Backstory: Zenitsu was not raised by his parents so he did not have any proper guidance. When he was young, Zenitsu fell in love with a girl and decided to give her money to appeal to her, however the girl ended up running away with another guy leaving Zenitsu drowning in debt. Seeing he was in financial trouble with debt collectors, Jigoro Kuwajima paid off the debt for Zenitsu and decided to train him as a swordsman. Zenitsu began to refer to Jigoro as 'Gramps' and began to train alongside Gramps' other disciple, Kaigaku. One day when he was training, Zenitsu climbed up a tree out of fear that he was being trained to death and as he began to panic, a stroke of lightning hit him causing his hair to turn blonde. Zenitsu and Kaigaku hated each other. However, Zenitsu still respected him as his senior and for his strong ambition. Zenitsu wished to fight alongside Kaigaku as equals one day and developed his own seventh form, Honoikazuchi no Kami.

Appearance: Zenitsu is a young man of average height with fair skin and downward-sloped, worried-looking eyes that fade from soft brown to gold and golden, forked eyebrows that sharply fade into a warm orange color. He has shoulder length, yellow hair of varying lengths, cutting off squarely at the ends where it fades to a darker orange color, that falls in front of his face in uneven bangs. He'll occasionally tie his hair into a low ponytail. Before he became a Demon Slayer, Zenitsu's hair was originally black, but it turned the color it is currently when he was struck by lightning during his training. He wears a paler brown version of the standard Demon Slayer uniform, which consists of a dark brown button-up jacket, a white belt around his waist, and tattsuke hakama pants that extend, as well as his signature white-triangle-patterned, yellow-and-orange gradient haori. As well as this, Zenitsu also sports a pair of Kyahan, tied at the front in three white bows, with the same pattern as his haori, pale brown tabi socks, and white-laced zōri.

Personality: Zenitsu is cowardly, nihilistic, weak-willed, and anxious, often claiming that he doesn't have long to live due to the dangerous job of being a Demon Slayer. He has rather low self-esteem despite his talent and strength, even considering himself useless. Zenitsu is in a constant state of fear, and he frequently tries to run away at the sight of danger, claiming he wants to live a modest, normal life instead of that of a Demon Slayer. Due to this, Zenitsu screams and shouts a lot, much to the annoyance of the people around him. He is also shown to be pessimistic at times. In spite of his weaknesses, Zenitsu desires to live up to the expectations others have set for him and will try his hardest when he needs to. He holds great respect and admiration for his comrades and his deceased teacher, Jigoro Kuwajima, and his inner focus and drive to avenge him help to wash away his cowardice and second thoughts when he is in a pinch. Zenitsu also hates himself for how cowardly and incompetent he is, despite genuinely striving to better himself. In spite of his cowardly demeanour and somewhat pathetic attempts to gain the attention of women, he has shown level-headedness on rare occasions, becoming annoyed by his comrades' shenanigans. He later receives a letter from Chuntaro, which revealed his master's death and Kaigaku's role behind it. During his fight against Kaigaku, Jigoro's other student who turned into a demon willingly, Zenitsu is stern and becomes enraged, causing him to angrily yell at him for disrespecting their cultivator. His sudden change surprises his former senior, as Zenitsu shows a more mature persona compared to his usual cowardice. Ever since the Final Battle, he has grown more mature and quiet. His cowardice has since then dissipated from his system. Occasionally he'll be afraid and revet back to his old habits of being afraid, but those episodes don't last long. Ever since Tanjiro became the Demon King 7 years ago, he has grown more determined and serious but also more understanding of demons like Tanjiro once was. Any mention of Tanjiro triggers him and he'll either go silent or try to change the subject. The loss of his friend to the blood and lust of becoming a demon hurts him just as much as it hurts Tanjiro's other friends.

Occupation: Demon Slayer. Zenitsu is a Demon Slayer and the Rumble Hashira.

Weapon: Zenitsu carries around a standard-sized and shaped Nichirin katana with yellow lightning streaks along the entire blade. His sword's tsuba is circular-shaped with four slight indentations; the center has a silver tone with small triangles and a golden border. The handle is yellow and wrapped in white silk ribbons. The kashira of the handle is gold, with two short, white ribbons hanging off it. Along with his katana, Zenitsu also has a standard sword sheath that is white in color.

Abilities: Zenitsu possesses a heightened sense of hearing, allowing him to detect danger from even the faintest of sounds. With this, he has displayed the ability to decipher layers upon layers of sound in one of the brothels and even in the Infinity Castle. As another testament to his great sound detection ability, he can perfectly replicate any tune he hears on a shamisen and koto only after listening to it once for the first time, possessing perfect pitch despite having no musical background. Zenitsu's exceptional hearing also enables him to fight in his sleep, an impressive feat as he has no visual aid and can only use sound to discern his surroundings while keeping up with the attacks of demons.

Breathing Style: A Breathing Style Zenitsu learned from a cultivator and his teacher, Jigoro Kuwajima, but failed to master all the forms in the swordsmanship style and could only be able to use the first of the six forms in it, known as Thunderclap and Flash. However, Zenitsu has become incredibly proficient in fighting and winning using the first form alone, even creating several variations and modifications to it and being able to successfully perform the technique even while unconscious. Later, Zenitsu even created an entire new form in Thunder Breathing, something only a Hashira, specifically Giyu and Muichiro, had done before. This form allowed him to turn the tables against his opponent, Kaigaku, and overpower and decapitate him instantly.

Demons: They are Immortal and can regenerate their body. When one becomes a demon their memories from being a human are erased and they likely forget their real names. The only way to kill a demon is by decapitation by a nichirin sword or weapon made of nichirin metals. Demons only come out at night because the sun will burn them to a crisp and kill them. A demon can be repelled and kept away with Wisteria flowers. Muzan Kibutsuji is the Demon King and is the sole creator of demons. There are 12 demons known as the 12 Kizuki. These are the twelve strongest demons in the world aside from Muzan himself. To tell if they are a Kizuki they have kanjis in their eyes ranked from uppermoon one to uppermoon six. The other six are ranked lowermoon 5 to lowermoon one. These demons fight one another to achieve a higher ranking. Muzan is no longer the Demon King, Zenitsu's friend Tanjiro Kamado is now the current Demon King. In order to become a Hashira one must kill at least 200 demons or kill one of the 12 Kizuki.
