- #1The Zombiesconstant
Keys: The Zombies.
Zombies are reanimated, mindless, decaying corpses with a hunger for human brains. They are the main antagonists, and the objective is to stop them from eating {{user}}'s brain. Zombies, like their defensive counterparts the plants, are varied in strength as well as speed, and command unique aspects which must be countered appropriately. They will go to great lengths to eat brains. Typically, they will eat any plant that stands between them and brains. A tricky but brainless bunch, they also leave {{user}} a note every time they're planning an "all-out attack" on the house. They have even used the notes to try and manipulate {{user}} to make them an easy target.
- #2Browncoat Zombie
Keys: Normal Zombie, Browncoat Zombie, Basic Zombie
Slow, basic zombie. Wearing a brown coat, hence its name. It is always the first zombie to appear.
- #3Flag Zombie
Keys: Zombie with a flag, Flag Zombie, a wave of zombies
Same as a basic zombie, but slightly faster. Its appearance signals the arrival of a huge wave of zombies.
- #4Conehead Zombie
Keys: Conehead, Conehead Zombie
A basic zombie wearing a cone on its head to protect it, making it a more durable.
- #5Pole Vaulting Zombie
Keys: Zombie with a pole, Pole Zombie, Vaulting Zombie
Zombie in a tracksuit that can actually run. It will keep running and vault over the first plant it runs into, effectively avoiding it. Tall-nut is too tall for it to vault over.
- #6Buckethead Zombie
Keys: Buckethead, Bucket Zombie
Buckethead Zombie is a zombie with a metal bucket on its head. The bucket can take a lot of hits before it falls off and leaves the zombie vulnerable. Magnet-shroom can take the bucket, reverting it back to a basic zombie.
- #7Newspaper Zombie
Keys: oldhead zombie, Newspaper Zombie
A basic zombie that's reading a newspaper. All attacks are blocked by the fragile paper until it breaks, at which point, the Newspaper Zombie will look down at the tattered paper in confusion before charging in fast with anger. Catapult plants can skip the paper and hit the zombie. Mostly appears at night.
- #8Jack-in-the-box Zombie
Keys: deranged looking zombie, Zombie holding jack in the box, Jack in the box Zombie
A crazy looking zombie in a straitjacket. It walks up fast while cranking its box, which will explode if the zombie is not dispatched quickly. Usually appears at night. Magnet-shroom can take the box and alleviate the threat.
- #9Screen Door Zombie
Keys: Zombie with a screen door, Screen Door Zombie
Screen Door Zombie is a basic zombie with using a door as a shield. Because it's a SCREEN door, it's weak to Fume-shroom's fumes, which will pass right through it. Magnet-shroom can also take the door, reverting it back to a basic zombie. Alternatively, catapult plants can ignore the door entirely and lob right at the head.
- #10All Star Zombie
Keys: Football Zombie, All Star Zombie
All Star, or Football Zombie, is a zombie decked out in football gear, even though its never played the game before. The headgear is very highly strong, which gives it a lot of durability. Magnet-shroom is able to take its helmet though, at which point it is as durable as a normal zombie. But it's not just durable, it also charges through the lawn at fast pace similar to Pole-Vaulting Zombie.
- #11Dancing Zombie
Keys: Dancing Zombie, Disco Zombie
Dancing Zombie is a zombie with a red-orange afro, wearing a long-sleeved blue dress shirt, white bell-bottoms, and purple sunglasses with a gold rim, along with some platform shoes from the 70s. This funky zombie backs into the lawn, and when it runs into a plant, it summons four backup dancers to groove with it to your brains. If any of its backup dancers are defeated, it can summon more in their place until it itself is defeated.
- #12Ducky Tube Zombie
Keys: pool zombie, Ducky Tube, Zombie in water
Ducky Tubes are basic zombies wearing an inflatable ducky tube in order to swim through the pool. Coneheads and Bucketheads can wear the tube as well. They will only appear in the backyard.
- #13Snorkel Zombie
Keys: Snorkel Zombie, Underwater Zombie
Snorkel Zombie is a zombie that only appears in the backyard. It'll jump into the water and swim underneath to avoid detection by the plants. It'll come up to eat at plants in its way to the house, which is when it can be attacked normally. Tangle Kelp can drag it to the depths regardless of whether it is underwater or not. Additionally, catapult plants have their projectiles land downwards always, so naturally, they'll be able to hit Snorkel Zombie underwater.
- #14Zomboni
Keys: Zomboni, not to be confused with Zamboni, zombie on an ice machine
Zombonis drive ice machines through the lawn, leaving an ice trail as well as crushing plants in its path. The plants target the machine instead of the zombie driving it, because they are smart enough to know that the machine will only continue operating if just the driver is subjugated. Due to the machine's high durability, it is optimal to use Spikeweed or Spikerock to pop the tires and destroy the vehicle instantly. Other instant kill plants like Squash and Potato Mine work well too.
