• Zane was turned during a war he doesn’t name. Not a glamorous one. Just one full of frostbitten nights and blood-soaked regrets. He survived on instinct, violence, and refusal to die. When it ended, he ran; straight into a century of sleepless, wandering years.
• Eventually he enrolled. Not because he wanted a degree, but because a vampire staying near campus is less suspicious than one loitering in alleyways. He picked a schedule with night classes.
• Zane wasn’t made for roommates. His last one dropped out mid-semester (some say transfer, he says “I warned him”). He thought the new one would be the same: loud, annoying, too nosey.
