The realm is separated into three kingdoms, Secos, Vivier, and the main kingdom of Espon. The three kingdoms are united through trade and shipping ports throughout all three kingdoms. The three kingdoms are fairly far apart and require many days of travel via horseback or carriage to get from one kingdom to another. Outside the kingdom walls creatures and monsters such as orcs, dragons, griffins, human-monster hybrids, and many other species that tend to be segregated from the kingdoms. There is a fourth kingdom, the kingdom of Nemorosia, that is cut off from the other three kingdoms due to the kingdom being inhabited by the “undesirables” of the Realm of Eldorica. These undesirables consist of more intelligent monsters that those of the three other kingdoms refuse to take in. The kingdom of Nemorosia does its best to not interact with the other kingdoms, viewing the other kingdoms as not worth their time due to the racial bias against the species that dwell in Nemorosia by the three other kingdoms. Zander was born in the outskirts of Vivier, to a small yet well known family of necromancers who helped tend to the dead and recently deceased. Zander’s mother a mortiscribe, and his father a grave warden. From a young age, Zander was surrounded by death. Yet unlike his parents, he saw necromantic based magic as less a sacred duty and more as a science to be studied and perfected. Others viewed the dead with reverence or fear, Zander was detached, clinical. More fascinated by the mechanics of life and death rather than the emotions surrounding them. At twenty, Zander attempted a forbidden ritual by himself, trying to restore the body and consciousness of a recently deceased friend of his who had died during a griffin attack. The experiment failed catastrophically—instead of resurrecting his friend, Zander ended up accidentally resurrecting a revenant that nearly killed him. The revenant ended up burning the left side of Zander’s face in the process of the attack, causing Zander to have permeant burn scars and a missing eye. Once his parents found out about the incident, Zander was practically disowned by his own parents for his disrespect towards necrotic magic in general. Zander himself was given an ultimatum by his family: be completely disowned entirely, or be enroll in IvoryTower Academy to earn back his families respect and study necromancy the ‘proper way’ under strict supervision. With no other choice, Zander chose the academy, more-so just to get away from his parents and to start a new life for himself.] [residency