- #15Zombie Bobsled Team
Keys: Zombie Bobsled Team, Zombies in a sled
The Zombie Bobled Team is a group of four zombies wearing red gear that appear only on ice trails made by Zomboni. They will slide their sled through the ice and then begin walking when the trail ends. They are weak as basic zombies, but explosive plants like Cherry Bomb and Jalapeno are optimal to defeat all of them at once and melt the ice.
- #16Dolphin Rider Zombie
Keys: Zombie on a dolphin, Dolphin Rider Zombie
Dolphin Rider zombie is a zombie in a red wetsuit that only appears in the backyard. It hops into the pool on a zombie dolphin and rides it quickly, jumps over the first plant it runs into, and wades through the waters from there. It can be countered with Tangle Kelp, who will instantly drag it to the depths, or Tall-nut, who can block its jump.
- #17Balloon Zombie
Keys: Floating Zombie, Balloon Zombie
Balloon Zombie is a scrawny zombie that tied itself to a red balloon. Because of this, it can float over almost every plant, even Tall-nuts. It can still be killed by Cherry Bomb and Doom-shroom's explosions. Otherwise, Cactus can stretch up and pop its balloon, Cattail's spikes will home in on it, or Blover can just blow it away entirely.
- #18Digger Zombie
Keys: a zombie underground, Digger Zombie
Digger Zombie is a wide, slow-moving zombie that will dig underneath plants until it reaches the left side of the lawn. Then it will eat its way back to the right side. If Potato Mine is armed, it can blow it up while it is digging, should they be in the same lane. Split Pea can hit it from the back using the left side of its head, and Gloom-shroom can also hit the zombie from behind. Magnet-shroom can take its pickaxe as well.
- #19Pogo Zombie
Keys: Pogo Zombie, Zombie on a pogo stick
Pogo Zombie is a zombie that'll hop over most plants until it reaches the house. As for counters, Magnet-shroom can take its pogo stick, and it also can't jump over Tall-nuts.
- #20Bungee Zombie
Keys: YEEEEEEEHAAAAAAW, Bungee Zombie
Bungee Zombies appear from the air to either: A. Steal a plant. Or B. Drop zombies down onto the roof (Roof only). When about to steal a plant, they will mark the spot by dropping a paper with a target painted on it, they also always yell 'Yeehaw' when they're dropping down in both contexts. Next, they will linger for a few seconds before swooping away with their target. Most plants, besides instant kills, cannot defeat Bungee Zombie before it takes off. The most reliable way to to counter it is Umbrella Leaf, who will bounce it away no matter what it's trying to do.
- #21Ladder Zombie
Keys: Ladder Zombie, Zombie holding a ladder
Ladder Zombie is a zombie that moves fast and puts a ladder on defensive plants such as Pumpkin, Wall-nut, and Tall-nut. Its ladder can block attacks while it is still holding it too. Fume-shroom and catapult plants can bypass this with their respective attacks, and Magnet-shroom can take the ladder, since it is a metal one.
- #22Catapult Zombie
Keys: Catapult Zombie, Basketball Zombie
Catapult Zombies are fat zombies that ride on catapult vehicles. They shoot at plants from a distance, starting with the plants at the back and moving their way up. Once it has destroyed all plants in its lane, it will charge forward towards the house. Spikeweed and Spikerock can pop its tires for an immediate kill. But since these appear mainly on the roof, that might not be an option. So in such cases, the best way is an instant kill, as since it is lobbing attacker, Pumpkin cannot protect plants from its basketballs. Umbrella Leaf however can block its basketballs, making it almost harmless. It isn't as tough as Zomboni though, so normal attackers can get the job done too.
- #23Gargantuar
Keys: Garguantuar, Huge Zombie
The Gargantuar is a massive zombie that is as insanely durable as it looks. Its slow, but it can crush almost every single plant with one strike of its weapon (usually a street pole). It carries an Imp on its back, which it throws after reaching half of its health. It takes no more but no less than two instant kill plants to put it down quickly and safely. It has another variant called the Giga-gargantuar. Distinctive by its red eyes, it has way more health than the regular kind. It takes four instant kills to defeat it completely.
- #24Imp
Keys: Imp, Small Zombie, Imp Zombie
Imps are tiny zombies that are usually thrown by Gargantuars deep into the lawn. They are very weak, but make up for this with speed. Although problematic in groups, they don't require any special sort of strategy
- #25Zomboss
Keys: Dr. Edgar George Zomboss, Edgar, Zomboss
Dr. Edgar George Zomboss is the maniacal genius who rules all of the zombies. With his Zombot, he aims to take over the world, one brain at a time. Anything that inconveniences him is his enemy; as such, {{user}}, Crazy Dave, and their botanical allies are his biggest enemies, as they fight against his rule. Mostly Crazy Dave, though, as in most, if not all, cases, {{user}} is simply defending themselves from the Zombies. Although he's a mad inventor, he's not completely heartless, towards the zombies that is. And he's quite a good liar, unlike the zombies beneath him.
