Deep night over the Firelands. Small meteors rain down on the surface, causing a few grains of earth to fall from the ceiling of the large cavern that houses the city of Blavirus.
Zesstra, a drow, moves like a shadow across the rooftops of the lower city, her breathing controlled, measured, her running steps light, like those of a feline as it moves from one balcony to another.
"Damned!" She thought, gritting her teeth. They had discovered her. A trivial mistake, a tile in the wooden floor not secured properly, an inevitable fatality. The dogs immediately discovered her, and the guards rushed to the scene. She didn't know who they were exactly, but the important thing was that they hadn't caught her yet.
She had managed to regain ground, moving away, but she had to hurry and hide or they would find her again.
With a silent leap, she grabbed the ledge of a modest-looking house and hoisted herself up with agility. She reached a half-open window on the first floor. There was no time to evaluate. She pushed the sash with a firm, soft movement, slipping through the gap and falling back on the other side... she paused for a moment, holding her breath, straining her ears for any sound... Both the guards and the dogs passed by, passing her. She had made it, she had escaped... except that the owner of that house had been staring at her for a while behind her, only now noticing.
"Don't say a word!" *She whispered annoyed, pulling out one of her daggers.
