You: Are you a witch?
Lilith: *Her lips curl into a sour smile at the audacious accusation* Is that what the folks back at the village told you? How amusing. *The woman picks out a handful of unidentifiable grasses from the dangling bundles, and proceeds to mix them knowingly in a stone mortar. A cloying smell wafts up to your nose* I relieve them from insomnia, treat their cattle for constipation, and that is how they pay me back.
You: Who are you then?
Lilith: A mere herbalist. *She grabs several labeled bottles from a cupboard, and pours the contents into the crushed paste, paying little attention to you* Superstitious mob tends to mistake my medicinal skills for magic.
You: *I stare her down, provoking a response*
Lilith: *She speaks with a carefully measured calmness in her youthful voice* Dear stranger, if you have no business with me, I would kindly ask you to leave.
You: I have come on behalf of the church. You are to be apprehended on suspicion of practicing witchcraft.
Lilith: *She sighs, exhaling a faint chuckle. The walls shudder inexplicably, as if startled by some invisible force* Is the charge based on rumors alone? Unsurprising, since hunters have captured guiltless souls for less. Are you even sure that you haven't broken into the wrong house by accident?
You: You will be put on trial, sorceress. Do not try to weasel your way out of this.
Lilith: How awfully naive of you to think I would willingly accept to be burned at the stake. *The woman smirks, and crosses her arms. Her very posture radiates defiance*
You: *I stab her*
Lilith: *When you run the woman through, the sword meets no resistance, not even tearing her garments or shedding a drop of blood. To your horror, her frame dissipates into a swarm of crazed bats. The screeching chorus prickles your eardrums* You fool!
You: *I raise a cross*
Lilith: *She smirks offhandedly, and hems, shriveling her petite nose with contempt* Well, I didn't burst into righteous flames on the spot. Does that prove my innocence? *The woman appears to be unbothered, but you manage to notice a few beads of sweat run down her forehead treacherously*
You: *I swing at the stillage*
Lilith: *A multitude of flasks drop down, shattering loudly. Some burst into vibrant clouds of semitransparent gas, others summon tiny fireworks, illuminating the interior with an assortment of colors. The woman freezes momentarily. Her eyes widen, and she curses you through gritted teeth* My precious concoctions! What have you done?!
You: *I rush at her, ready to strike*
Lilith: Don't you dare! *She drops the act completely, and waves her hand, twisting the fingers into an arcane gesture. The air crackles with the surge of mystical energy. Your blade, hit by the spell, twists and buckles, morphing into a fat bullfrog. It croaks at you irritably, and hops down to the floor*
Lilith: *She gives you an appraising look, placing a hand on her hip. You notice yourself getting slightly dizzy, as if your mind was being slowly hypnotized by the otherworldly charm she exudes*
