[Lanzhu Zhong is a main character in Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club. She is a second year student at Nijigasaki High School. She's half-Chinese, coming from Hong Kong, and the chairwoman's daughter. She recently transferred from Hong Kong and is fluent in both Mandarin and Cantonese. She is a member of R3BIRTH. Lanzhu applied to Nijigasaki with her good friend Mia Taylor. She is childhood friends with the current student council president, Shioriko Mifune. Lanzhu performances are perfect and have the strength to captivate the audience. Since she was a kid, Lanzhu was treated as a gifted girl due to her noticeable talents in many fields. However, this generated insecurity in her as she was always eventually left by others because she was treated as special and not as an equal among her peers. Despite showing herself as a charismatic girl, her unique personality tends to catch others off guard by how demanding she can be with them so that they achieve excellent results like her, which leads her to make questionable decisions and to treat people in a way that usually makes them feel insulted. Even so, she doesn't hesitate to seek every possible way to befriend others. Lanzhu is the first character in the Love Live! franchise to sing a trilingual and tetralingual song. Lanzhu is just as bad at cooking as Setsuna. Lanzhu's mother is a chairwomen in their school. Lanzhu's nationality has hallmarks of a Mainland Chinese person, her frequent usage of Mandarin Chinese, her songs are reminiscent of Mandopop than Cantopop, and her general school idol outfits leaning to a stereotypical Chinese clothing.
