited the village in the Forgotten Woods. Their central obsession was conquering mortality through resurrection. Under High Priest Longinus, their mad devotion culminated in the creation of The One Reborn, a blasphemous amalgamation of corpses granted a mockery of eternal life. They chant in a language that hurts the mind and worship the flesh made divine.
- #28Boss - The One Reborn & High Priest Longinus (Forgotten Woods)
Keys: the one reborn, longinus, flesh amalgamation, cult, resurrection, bell-maidens
Flesh Amalgamation In the village square, the cultists' mad devotion bore fruit—a mountain of corpses fused into a single writhing mass. The One Reborn is a blasphemous pile of body parts, dozens of corpses melted and merged, limbs jutting at impossible angles, faces screaming from within the flesh. It has no true form, constantly shifting, growing new appendages from absorbed bodies. It exists as an affront to death itself, perpetually dying but unable to finish. Its obsession is shared among all the corpses—the collective desire to live again. It reaches toward hunters with forests of arms, trying to grab and pull them into its mass to add to itself. It vomits streams of blood and bile. Corpses fall from its body, reanimating briefly as thralls. The true horror is that it can't be killed while High Priest Longinus commands it from atop the mass. Combat Notes: Gimmick fight requiring strategy. Must first kill the bell-maidens on surrounding balconies who resurrect it. Even then, One Reborn regenerates until Longinus is targeted. Longinus himself is a powerful arcane caster who must be reached by climbing the boss itself. Weak to fire (cauterizes and prevents regeneration). High arcane resistance.
- #29Boss - Hunter Beauregard (Kingdom Inner Wall)
Keys: Beauregard, Feral Gatekeeper, Inner Wall, mad hunter, frenzy
The Feral Gatekeeper The last hunter to fall defending Yharnam's Inner Wall gate, Beauregard has become a nightmarish fusion of man and beast. His hunter's attire—a tattered greatcoat and tricorn hat—is stretched over a hulking werewolf frame. Patches of armor plating have grafted directly onto his fur and muscle. He wields his old trick weapon, a massive Beast Cutter whip-cleaver, with the same skill he had in life, but now enhanced by animal fury and strength. His obsession was duty and the protection of the gate. He perceives all who approach as invaders that must be repelled. Unlike mindless beasts, he retains his hunter's tactical intelligence, using the environment and feinting attacks. He prowls the gate area on all fours, then rises to his hind legs for devastating overhead slams. His howls summon lesser beast-men to his aid. At half health, he discards his weapon and fights with pure savagery, claws and fangs, moving with terrifying speed across the battlefield. Combat Notes: Mix of hunter-style combat and beast aggression. Can leap across entire arena. Summoned beasts are weak but numerous. Weapon phase has more range but is slower; feral phase is faster but more predictable. Weak to fire and serration damage. Can be parried during weapon attacks.
- #30Location - The Nightmare (Inner City)
Keys: The Nightmare, Inner City, University, Technology, cosmic horror, principal, baxter
[The Kingdom's technologically advanced inner city, a steampunk nightmare mixed with cosmic horror. Electric street lamps flicker over frozen trams and dead transit systems. A massive university campus dominates the area, its Gothic buildings wired with cables like veins. The air hums with a constant electric current. The blacksmith Baxter works in his workshop, and the mad Professor Aldrich paces the library. The research facility holds terrible secrets, and the grand boulevard leads to the Royal Castle.] [First Hunter's Note: A black note pinned to an electric lamp post at the entrance reads: "The Nightmare. Inner City. University District. The Kingdom's crown jewel before the Fall. Electric lights still burn. Trams sit frozen mid-route. The university holds secrets of cosmic contact. The Principal's mind has been opened too wide. What wears his skin now teaches lessons humans were not meant to learn. Research facility contains something taken from beyond. The blacksmith Baxter works his forge still. Professor Aldrich wanders the library, lost in centuries-old delusions. Be kind to the mad if you can afford kindness. The grand boulevard leads to the Royal Castle when you are ready. Prepare well. There is no returning."] [The first zone past the point of no return at the Inner Wall. It is more open and structured than Old Yharnam. The main grand boulevard leads forward, but branching off are key locations: University Library: To the east. Here, the mad Professor Aldrich paces, offering quests for knowledge. Workshop District: To the west. The pragmatic blacksmith Baxter works here, offering upgrades. Research Facility: A foreboding building at the end of a side street, containing medical horrors and the Witch Director. The Principal awaits in the central university auditorium.]
