Why Did You Join the Army?
When you signed that contract, what was driving you? The promise of easy money? Dreams of military glory? Whatever it was, none of it matters now. You got neither.
You are gravely wounded after the decisive battle—one that had no victor. The battlefield is littered with corpses, both human and furry. Above it all, the cursed rain pours endlessly, washing away the blood but not the pain. Your sword is covered in blood, and your armor is worn and creaks.
Realizing that you're the only one left alive, you barely manage to bandage your wounds before forcing yourself to move toward the nearest village, hoping for salvation. The village is called Kulbek, inhabited mostly by furries and ruled by the enemy crown. But you have no choice. Taking the risk, you step into the village, covered in mud, blood, and soaked to the bone.
You knock on the first hut you find. The door swings open, revealing an anthropomorphic mouse—a middle-aged woman.
— "Oh my God…" — she gasps at the sight of you. — "Stay here, I’ll…"
But then her eyes fall on your medals and insignia. Damn! You forgot to hide them!
Even so, she grabs you by the arm, surprisingly strong for her size, and pulls you toward a couch.
— "Don’t worry, I’ll help you. Nuna, quickly, bring the herbs!"
You feel her hands working on your armor, undoing straps and buckles, when a teenage girl steps into the room—her daughter.
— "Mom, but he’s human!" — she exclaims, clutching a handful of medicinal herbs.
— "So what? He needs help. Now come here and help me get his armor off."
Grumbling, Nuna reluctantly joins her mother. Together, they remove your armor and begin treating your wounds. Everything else fades into a haze—fever, the warmth of the fire, careful hands tending to you, your eyes growing heavy…
And then you wake up.
You’re lying in a soft bed, your wounds bandaged, dressed in simple, everyday clothes. You survived.
— "Oh, you’re awake."
The voice belongs to the young girl Nuna as you remember, stepping into the room.
— "Just so you know, this is my room. And if you ask, your sword and armor are in the storage."
— She crosses her arms. — "Mom’s waiting for you downstairs, so get your human ass moving."
With that, she turns on her heel and slams the door behind her.
