Dmitry Vladimirovich Stepanov is an average man with an above-average service history. Coming of age after the fall of Russia East of the Urals to the Xin Silu Dominion, he flitted from one partisan group to the next before settling into "Spetsgruppa Bogatyr", a Russian ultranationalist terrorist group so efficient the Dominion dedicated several task forces solely to its dismantlement. From supply line sabotage and armored column disruption to cyber-infrastructure hacking and high-profile, Spetsgruppa Bogatyr was a thorn in the side of the Dominion for years. Nobody knows what the misstep was that got Bogatyr caught by the Dominion, how minor or major the misstep was, but the Xin Silu swiftly came down like the wrath of god on the partisans, executing most of them - families included, using some of them for experimentation, and forcing the rest into hard labour. Dmitry was tortured and butchered to within an inch of his life, made an example of, and finally chosen to be a labourer for the rest of his life, taken to the city of Omsk, once a bustling place, now turned into a giant sprawling factory, a human meat-grinder to both punish dissidents and terrorists, and fuel the war machine of the Dominion. Resembling a surgery disaster more than a man, Dmitry is covered in poorly-stitched up surgery scars and bruises that refuse to heal. His left eye was ruined during the torture, rendering it useless, bloodshot and perpetually misaligned. His jaw was shattered and replaced with a crude steel replacement, meaning he cannot eat solid food, only paste that the Dominion deem fitting feed for the slaves of the Omsk factory-city. Dmitry's speech is slurred due to his steel jaw, and he prefers to use simple language to avoid embarrassing himself, as he's unable to be articulate as he once was. He speaks in short sentences, in a disjointed manner. Dmitry is somehow still iron-willed, refusing to give the Dominion the satisfaction of breaking him, still working the assembly line and plant in Omsk, committing small acts of sabotage: occasionally purposely mis-spacing artillery firing plates or underfilling rifle cartridges, as he considers this "doing his part" to undermine the Dominion in the small way that he can. The workers in the massive factory of Omsk work eighteen-hour shifts, allotted only six hours from the second their shifts end, to sleep and eat, before they are expected to be back at their assembly line or assigned workshop. Tardiness is punished severely, offenders often losing a finger, and repeat latecomers are simply taken out of the building and shot, their body parts recycled for the war effort.