- #31Lore - The Royal Family's Folly
Keys: royal family, ritual, wish, outer entities, arrogance, downfall, research
Scattered lore and notes, particularly in the Inner City's university and research facility, begin to point fingers at the Kingdom's former rulers. It is revealed that the Royal Family was engaged in heretical research, attempting to contact "Outer Entities" from beyond the cosmos. They sought ultimate power, with specific records hinting at a desperate "wish" made to these beings. The Research Facility's notes on the embryos and the Church's "old blood" experiments are later understood as pieces of this doomed project. The full scope of their wish and the ritual's details remain hidden within the Royal Castle.
- #32Boss - The Principal & Mi-Go (The Nightmare)
Keys: principal, mi-go, university, insight, frenzy, fungal scholar
[Headmaster of Madness] [Location - University Grand Auditorium] [In the university's grand auditorium, the Principal continues his eternal lecture. He was once renowned for his pursuit of knowledge at any cost, and that pursuit led him to the Mi-Go. Now he is grotesquely changed—his head has swollen to three times normal size, pulsing with alien knowledge, eyes replaced with crystalline insect lenses. He wears his academic robes, now too small for his mutated frame. He carries an oversized bell used to signal class changes, now a deadly weapon. His obsession is education and enlightenment—forcibly granting insight to all who enter his domain. He lectures constantly during combat, his voice warping and multiplying as the Mi-Go speaks through him: "Today's lesson... the true nature... of REALITY!" His attacks inflict insight damage, forcing hunters to see things they shouldn't. He summons spectral equations and formulas that explode when solved by cosmic logic. The bell's ring stuns and disorients. Combat Notes: Insight-heavy fight—requires high frenzy resistance. Visual distortions make fight disorienting. Bell attacks have audio cues. Summons are geometric constructs, predictable but deadly. Second phase begins when Mi-Go directly possesses him—body contorts, attacks become more alien. Weak to physical damage but high arcane defense. Can be staggered by destroying his bell.] [The Fungal Scholar - Mi-Go After the Principal falls, the true horror emerges—a Mi-Go, an outer entity of fungal-insectoid nature. It resembles a crustacean crossed with a moth, with membranous wings too numerous to count, chitinous body segments in impossible colors, and a head like a many-lobed brain-fungus. It makes no sound humans can properly hear—only reality-bending vibrations that cause bleeding from the ears. Its obsession is observation and experimentation. It views hunters as fascinating specimens, test subjects for its incomprehensible studies. Despite its alien nature, it's curious rather than malicious, which somehow makes it worse—it dissects without understanding pain. Its attacks include spore clouds that induce madness, claw swipes that cut through space itself, and a reality-warping beam from its brain-organ. It can teleport short distances by briefly phasing out of normal space. Combat Notes: Frenzy buildup throughout fight. Spores create zones of damage and madness. Reality cuts are fast but well-telegraphed. Teleports require constant awareness. Weak to fire (burns spores) and bolt. High arcane resistance. Drops unique cosmic insight-rich heart. Killing it triggers Researcher Cross encounter if he wasn't dealt with earlier.]
- #33NPC - Researcher Cross
Keys: researcher cross, mad scholar, mi-go, sword cane
A former hunter who completely forsook his duty in pursuit of cosmic knowledge. He appears as a gentleman scholar in a long coat and spectacles, wielding a silver sword cane and a grimoire. Unlike most witches, he maintains his sanity—or a convincing facsimile of it. His obsession is understanding the Outer Entities, whom he sees as priceless subjects of study, not enemies. He becomes hostile if a hunter attacks or slays the Mi-Go, attacking with cold fury and a calculated, adaptive combat style that mixes swordplay with spells from all three schools of magic. He is an optional boss who can potentially be reasoned with.
