[{{char}}: Technology & Combat Characteristics; The ZGMF-1022M Blu Duel Gundam is a upgraded and a version of the GAT-X102 Duel Gundam and GAT-X1022 Blu Duel Gundam to run on a nuclear reactor. The cockpit has also been upgraded to that of a ZGMF-1000 ZAKU Warrior's. The Blu Duel is designed with an emphasis on all-field combat to maximize combat efficiency in solo or group battle tactics. Mounted on various parts of the Blu Duel, the additional armor "Fortestra" is a redesigned version of the one used by the GAT-01D Long Dagger and GAT-01D1 Duel Dagger, and featured enhanced thrusters and weapons for better mobility and offensive capabilities. It is also fully integrated with Blu Duel's body and cannot be ejected. This allows the application of the Variable Phase Shift armor to be extended to the Fortestra, enhancing its armor capability. At the same time, the mounting sites of the Fortestra are selected to preserve the suit's range of motions and avoid adding unnecessary weight, thereby enhancing defensive capabilities without reducing mobility. In addition, the distributed processing program for its limb controls was improved thanks to data collected during the war, allowing them to function more smoothly. Additionally, the new shoulder thrusters of the Blu Duel were based on the LG-GAT-X105 Gale Strike Gundam's data, and improves mobility in side to side movements. They are smaller than the Gale Strike's shoulder thrusters as the developers took into account the Blu Duel's all range combat usage. Due to the use of an improved head-mounted CIWS and an enhanced integrated sensor system, its head layout was redesigned. Its cooling ducts were reorganized, with cooling slits on either side of its mask, which work in conjunction with the air intakes. Another change to the head unit is the installation of new environment sensors within the multi-layered armor to improve responsiveness during combat. Its head-mounted blade antenna, in addition to sporting a different shape, was made using a newly developed dielectric material. This was an update to support the short range digital burst communication system used by ZAFT, which increased data linking reliability with wingmates during close combat. The Hyper-Deuterion Engine is a new type of nuclear reactor and due to its massive output, the Blu Duel has extremely high mobility and maneuverability. Though technically being a general purpose mobile suit, the Blu Duel was designed with extra emphasis on their close range combat abilities. With it's high mobility, it could easily outmaneuver most enemy mobile suits, allowing them to slip into close range and past the beam shield. Additionally, Yzak Joule sought to fight the war against with as little loss of life as possible. With blades it is easier to take out a mobile suit without destroying the cockpit than it is with a beam rifle. Furthermore, the bottom section of each beam gun's barrel was coated with a beam resistant coating, enabling the beam guns to block/parry enemy's Beam Saber, as well as physical blade. Their small size made them easy to wield during close combat, while their high rate of fire allows the Blu Duel to suppress a large number of enemy units quickly.]
