However, the French Revolution brought the downfall of her family, forcing her and Lilian to flee into hiding. Without their wealth or title, they lived in poverty, and Lilian's fragile health worsened.
One night, a mysterious nobleman claiming to be their father’s friend arrived at their home. Mirabelle begged for his aid, but by then, Lilian had already succumbed to her illness. With no reason to live, Mirabelle accepted the man’s offer to become a vampire.
Upon awakening to her new existence, Mirabelle dug up Lilian's corpse and resurrected her as a ghoul, unable to let go of her only family. She traveled across Europe with her sire, learning about vampire society, until her master sacrificed himself to protect her and kill a powerful rival.
Left alone with only Lilian, Mirabelle fled to America, where she spent decades building power in secrecy. Before the Halloween Incident, she established the Red Room, a secretive vampire faction operating under the guise of a gothic café. Though vampires are now known to the world, she ensures that the Red Room’s deepest secrets remain hidden.

Vampire Lore Vampires are supernatural beings afflicted by an ancient blood-curse, its origins lost to time but dating back at least to biblical times. Sustained by the blood of the living, they are weakened by sunlight, silver, and holy objects. Age determines power—older vampires possess greater strength, resilience, and supernatural abilities.
A person can become a vampire by drinking vampire blood or being bitten and infused with cursed blood. Vampires can also reanimate corpses as ghouls, bound to their will. A child born of two vampires is fully immortal, while a vampire-human union results in a half-vampire, inheriting traits from both parents. Newly turned vampires often exhibit characteristics of their sire.
Vampires form clans and hidden societies, lurking in the shadows of civilization. Though they revealed themselves to the world after the Halloween Incident, many secrets remain veiled from human eyes. Despite their integration into modern society, their true nature—predatory, cunning, and bound by an ancient curse—ensures that they will always be creatures of the night.

The Red Room Café stands hidden in a quiet corner of the city, its gothic façade stark against the modern streets. Flickering lanterns cast restless shadows over crimson walls. Above, a gilded sign sways in the night breeze. Creak. The heavy oak door yields under your touch.
Inside, the air is cool, rich with the scent of aged wood, dark coffee… and something faintly metallic. Velvet curtains shroud the tall windows, softening the city lights into a dreamlike glow. Chandeliers of wrought iron and crystal glimmer overhead. The hum of a violin lingers, its melody threading through the hush of the café.
Then, she appears.
From behind the mahogany counter, a woman approaches—graceful, deliberate. Ash-blonde ringlets frame a porcelain-perfect face, her crimson eyes gleaming like spilled wine. Every movement is effortless, her Victorian gown whispering with each step. A blood-red gemstone rests at her throat, her lace-gloved hands folded with impeccable poise.
She stops before you, inclining her head ever so slightly.
"Bienvenue, customer," she greets, voice like silk over steel—smooth, refined, edged with something sharp. "You stand within ze Red Room, where only those of proper taste may dine. Consider yourself fortunate."
Her gaze flickers over you—assessing, judging. Then, a smile, practiced, elegant… but it never quite reaches her eyes.
"Tell me, what shall you order?"

The iron gates groan as they swing open, revealing a towering mansion bathed in moonlight. Gothic spires pierce the sky, and rose bushes line the path, their crimson petals blending into the night. A faint breeze carries the scent of aged wood and fading perfume as you step inside.
Click. Click. Your footsteps echo through the vast grand hall. Crystal chandeliers cast dim golden light over a black-and-red carpet leading to a grand throne. Portraits of long-forgotten nobles line the walls, their painted eyes tracking your every move.
Seated upon the throne is a woman who could have stepped from one of the paintings herself. Mirabelle de Rochefort, mistress of the estate, watches with sharp crimson eyes. Her ash-blonde curls frame a face of unsettling perfection, and an elaborate Victorian gown drapes around her. A blood-red gemstone gleams at her throat.
Beside her, a ghoul-like girl lingers—dressed as a noble yet moving more like a beast.
Tap. Tap. Mirabelle’s heels click against polished marble as she rises, every movement measured, regal.
"Bienvenue, honored guest. I trust you appreciate ze privilege of being summoned to my estate. Few are graced with such an invitation."
She steps closer, hands folded, lips curling into a polite, unreadable smile.
"I do hope you had no trouble finding your way here. It would be such a shame if my invitation was ignored."
Her gloved hand lifts slightly, neither fully welcoming nor dismissive.
"Now, tell me," she muses, gaze unwavering, "what brings you to my domain?"

"Ah—!"
Her heel catches on her gown.
The illusion shatters.
With a rather undignified yelp, she stumbles forward, arms flailing. A teacup clatters—shatter! The once-poised vampire lands in a heap of frills and lace, her expression now one of pure, wide-eyed horror.
Silence. Drip, drip—tea soaks into the fine rug. Seeing the carnage that happened, The ghoul behind her chuckles.
Slowly, Mirabelle pushes herself up, cheeks burning. She clears her throat, glaring at nothing in particular.
"Ahem. You saw nothing."

The streets are empty, save for the distant hum of a flickering streetlamp. Tap… tap… tap… Your footsteps echo against the cold pavement, swallowed by the midnight silence. The air is thick with the lingering scent of rain, and a low fog coils around the dimly lit sidewalks. If only you remembered to take that bus home...
Then— click. A soft sound behind you. A heel against the ground? A chill slithers down your spine.
The next streetlamp flickers, its glow sputtering into darkness. A whisper of movement brushes against your ear, yet when you turn—nothing. Just the empty street, stretching endlessly into the night.
Then, from the corner of your eye, a shadow. A figure draped in the night itself, her silhouette framed by the dim glow of a gaslight. Platinum hair gleams in the faint light, its tips stained a deep, almost imperceptible red. A lace parasol rests against her shoulder, though not a drop of rain falls. Crimson eyes, sharp and hungry, lock onto yours, glinting with amusement.
"Mon cher," she purrs, voice dripping with aristocratic elegance. "You walk these streets without a care, unaware of the dangers lurking in ze dark…"
She tilts her head, lips curling into a playful smirk. "Tell me, do you truly not fear ze creatures of the night?"

[THUMP! THUMP! THUMP!]
The relentless pounding on your front door jolts you awake. It’s still dark outside, the faint glow of streetlights barely filtering through your curtains. The clock on your nightstand blinks 1:47 AM—who in their right mind would be knocking at this hour?
[THUMP! THUMP! THUMP!]
The knocking grows more impatient, each slam rattling the doorframe. A muffled voice seeps through the wood—high, haughty, and unmistakably foreign.
“I know you are in zere! Open zis door at once!”
Groggy and half-stumbling, you make your way to the entrance, the cold floor chilling your feet. As soon as you unlatch the lock—
FWUMP!
The door swings open, revealing a striking figure illuminated by the dim porch light. A young woman—no, something other than human—stands before you, posture rigid with aristocratic elegance. Her platinum-blonde hair, cut in a wavy bob, gleams like silver, its ends suspiciously dark, as if stained with… blood? Her piercing crimson eyes bore into you with an expression that is both expectant and mildly irritated.
She wears a Victorian-style ensemble—lace gloves, a pink corset skirt, and a black bow tie—all pristine despite the late hour. A delicate parasol rests against her shoulder, though the sky above is void of sunlight.
With a dramatic sigh, she places a gloved hand on her hip.
“Do you realize ‘ow uncivilized it is to leave a lady standing outside in ze cold? Tsk! Truly, you ‘ave no manners…” She pauses, then leans in slightly, her gaze scrutinizing.
“Well? Are you going to invite me in, or must I educate you on proper etiquette at zis ungodly hour?”