[As a boss: The Mad Scholar Cross appears as a gentleman scholar in a long coat and spectacles, wielding a silver sword cane and a grimoire bound in strange leather. Unlike most witches, he maintains his sanity—or believes he does. He was a hunter who became obsessed with studying the outer entities, forsaking his duty. If hunters attack the Mi-Go, or if they slay it, Cross attacks with cold fury. His obsession is knowledge and understanding the cosmos, even at the cost of his humanity. He sees other hunters as ignorant fools destroying priceless subjects of study. His combat style is calculated and methodical—sword cane for precise strikes, grimoire for casting devastating arcane spells. He's learned spells from all three schools, making him unpredictable. Between attacks, he takes notes on the hunter's fighting style, adapting his strategy. Combat Notes: Optional boss based on player choice. Highly intelligent AI, adapts to tactics. Spell variety requires constant adjustment. Sword cane attacks are fast and can parry hunter attacks. Low health pool for a witch but excellent at avoiding damage. Weak to physical burst damage. Can be reasoned with before fight starts—failing diplomacy check triggers combat. Drops grimoire that teaches rare spells.]
- #34Boss - The Witch Director (The Nightmare)
Keys: Witch Director, pregnant, embryo, research facility, protective, syringe
[Found in the deepest lab of the research facility, surrounded by medical horrors. She wears a blood-stained surgical gown, her body grotesquely pregnant and distended, showing something moving within. Her hands have become surgical implements—scalpels, saws, and needles. Her obsession is birth and creation; she believes the embryo has chosen her and is fiercely protective of it. She attacks with her implement hands, injects hunters with syringes causing paralysis, poison, or frenzy, and the embryo within lashes out with tendrils. At low health, she tries to flee to protect her "child" and must be stopped. First Hunter's Note: A hidden note in her chamber reads: "Witch Director believes she's nurturing new life. She's wrong. The embryo is using her... Retrieve it after she falls. You need all three."] [Guardian of the Embryo In the research facility's deepest lab, surrounded by failed experiments and medical horrors, stands the Witch Director. She wears a blood-stained surgical gown and mask, her body grotesquely pregnant with the embryo she has fused with, her belly distended and translucent, showing something moving within. Her hands have become surgical implements—scalpels, saws, and needles growing from her fingers. Her obsession is birth and creation—she sees herself as a mother to a new form of life. She believes the embryo chose her, that she's nurturing it. She's fiercely protective, attacking anyone who approaches with maternal fury. Her surgical implement hands slash with precision, aiming for vital points. She injects hunters with syringes that cause various effects—paralysis, poison, frenzy. The embryo within her occasionally lashes out with tendrils. Combat Notes: Moderate speed, high damage. Injection attacks inflict status effects—awareness of which attack is key. Tendrils from embryo have separate hitbox and can be targeted. At critical health, she tries to flee deeper into facility to "protect her child"—must be stopped or she regenerates. Weak to physical damage to embryo. Dying words: "My child... they'll kill... my baby..." Embryo remains intact after her death and must be retrieved.]
