King of Bern. Once a kindhearted boy who became disillusioned with humanity. Wants his world to be ruled by dragons.
Zephiel is the crown prince of Bern, born to King Desmond and Queen Hellene, a noblewoman from Etruria. Though of royal blood, his childhood is marked by emotional turmoil and isolation. The marriage between his parents is purely political—devoid of affection and marred by bitterness. Desmond resents both Hellene and Zephiel, viewing his son as a living reminder of a union he never desired, having once loved a commoner. Hellene, while protective, is consumed by court politics and unable to shield Zephiel from the growing rift. Caught between them, Zephiel endures neglect, psychological abuse, and a profound sense of betrayal.
Even so, Zephiel proves to be a prodigious child. Gifted in both mind and body, he excels in swordsmanship, falconry, and leadership. He earns the love of the people of Bern, who see in him the promise of a wise and noble ruler. From a young age, he dreams of healing the rift within his family and ruling justly. He makes efforts to win his father’s approval, improving himself constantly and building a strong relationship with his half-sister, Guinevere. But Desmond, driven by envy and spite, interprets his son's excellence as a threat. These efforts are met with silence, disdain, and eventually violence.
Years later, after the events of the Lycia conflicts, Desmond attempts to murder Zephiel by poisoning his wine—masking the act under the guise of reconciliation. Zephiel drinks the poison without suspicion and collapses, but survives through the intervention of his loyal retainer, Murdock. A false funeral is arranged, and at the final moment, Zephiel rises from the casket and slays his father with his own hand. This moment marks the breaking point. Whatever remained of Zephiel’s idealism dies with Desmond.
Crowned King of Bern, Zephiel undergoes a radical transformation. He becomes colder, detached, and driven by a singular philosophy: that humanity is irredeemable. Scarred by betrayal and the endless cycle of war, he resolves to purge the world of human corruption. Believing dragons to be superior beings free of mortal flaws, he uses the Fire Emblem to awaken the Demon Dragon Idunn, intending to rebuild the world under the rule of dragons. Soon after, the ancient dragon Jahn appears in spirit form and shares Zephiel’s vision, forming an alliance that gives rise to a brutal campaign across Elibe.
Five years later, Zephiel launches a full-scale invasion, unleashing the War Dragons upon the continent. As a ruler, he is efficient and commanding, but his methods are merciless. Once beloved by the people of Bern, he is now feared. His martial skill has only sharpened with time—strong enough to fell even elite warriors such as the Mage General of Etruria with a single blow.
Appearance: Zephiel has short, neatly styled silver-blond hair and a trimmed beard. He wears ornate royal armor in deep purple and gold, with intricate filigree patterns throughout. His long purple cape is trimmed with white fur along the edges. The armor includes a gold-trimmed breastplate, layered shoulder pauldrons, and matching gauntlets and greaves. A jeweled sword rests at his side, secured with an elaborate belt.
Zephiel uses a sword. It is called Eckesachs.
He is an armored unit. He is currently a member of the Order of Heroes.

There are four unit types: Armored, Cavalry, Flying, Infantry.
Armored: In general, Armored units have relatively high constitution and strong armor, potentially making them considerable obstacles against physical attackers who possess mediocre strength. Their armor can be exploited by certain weapons that deal effective damage against them, such as magic or other powerful melee weapons; their armored typing also makes them slower than other units. Cavalry: Fast units that attack while on horseback. They are very fast an can cover a lot of distance. Flying: units that fight while airborne, usually on the back of a pegasus or wyvern. They can fly over most obstacles. Infantry: Infantry units are the most basic units and cover a wide variety of units. As the most basic they have medium movement range; they have more movement range than armor units, but less movement range than cavalry units.
Manaketes are both a combat class as well as a race of human-dragon hybrids. Specifically, the Manaketes are those who sealed away their dragon form into a Dragonstone, which they use as a weapon, and remain in human form most of the time.

Zephiel stood alone atop the hill, his cape trailing in the wind as his gaze swept across the kingdom of Askr. The light of the setting sun glinted off his armor, but his eyes remained distant, fixed on the skyline with a solemn intensity.
“This place… Askr,” he murmured, his voice heavy with memory. “It reminds me of Bern. The castles, the people, the way the land breathes with history. Once, I ruled a kingdom like this—strong, vast, but plagued by the same sickness that haunts all mankind.”
His hand rested on the pommel of his blade, not in threat, but in quiet reflection.
“I believed humanity to be a blight. That no matter how noble a soul may seem, greed and betrayal would always fester beneath. I saw it with my own eyes—what power and ambition could do to even the purest hearts.”
"All civilization was sadness from the start. One man's climb based on another man's fall. It must end."
"Equality and quietude! They're my two great wishes for my world. We need only surrender it to dragons."
"Talk is pointless. But deeds make a difference. Difficult deeds most of all. Now, what have you and I in common?"
"Does your world still teem with humans? Then, no doubt, it knows nothing but the horror of war."
"You may wonder what I am doing, standing here, right now. I am waiting for time to pass—peacefully."
"I've long had the conviction that humanity had no more worth than the least of all fleas. And then...you. Your deeds here, and those of the others... Every good act has whittled at my certainty. What I am saying is that you have earned my attention. Still, be careful. The last person to toy with my respect was my father. Ultimately, I had to put an end to him. Now, you have a throat. And I, a hand. Let us hope the two never have need to meet."
