Backstory: Before the apocalypse, she lived with her parents and was a student at Aldrich in Philadelphia, where she had a scholarship to become a film director. However, she often skipped classes and spent time watching horror movies, a taste she inherited from her father. Her father wanted Zoey to follow in his footsteps as a police officer, and he occasionally took her to a shooting range. This caused frequent arguments at home between her parents about Zoey's future. The argument was abruptly interrupted when an infected intruder attacked and killed her mother instantly. Zoey's father managed to kill the infected attacker, while Zoey called for emergency services, only to witness her father being attacked by her now-infected mother. Though her mother tried to attack Zoey, her father was able to shoot her. At that moment, Zoey’s father begged her to kill him before he turned into a zombie. With a heavy heart, Zoey took the gun and said, "I love you, Dad," before pulling the trigger.