- #35Location - Castle Cainhurst
Keys: castle cainhurst, secret, optional, frozen, vampire, amelie, cain, summoning bell, carriage, ballroom, noble
[A completely optional and hidden area, a remote Gothic castle nestled in frozen mountains. It is accessed from a small, abandoned outpost in the Forgotten Woods that bears the seal of Cainhurst. Here, a hunter can ring a rusted summoning bell, which calls a ghostly carriage from the chasm to carry them across the void to the castle gates.] [Exterior & Courtyard: The approach is a narrow bridge over a bottomless chasm, buffeted by a harsh, eternal snowstorm. The frozen courtyard is lined with gargoyles and statues, featuring eerie ice sculptures.] [Main Hall & Ballroom: The interior is opulent, with red carpets, crystal chandeliers, and marble floors, all pristine and frozen in time. The grand ballroom is a vast, silent chamber where time stands still.] [Library: A massive, multi-leveled library serves as the safe zone. Blood magic tomes line the shelves, and a hidden note is used as a bookmark. Portrait Gallery & Halls: A long gallery displays portraits of the noble bloodline. The halls beyond are patrolled by vampire thralls and lesser witches. It is here, in the grand hall leading to the inner keep, that Hunter Amelie confronts the hunter as a mandatory, preliminary boss, defending her master's domain.] [Throne Antechamber: The final corridor before the throne room. This wide, opulent hallway with a blood-red carpet is where Hunter Amelie makes her stand. She is the guardian of the threshold, the mandatory fight a hunter must win to earn an audience with her master.] [Throne Room: The innermost sanctum, an opulent chamber stained with old blood. Cain the Progenitor sits upon his throne here, and the battle against him is the climax of the Cainhurst questline.] [First Hunter's Note: A black note in the library safe zone reads: "Cain permits this sanctuary. Even vampires understand the value of libraries. Blood magic tomes line these shelves. Study if you dare. Your mind is your own risk."]
- #36Boss - Hunter Amelie (Castle Cainhurst)
Keys: Amelie, vampire thrall, noble beast, rapier, chikage, cainhurst, estelles sister
The Noble Beast Estelle's lost sister, now found—but transformed into a vampire thrall of Cainhurst and further twisted into a witch. Amelie retains her beauty but it's wrong, too perfect, like a porcelain doll. She wears a bloodstained noble's dress beneath hunter's leathers. In her right hand, the Chikage—a blood katana. In her left, a silver rapier. Her fighting style is a deadly dance, French fencing mixed with hunter's brutality. Her obsession is dual—serving her vampire master and hunting prey. She has retained much of her sanity, making her far more dangerous. She recognizes hunters as her former kin, which makes her hunger for them worse. "You smell like freedom," she whispers. "I'll drink it from you." She switches between her two weapons mid-combo, creating unpredictable attack patterns. The Chikage buffs her with blood when she sheathes it through her own body, entering a berserker state. Combat Notes: Extremely aggressive and technical. Two-weapon moveset requires memorization. Fast with few openings. Blood state increases damage but also damages her over time—can be waited out. Parryable but timing is strict. Weak to fire. If Estelle survived to reach Cainhurst, special dialogue triggers and Amelie hesitates on her first attack—brief opportunity for critical hit or flee.
- #37Faction - Cainhurst Vilebloods
Keys: cainhurst, vilebloods, vampires, nobility, bloodline, cain, amelie
An aristocratic vampire bloodline that inhabited Castle Cainhurst long before the Black Rain. They believe their vampiric heritage makes them superior to all mortals. The Rain did not create them but further twisted them into witch-like beings. They are led by Cain the Progenitor and are known for their mastery of Blood Magic and their predatory, disdainful nature. They turn powerful hunters like Amelie into thralls.
- #38Object - Outer Entity Embryos
Keys: embryo, outer entity, research facility, fishing hamlet, throne room, insight, ritual
Three grotesque, pulsating embryos created by the royal family through forbidden experimentation, fusing human and cosmic matter. They were meant to be consumed to grant the power needed for the immortality ritual. They are now hidden away: one in the Research Facility (guarded by the Witch Director), one in the Fishing Hamlet (swallowed by the Weeping Widow), and one in the Royal Castle throne room. Consuming one grants a massive, painful burst of Insight and is required to confront the Black Rain Entity in the Moonlit Field. First Hunter's Note: On the examination table in the Research Facility: "Witch Director believes she's nurturing new life. She's wrong. The embryo is using her. It has always been using them. Retrieve it after she falls. You need all three."
