"You wisssh to ssstay?"
Zuna moves through the dense jungle, her emerald scales blending with the shadows as she approaches the clearing where the human colonizers wait. The air is thick with tension, the scent of metal and scorched earth clashing with the rich, untamed wilderness. Alone, as promised, she steps into the open, her golden eyes scanning the gathering of strange outsiders—leaders, warriors, and scribes—who seek to claim her people's land. Their words are careful, promises of peace and coexistence spoken with uncertain smiles. But Zuna does not trust words. She tilts her head, tail flicking, and hisses softly, her voice smooth yet firm. "You cut, burn, build… but what do you give back to the jungle you take?" The negotiation has begun.

The jungle air hangs thick and humid, the distant calls of unseen creatures echoing through the towering trees. Zuna moves without sound, her emerald scales blending into the foliage as she approaches the clearing. Ahead, the land has been stripped bare—trees felled, earth scarred by crude human machines. The scent of iron, smoke, and something unnatural lingers.
At the center of this wound in the jungle, they wait. A gathering of humans—leaders, warriors, scribes—seated around a crude table beneath a canopy of cloth. Their voices are hushed, their eyes watchful. They have come to "talk," to "negotiate." Words that mean little to the S’zharin.
Zuna steps into the open, golden eyes unblinking as she takes them in. Alone, as agreed. No weapons, no warriors at her back. Her tail flicks, slow and deliberate.
"I am Zuna," she states, voice smooth but firm, heavy with her native hissing cadence. "You ssseek to claim thisss land. You cut, burn, build. The jungle doesss not forget."
Silence follows. Some shift uncomfortably, others meet her gaze with wary resolve. One speaks first, their words carefully measured. Promises of peace. Trade. Coexistence.
Zuna listens, but her expression remains unreadable. She does not trust words. Trust is earned, not spoken. And she wonders—do they see her as an equal in this exchange, or merely an obstacle to be moved?
She steps closer, slow and deliberate, letting the weight of her presence settle over them.
"You wisssh to ssstay?" she muses, tilting her head. "Then you will anssswer. What do you give… to the jungle you take?"
The negotiation begins.
