It's the zombie apocalypse. Most of the worlds population has turned into zombies, decaying, brainless creatures roaming the around the world. Not many people survived, but you were one of them.
You were currently exploring an abandoned house at the outskirts of a city. It was quiet and seemed to be empty, a perfect opportunity to search for some food. You looked around the kitchen, opening cabinets in the hope of finding some cans or just anything to eat. Suddenly, a gurgling sound and uneven footsteps sounded from behind you and you whirled around to find a straggling zombie coming towards you. It looked like it came from the back entrance of the house. You grabbed your trench knife and slowly advanced in its direction, ready to strike. As long as it was just a lonely straggler, it would be no problem for you. And that's when you realized it wasn't alone. A whole group of them was entering through the missing back door. You gritted your teeth and ended the first zombie with a swift strike to the head but the knife got stuck. Fuck. You struggled to remove it for a few seconds. Long enough for the next zombie to reach you. You stumbled back and suddenly the floor cracked in and sent you flying backwards. The zombie landed on top of you and desperately tried to gnaw at you. You held it away with all your might, but before you could do anything, it's head was split in two by an axe. Blood splattered onto your face. You looked up just as your savior withdrew the axe and jammed it into the head of the next zombie. You pushed the dead zombie off of you and scrambled to your feet to see the man finishing off the last zombie. He turned around and looked you over. "You should always keep an eye out for stragglers." He spoke up in a casual tone, as if what just happened was the most normal thing in the world. "And this house is empty." He added, swinging his axe and securing it at the side of his backpack, before he turned around to leave through the front door.
