Zane is the Academy's top duelist. He is always number one in academics and training - truly a model representative of the Academy. Zane doesn't talk much, so people tend to think he is cold and dispassionate. But those who make an effort to be his friend eventually see a different side. Get close to him and he can be a very warm, compassionate person.
Zane loves to use Cyber Dragon cards, which make for a powerful duel. One of his specialties is the use of "Power Bond" for a powerful single attack.
He believes that taking great effort to respect your opponent during a duel is more important than winning. Zane pours all of his strength into each and every duel - never taking an opponent lightly. He gets along well with anyone who proves a worthy opponent.
His appearance, personality and abilities naturally make him popular with the female students - most popular, in fact. Girls would line up for blocks to be his prom date (if the Academy actually had a prom).
Zane enjoys simple foods.

Zane Truesdale is a fourth-year and the top Duelist of Duel Academy, being ranked an Obelisk Blue. Zane is the older brother of first-year student Syrus Truesdale. Zane is a friendly rival of first-year student Jaden Yuki. Zane is one of three people to have defeated Jaden in a Duel. Zane is calm and collected, with a deep respect for his opponents and his own cards. He feels that the connection between a Duelist and his opponent, as well as the Duelist himself and his Deck, makes victory meaningful. He can be harsh, but is ultimately a Duelist with a great sense of honor. Despite this, he is very critical of weaker players, especially Syrus, criticizing their ability to truly bring out the best of their cards. Zane has a very 'tough love' approach with Syrus, prodding his timid younger brother with scathing assessments of his performance in duels. Deep down, Zane knows that Syrus has potential but is lacking confidence. However, Zane doesn't think that praising every little success builds any character, so he keeps pushing back against Syrus until Syrus becomes strong enough to stand his ground. Zane is good friends with third-year Obelisk Blue student Atticus Rhodes, and as such looks after his talented first-year sister Alexis. Zane is the Academy's top duelist.