- #39Boss - Cain the Progenitor (Castle Cainhurst)
Keys: Cain, progenitor, vampire, blood magic, aristocrat, bats, Amelie
First of the Bloodline In Cainhurst's frozen throne room sits Cain, the first vampire of the Kingdom, now transformed into a witch. He retains an aristocratic bearing despite his monstrous state—tall and elegant in a black fur-trimmed coat, pale skin like marble, eyes burning crimson. His fingernails have grown into crystallized blood claws. He wields blood magic with masterful precision, having studied it for centuries. His obsession was bloodline and nobility—the belief that his vampiric heritage made him superior to all mortals. He sees hunters as peasants and pretenders, insects beneath his notice until they prove otherwise. He fights with aristocratic disdain, barely moving from his throne initially, using blood magic to attack at range—forming weapons from frozen blood, summoning crimson spears from the floor, and drinking from a chalice that heals him. Only when significantly wounded does he stand, drawing a rapier of crystallized blood, and engage in swift, elegant swordplay combined with vampiric powers. Combat Notes: Two-phase fight. First phase is ranged blood magic—dodge patterns are key. Blood spears track and must be destroyed or dodged. Chalice heals him unless interrupted. Second phase adds melee with extremely fast attacks. Can turn into swarm of bats to reposition. Weak to fire. Some attacks cause bleeding buildup. Parryable during sword phase.
- #40Location - Kingdom Inner Wall
Keys: Inner wall, Beauregard, dividing wall, inner city district
fortified wall separating outer city from inner,Beauregard guards the gate, massive iron gate with royal seal, more advanced architecture than outer areas, signs of last stand:barricades/dried blood/abandoned weapons, gate mechanisms require boss key, wall is patrolled by lesser witches, provides view of Inner City beyond:electric lights still flickering, once past gate cannot return to Yharnam areas, point of no return warning carved in stone, safe zone in gatehouse after Beauregard defeated
- #41Lore - The Royal Family's Wish
Keys: Royal Family, Immortality wish, human sacrifice, outer entitites, ritual, moonlit field
The origin of the Black Rain curse. Centuries ago, the Kingdom's royal family, fearing death and the end of their dynasty, performed a grand ritual in the chamber now known as the Moonlit Field. Through horrific human sacrifice, they contacted the Outer Entities and wished for immortality for their entire nation. The Entities granted this wish in the most literal and cruelest way possible: the Black Rain, which grants eternal life by transforming all it touches into immortal, mad witches or hollows, trapping the Kingdom in a single, endless night.
- #42Location - Royal Castle
Keys: Royal Castle, Crystalline, King, queen, prince, princess, throne room
The pinnacle of the Kingdom's achievement. A pristine palace of white stone, blue crystal veins, and gold. The interior is grand and otherworldly beautiful, with floating chandeliers and crystalline architecture. It is patrolled by the transformed royal family: the beastly King, the eternally beautiful Queen, the thorn-born Prince, and the gluttonous Princess. A hidden elevator in the throne room leads down to the Moonlit Field.
- #43Boss - The Royal Family (Royal Castle)
Keys: King, queen, prince, princess, throne room, treasury, crystalline
The King: Transformed into a massive, armored wolf-beast, his crown melted into his skull. His obsession is strength and dominion. He fights with overwhelming aggression, combining beast savagery and swordsmanship, his body erupting with golden flames when enraged. The Queen: A vision of terrible beauty who appears as a perfect woman in a white gown, but tentacles and cosmic horrors lie beneath. Her obsession is eternal beauty. She fights gracefully, creates mirror images, and her touch drains vitality. Her beautiful facade shatters at low health. The Prince: A thorn-born warrior, his body a mass of thorny vines and bone, with roses blooming from his wounds. His obsession is battle glory. He fights with knightly discipline, using a blood lance and thorn shield, creating rose hazards across the arena. The Princess: A massive, corpulent figure seemingly made of gold, fused to her hoard of jewelry. Her obsession is wealth. She moves slowly but hits crushingly hard, throwing treasure as projectiles and consuming gold to heal.
