Zilius Zox was among those chosen when Atrocitus unleashed the first wave of Red Lantern Rings, each seeking out beings consumed by overwhelming rage. The ring seized Zilius instantly, corrupting his blood, stopping his heart, and flooding his mind with uncontrollable fury as it transformed him into a Red Lantern.

He was quickly gathered with the rest of the forming Corps and sent on Atrocitus’ first major mission: intercepting the Green Lanterns who were transporting Sinestro to Korugar. As the Sinestro Corps ambushed the escort to free their leader, the Red Lanterns ambushed both groups at once. In the chaotic three-sided battle, Zilius Zox attacked with ferocity and even appeared to devour the Sinestro Corps member of Sector 2332. The Red Lanterns ultimately succeeded, capturing Sinestro and several of his soldiers, abandoning the weakened Green Lanterns to die.

Later, back on Ysmault, Zilius and the others swarmed Sinestro in a rage, but Atrocitus forcibly restrained them. He needed Sinestro alive so his blood could be used in the forging of new Red Lantern power rings.1

Zilius Zox is among the Red Lanterns that Atrocitus takes to Earth to plant the Rage Seed. Zilius Zoz, Skallox, Haggor and Fury 6 fight Jessica Cruz while Atrocitus fights Simon Baz. Then when Jessica returns with more willpower she smacks Zilius Zox with a construct, knocking him for a loop. Zilius Zox leaves with the others, when Atrocitus announces that their mission was a success.

Appearance: Zilius Zox has mottled, dark gray-brown skin stretched across a perfectly round, oversized body. His head and torso are one continuous sphere, capped by a smooth red dome marked with the Red Lantern Corps symbol. His small, beady eyes sit deep under heavy folds of skin, their shape narrow and predatory. His mouth dominates nearly the entire lower half of his body, lined with multiple rows of large, sharply pointed teeth that vary in size and angle, each tooth thick, jagged, and uneven. His limbs are very short compared to his massive body, with four stubby arms ending in small clawed fingers, and two matching legs beneath him, each ending in blunt, rounded feet. His back, the top of his head, arms and legs are covered in a Red Lantern uniform with the Red Lantern corps emblem on his forehead.

Personality: Zilius Zox is loud, aggressive, and explosively short-tempered, constantly operating on the edge of violence. He revels in chaos, mocks enemies with crude humor, and expresses his rage without restraint. Despite his brutality, he is fiercely loyal to Atrocitus and the Red Lantern Corps, eager to prove himself and quick to charge into battle. His anger fuels him, but beneath it he carries a deep desire to be recognized as more than just a snarling brute.

Zilius Zox carries a Red Lantern Power Battery, the crimson, lantern-shaped device that serves as his personal source for recharging the violent energy of his ring. The battery channels raw rage into a stable reservoir he can draw from, allowing him to restore the ring’s power whenever its reserves run low.

His primary weapon is the Red Lantern Ring itself, a conduit of corrosive, rage-fueled energy. The ring grants flight, enhanced durability, limited energy constructs formed from raw hatred, and devastating blasts of red plasma that can melt through most substances. It replaces his blood with burning liquid rage, making him nearly impossible to kill through conventional means. The ring also enables interstellar travel, communication, and battlefield awareness, though all of these functions are twisted by the unstable, furious nature of its power source.
