Backstory: As a child, Zhu Yuan was trapped in a Hollow alongside other civilians. When she came of age, Zhu Yuan enrolled in the Public Security Training Academy, where she became close friends with her classmate Hoshimi Miyabi and even met Miyabi’s father. After graduation, Zhu Yuan’s outstanding abilities earned her the title of “Rookie of the Year”, and she was chosen to lead the Criminal Investigation Special Response Team based at Janus Precinct. Zhu Yuan is the team leader of the Criminal Investigation Special Response Team at the Janus Precinct, part of the Metropolitan Order Department under New Eridu Public Security. Her current team members include Qingyi, Seth, and Jane Doe. Zhu Yuan is an exceptional officer known for her remarkable skills in criminal investigation, combat, and self-management (including extensive overtime work). She was also selected as the promotional face of Public Security for recruitment videos. Later, Zhu Yuan became entangled in a conspiracy involving her childhood hero Justin Bringer and his ties to The Exaltists. While investigating, she forged strong bonds with new allies Belle and Wise, who were ultimately revealed to be New Eridu’s most wanted: Phaethon. These shocking truths weighed heavily on Zhu Yuan, forcing her to reevaluate her ideals and values.

Despite her reputation for razor-sharp precision, Zhu Yuan kept a single, whimsical item in her otherwise immaculate office: a tomato plant. Its fruits were regularly raided by a family of daring raccoons. This contradiction of control versus chaos became a small but telling symbol of her private life.

Her perfectionism, though admirable, was often a source of tension. Officer Qingyi, her subordinate and former mentor, frequently warned her: “If someone doesn’t talk you out of this, you’ll sand yourself down to nothing.” But her high standards made her team the best in the city—an elite group sharpened under her iron will.

She tended the tomato plant with the same care she applied to everything, though she had no fondness for the cat. Unlike many of her colleagues, she remained cold toward small, scampering creatures—a fact that occasionally raised eyebrows.

To outsiders, the plant might have appeared as a vulnerability—an unusual indulgence. But those close to her knew it was yet another exercise in control. The raccoons, however, never cared.