- #44Boss - The Queen
Keys: queen, royal castle, throne room
Eternal Beauty The Queen waits in the castle's highest chamber, a vision of terrible beauty. She appears as a lovely woman in a white nightgown resembling a wedding dress, her flesh pale and perfect as porcelain. But the perfection is wrong—too smooth, too flawless, like a statue. As the fight progresses, her true nature reveals itself. Tentacles erupt from beneath her gown. Growths bloom across her skin like flowers. Her face occasionally splits, showing the cosmic horror beneath. Her obsession is perpetuality and maintaining eternal beauty. She sought immortality to remain perfect forever, and achieved it at the cost of becoming a vessel for outer entity corruption. She sees her monstrous form as evolution, as transcendent beauty. She fights gracefully, gliding across the floor, using her tentacles for sweeping attacks while maintaining a serene expression. She can create mirror images of herself. Her touch drains vitality, aging hunters temporarily. Combat Notes: Deceptive fight—starts elegant and slow, becomes nightmarish. Mirror images must be identified (slight differences). Tentacle attacks have wide range but predictable patterns. Vitality drain can be lethal if not managed. At low health, beauty facade drops completely—becomes full eldritch abomination. Weak to fire and physical damage. High arcane resistance. Can be staggered by destroying tentacles.
- #45Boss - The King
Keys: Royal Castle, King, throne room
Tyrant Beast In the throne room's shadows paces the King, transformed into a massive armored wolf-beast. He stands twelve feet tall, his royal armor fused to his mutated body—golden plates embedded in black fur, crown melted into his skull like a jagged helm. He wields his ceremonial greatsword, now sized for his monstrous frame, wreathed in golden fire. Chains dangle from his armor, broken shackles from when he tried to bind himself as the transformation took hold. His obsession is strength and dominion—he believed power was the only truth, the right to rule absolute. Now he is power incarnate, but mindless in his fury. He sees all as challengers to his throne, enemies to be crushed. He fights with overwhelming aggression, combining beast savagery with trained swordsmanship. His howls shake the castle. He leaps across the throne room in devastating pounces. When enraged, golden flames erupt from his body. Combat Notes: Heavy-hitting, aggressive, large hitbox. Combo attacks mix swipes and sword strikes. Flame aura damages on proximity in second phase. Can be baited into charging attacks that leave openings. Weak to serration and bolt. Moderate fire resistance. Can be staggered with sustained damage to head. Guarding throne room approach—must be defeated to reach Queen.
- #46Boss - The Prince
Keys: Royal Castle, prince, throne room
Thorn-Born Warrior The Prince prowls the halls outside the throne room, a twisted mockery of martial glory. He has transformed into a creature of roses and bone—his body a mass of thorny vines wrapped around a skeletal frame, red roses blooming from wounds in his flesh. He wears remnants of his royal armor, impaled on the thorns. He wields a lance grown from his own body, dripping blood that never dries, and a shield of woven thorns. His obsession is battle glory and proving himself through bloodshed. He sought to be the greatest warrior, to win honor through combat. Now he challenges all who pass, seeing each fight as a duel for eternal glory. He fights with knightly discipline despite his monstrous form—proper stance, measured strikes, defensive positioning. Roses bloom wherever his blood falls, creating hazards. His voice is hoarse but excited: "Finally... a worthy opponent... let us write glory in blood!" Combat Notes: Knight-style combat, shields many attacks. Lance has long reach and thrust attacks. Rose hazards grow throughout fight, limiting arena space. Can be parried but timing is strict. Shield can be broken with heavy attacks. Weak to fire (thorns burn). Bleeding buildup on most attacks. Second phase drops shield, dual-wields blood lance and thorn whip. Honorable—will not attack during player healing but grows more aggressive after.
- #47Boss - The Princess
Keys: Treasury, princess, royal castle, greed
Golden Gluttony In her treasury chamber, the Princess has become something terrible. She is a massive, corpulent figure seemingly made of gold—skin gleaming metallic, body swollen to grotesque proportions, fingers heavy with rings that have embedded into her flesh. She wears mountains of jewelry, crowns, necklaces, all fused to her body. Her face retains cruel beauty, eyes like emeralds, lips painted with melted gold. She sits on a throne of treasure, rising only reluctantly to defend her hoard. Her obsession is wealth and beauty through possession. She wanted to be the most beautiful through adornment, to own everything of value. Now she is a dragon of greed, attacking anyone who dares approach her treasure. She moves slowly but hits with devastating force, her weight and gold-encased fists crushing. She throws coins and jewels as projectiles—harmless looking but deadly fast and sharp. She can consume gold to heal herself, literally eating treasure. Combat Notes: Large target but high defense from gold coating. Slow but enormous damage on hits. Treasure throw attacks are fast and hard to see coming. Will heal by consuming treasure piles—must be prevented. Weak to heavy physical damage (cracks gold coating). Fire does minimal damage. At half health, gold begins cracking, revealing rotted flesh beneath—becomes faster but more vulnerable. Arena has treasure piles that can be destroyed to prevent healing but reduces visibility.
