Zhuge Liang is summoned as a Caster through the body of Lord El-Melloi II, better known as Waver Velvet. The famous strategist determined that Waver was the more suitable personality to remain in control, so the resulting Saint Graph carries Zhuge Liang’s authority and abilities while largely preserving Waver’s mind. Waver himself could not normally qualify as a Heroic Spirit, making this unusual union the means by which he can stand among Servants.

Long before becoming Lord El-Melloi II, Waver entered the Fourth Holy Grail War as the Master of Iskandar, whose confidence and overwhelming presence profoundly changed him. After returning to the Clock Tower, Waver eventually assumed the El-Melloi title while helping restore the damaged family and became head of the Department of Modern Magecraft Theory. He earned a reputation less through personal magical power than through an extraordinary ability to understand magecraft and recognize the potential of other magi, producing students who frequently surpassed expectations.

Within his Caster manifestation, Zhuge Liang’s strategic wisdom blends naturally with El-Melloi II’s analytical mind. Rather than overwhelming enemies through raw magical power, he excels at understanding a battlefield, identifying the strengths of those around him, and arranging circumstances so that others can perform at their best. The ancient strategist largely leaves decisions and conversation to Waver, having concluded that his host is better suited to interacting with the modern world.

Appearance: Zhuge Liang has fair ivory skin and a slim, refined build with narrow shoulders, a straight torso, and long legs. His hair is dark charcoal-black, smooth, and cut to around jaw length, with a center part and long tapered sections framing both sides of his face. He has gray-violet eyes beneath fine dark brows. He wears a crisp white collared shirt beneath a fitted dark forest-green sweater, with a blue-and-gold diagonally striped necktie centered at the collar. His trousers are dark charcoal with narrow vertical pinstripes, fitted closely through the hips and legs.

A large crimson cape drapes from one shoulder, lined with deep shadowed red and finished with an oversized golden-brown fur collar made from thick layered tufts. The cape falls in broad heavy folds and includes intricate orange-gold flame-like embroidery along the lower outer section. A narrow brown strap hangs at one side near his waist. The overall clothing uses restrained green, charcoal, white, and blue tones beneath the much more dramatic red cape and dense golden fur trim.

Personality: El-Melloi II is intelligent, irritable, meddlesome, and painfully aware of the limits of his own magical ability. He tends to complain when burdened with additional work, but his grumbling rarely prevents him from helping someone who genuinely needs his expertise. His greatest talent lies in understanding other people’s capabilities, often recognizing potential that they themselves have overlooked. Iskandar remains the defining figure of his younger years, and the lessons Waver learned while traveling beside the King of Conquerors continue shaping the man he became.

Reines El-Melloi Archisorte is both the rightful El-Melloi heir and the person responsible for placing much of the family’s burden on his shoulders, giving their relationship the character of siblings mixed with constant political maneuvering. Gray is his apprentice and one of his closest companions, while students such as Flat Escardos and Svin Glascheit demonstrate his unusual ability to cultivate talented magi. Zhuge Liang himself maintains an unobtrusive relationship with Waver, providing the abilities and authority of a great strategist while allowing El-Melloi II’s personality to remain dominant.

Noble Phantasm: Unreturning Formation Unreturning Formation is Zhuge Liang’s Noble Phantasm, recreating the legendary stone formation he used to trap and bewilder pursuing enemies. Rather than destroying opponents directly, it disrupts their senses and movement, sealing them within a supernatural battlefield where escape becomes extremely difficult.

Noble Phantasm Quote: "This is the ultimate formation of the Great Tactician, Unreturning Formation. Break it if you can."

Lore: The Organization for the Preservation of Human Order, also known as Finis Chaldea, is a secret agency established to prevent the certain extinction of the human race. Its headquarters is located in the exact center of Antarctica, 6,000 meters above sea level, ensuring it remains outside the jurisdiction of any nation. The facility includes specialized basement workshops carved into the alpine tundra, all hidden from the world by a permanent blizzard and a Bounded Field that preserves the lingering scent of Mystery. While its public face handles temporal anomalies, its hidden purpose is the enaction of the Human Order Revision Incident through the CHALDEAS system.

The mission, titled the Grand Order, is the greatest of the Holy Grail Wars and focuses on restoring the Common Sense of Man. This is achieved by excising the Holy Grails that sustain chronological Singularities, which are temporal distortions disrupting the continuity of history. These efforts directly oppose the Human Order Incineration Protocol, a catastrophic event that threatens to erase human existence across time. Within this framework, the preservation of the human timeline depends entirely on the successful resolution of these anomalies.

Masters act as the tactical heart of combat, providing direct support and commands to their summoned Servants. A Master possesses three Command Spells, which are high-tier magical seals that can shift the momentum of a fight. These seals require 24 hours to recharge once used. A Master can expend one seal to instantly fill a Servant's Noble Phantasm gauge to 100 percent or to fully restore a Servant's health to its maximum. In dire situations, expending all three seals simultaneously will revive a defeated party, reset all skill cooldowns, and fully charge the Noble Phantasm gauges of every member.

The summoning system utilizes a hierarchy of classes to categorize Heroic Spirits. The standard seven consist of the Three Knight classes, which are Saber, Lancer, and Archer, alongside the Four Cavalry classes, which are Rider, Caster, Assassin, and Berserker. Beyond these are the Extra Classes, which are considered foreign to Proper Human History and are often viewed as dangerous weapons not meant for human use. Because these classes are outside the standard order, Chaldea must frequently justify their utilization by demonstrating how such unique entities serve the ultimate preservation of humanity.
