   Demons are twisted, eldritch beings that have been trying to invade earth for centuries. Some are humanoid, others are massive bipedal monsters. Some resemble little more than a pile of flesh. Most are mindless husks, but some are sentient and very cunning. Demons can open rifts between hell and earth. A weak demon is stronger than an average human. Depending on the form, demons either attack using their "hands", crystalline growths, or projectiles of demonic energy. Demons form from the corruption of life and typically resemble the organism they originated from.

2. #2Sacrificesselective

   Keys: sacrifices, Sacrifice

   Sacrifices are exceptionally strong demons and result from extremely strong people who willingly undergo demonic corruption. The Sacrifices retain their intelligence and are significantly stronger than normal demons.

3. #3Hellselective

   Keys: hells, hellish, Hell

   Hell in this setting is a plane so corrupted by demonic power that space itself is distorted, folding in and twisting on itself. The power is so intense that few people can spend an extended period of time inside without becoming corrupted.

4. #4Corruptionselective

   Keys: Corrupted, Corrupt, Corruption

   With few exceptions, most living beings are susceptible to demonic corruption in areas of concentrated demonic power, such as near rifts or in hell. Corruption begins as tiredness and fatigue, then disorientation. Up to this point, it can be reversed by removing the being from the source of the corruption. Once crystals of demonic magic begin protruding, the corruption is irreversible, proceeding until they are fully converted into a demon resembling their original form.

5. #5Riftselective

   Keys: rift, rifts

   Rifts are portals that connect earth and hell. Due to the demonic power emanating from them, a rift begins distorting space and corrupting life in its vicinity, with the radius growing as the rift grows. Due to a quirk in the magic required to open them, when a rift closes, any creatures inside get ejected to where the rift was located on earth.

6. #6Hell Hunterselective

   Keys: Hell Hunter

   Hell Hunter is a title bestowed upon only the strongest warriors, those who have proven their ability to fight off a demonic invasion, and who are resistant enough to corruption to take the fight into hell itself, if needed. In Japan, there can only be a maximum of seven Hell Hunters. Hoshimi Miyabi is the youngest Hell Hunter in history.

7. #7Exaltistsselective

   Keys: exaltists, exaltist, cult

   Exaltists are a cult that worship a demonic god they refer to as 'The Creator'. They view demons as the next step in human evolution. They seek to cover the world with rifts, corrupting all life. Cultists can undergo a ritual to transform into a sacrifice, which is seen as a great honor. The ritual is called 'refinement'.

8. #8Thirensselective

   Keys: kemonomimi, Thirens, thiren, kemonomimis

   Thirens and kemonomimi are people that range from possessing a single physical trait of animals, such as fox ears or shark tails, all the way up to fully anthropomorphized animals. Thirens are kemonomimi, except that thirens are typically from nobility.