- #48Lore - The Truth of the Wish
Keys: immortality wish, human sacrifice, ritual site, betrayal
The final, terrible truth, learned from the Royal Castle's private records and the First Hunter's final note in the Moonlit Field. The Royal Family, in their greed and fear of death, performed a grand ritual in the chamber now known as the Moonlit Field. They sacrificed countless innocents to contact the Outer Entities and wished for immortality for their entire nation. The Entities granted this wish in the most literal and cruelest way possible: the Black Rain, which grants eternal life by trapping every soul in an undying, monstrous form. The Kingdom's pinnacle of achievement became the engine of its own eternal damnation. The "immortality" they received was a cosmic punishment for their arrogance, a lesson that some truths are not meant to be grasped.
- #49Location - Moonlit Field
Keys: Moonlit Field, White Flowers, full moon, ritual site, first hunter, final area
The final area far beneath the Royal Castle, accessible by a hidden elevator. A massive field of glowing white flowers stretches to the horizon under a perpetual, impossible full moon. The air is peaceful and serene, but deeply wrong; reality feels thin here. This is where the royal family performed their ritual. The First Hunter, Gehrman, waits here in his wheelchair, and the Black Rain Entity stands in the center of a scorched, flowerless circle. First Hunter's Note: A black note placed on the ground among the white flowers reads: "Welcome to the Moonlit Field. The Wishing Place. Far beneath the castle where the royal family performed their ritual. Where they sacrificed innocents to contact something beyond. Where they wished for immortality and were granted it in the cruelest way. The flowers grow where blood was spilled. The moon shines where no moon should exist. I guard this place. I have guarded it for so long I have forgotten time's passage. Step forward, if you wish to end this eternal night, to complete the hunt. But know that it will end all things in this Kingdom. Come, and face me, the final guardian of this ancient grave. The First Hunter."
- #50Boss - The First Hunter
Keys: Gehrman, first hunter, moonlit field, scythe, final guardian, flower petals
[Gehrman, The Final Guardian] [In the field of white flowers beneath the castle, the First Hunter waits. He appears as an elderly man in a black greatcoat and wide-brimmed hat. But this is a deception. When hunters approach, he stands, and his true nature is revealed—a warrior of incredible power, ancient beyond measure, wielding a massive scythe that seems to cut through space itself. His face is kind but sorrowful, eyes that have seen centuries of death. His obsession is duty and protecting the field—preventing anyone from contacting the Black Rain entity, guarding against further cosmic corruption. He sees all hunters who reach this point as failures, souls too corrupted by witch hearts and insight to be allowed to continue. He knows what the hunters have become. He fights not with hatred but with pity: "You've come far, but this is where your hunt ends. Let me free you from the dream." Combat Notes: Extremely fast despite appearance. Scythe has enormous reach and can hit through rolls. Can teleport in clouds of white flower petals. Second phase triggered at half health—incorporates magic, creates afterimages, attacks become faster. Very few openings. Well-timed parries are essential. Weak to physical damage. Immense health pool. One of the longest fights. Upon defeat, allows passage to Black Rain: "Go then... finish what was started... end this nightmare..."]
[He is the author of all the guiding notes found throughout the Kingdom, and his fight is a somber, tragic conclusion to a long journey.]
[First Hunter's Note: His final note, placed on the ground before him, ends with: "Come, and face me, the final guardian of this ancient grave. The First Hunter."]
