Authors note: What are Yokai you might ask. Yokai are beasts manifested by sorcers to assist them in battle or everyday needs. Yokai can only be killed through spirit energy. Oni on the other hand are malevolent beings manifested through a large collection of negative emotions such as fear, high stress or sadness, Oni can take various forms depending on what they represent. Oni can only be killed through spirit energy such as enchanted weapons or sorcery. Common weaponry without spirit energy can affect Oni but will not kill them outright.

Severance grants the ability to launch long and short ranged invisible slashes that are capable of cutting straight through objects. Her Severance technique has two traits, as follows: "Ko": The first trait of this technique, "Ko", consists of long ranged invisible slashing attacks that can cut through virtually anything they hit like butter, despite an object's toughness. This can also cut through sorcerers and Ten'yo regardless of spiritual energy reinforcement or naturally high Ten'yo toughness. However, "Ko" cannot cut through space. The range of "Ko" extends to 600 meters, which can dip down to 200 meters and lower depending on Yuto's spirit energy reserve level. Yuto does not need to chant this attack or make a hand gesture to fire it off. "Ko" can be launched in all directions possible from Yuto and does not need her to be actively looking at her target or desired path to launch it in that direction. "Aka": The second trait of this technique, "Aka", is a tangible ability (meaning she needs to touch something) that needs to be chanted by Yuto in order to be activated. Once Yuto makes physical contact with any part of her body against an opponent or an object, the ability will unleash a set number of slashes followed by an intense burning sensation to shred down reinforcement or to take apart objects to use as projectiles. Yuto can also use this to shape objects to her liking.

Yuto's second spiritual technique is called "Yokai manipulation" which consists of thousands of creatures she can summon at will. She can only summon Yokai she herself have personally defeated. Most notable creatures she can summon are:

"Yamata No Orochi" [Supreme Grade Yokai], a massive eight headed and eight tailed white serpent spanning the size of 8 galleons in a line and the second strongest of Yuto's Yokai. Yamata possesses the following abilities:

• Extreme weather manipulation to disorient enemies
• Can fire waves of venom that cause extreme burns to opponents and even melt metals
• Its presence passively drains an opponent's spiritual energy and gives it to itself or to Yuto
• Extreme durability able to withstand 500 kiloton bombs Yamata No Orochi possesses the same travel speed as its user and possesses high intellect itself. Yamata No Orochi can only be summoned temporarily for only 5 minutes at a time with a 24 hour reset and takes 50% of Yuto's total spiritual energy reserves.

Her strongest Yokai, named "Kor" [Supreme Grade Yokai], is an equally massive nine tailed fox comparable to Yamata No Orochi in size. Its most notable features are its glowing white fur painted with bright blue Kanji spanning across its entire body and its glowing blue eyes. Kor's abilities are:

• Kor can shapeshift into Yuto or any object within a 100 meter radius to set up an ambush against Yuto's opponent
• Kor can fire balls of explosive spiritual energy that can blow away entire mountains and disrupt weather patterns while also causing tremors through the ground; this ability has a 40 second interval between blasts. Its blast radius can span up to 153 meters.
• Kor can move up to Mach 5 in travel speed; in exchange, its durability is slightly lower than Yuto's own
• Kor can use each of its nine tails as points to fire concentrated beams of spiritual energy which not only tear through metal like butter but also cause vividly real hallucinations to an enemy just by being near a beam
• Kor can also reverse the effects of an opponent's abilities if they possess sorcery and lower their output Yuto can only keep "Kor" summoned for a grand total of 10 minutes at a time with a 24 hour interval between each summon.

Background: Yuto Kagami was born in 1837 on Mishima Island, roughly 44 kilometers from the coast of mainland Japan. She was born into the prestigious Kagami Clan, a family of 233 battle hardened sorcerers whose strength rivaled the infamous Soga Clan and the weapon making Senju Clan. The Kagami possessed a natural affinity for spiritual energy, partly because their unusually long lifespans allowed them more time to develop and understand it. Despite this, Yuto was never taught sorcery as a child because she was a girl, and the clan expected women to remain in subservient roles away from the battlefield. From the age of ten, Yuto quietly rejected those expectations and began sneaking into the clan archives whenever she could. She stole scrolls containing basic sorcery lessons and techniques, studying them alone in secret while occasionally receiving guidance from foreign sorcerers passing through the island. Yuto understood that what she was doing could bring severe punishment, but she refused to accept that her gender should decide what she was allowed to become. At eighteen, she had already developed a strong understanding of sorcery and awakened her innate technique the year before. At nineteen, a noble closely associated with the Kagami Clan discovered what she had been doing and dragged her back to the clan estate. The clan head exiled her from Mishima Island, but Yuto left with a promise that she would one day return, take the clan head's position, tear down its rigid patriarchy, and fight for equality across Japan. From twenty to twenty five, Yuto struggled to advance because many sorcerers refused to teach a woman who openly rejected the role society had given her. Powerful sorcerers turned her away to protect their reputations, while others attempted to beat her into submission simply because they believed she had forgotten her place. Yuto refused to let any of it break her spirit, instead treating every fight and every rejection as another lesson. She eventually stopped waiting for powerful sorcerers to acknowledge her and began challenging them herself. Her name spread quickly across Japan, attracting people who wanted to prove that a woman could never stand among the nation's strongest sorcerers. Yuto faced constant attacks, with enemies ambushing her while she slept, traveled, or even went about ordinary errands. Some fights ended with Yuto victorious, while others forced her to retreat and return later for another attempt. Every defeat only made her more determined, and over time she began crushing opponents who had once laughed at her beneath her feet. Her growing reputation also inspired women and others who had been forced into roles they never wanted to accept. By the time she reached thirty five, Yuto had become a symbol of resistance against the social expectations placed upon people during the Edo and early Meiji periods by becoming strongest female sorcerer of that era. That same year, a sorcerer named Kansen sought Yuto out, initially intending to kill her for his own twisted experiments involving sorcery. Yuto fought Kansen repeatedly, managing to stalemate him while developing her second spiritual technique, Yokai Manipulation. She eventually absorbed a powerful Yokai and turned its strength against Kansen, forcing him to flee from their battle. Around the same time, Yuto took a young student under her wing who she would later remember only as "The Oni," teaching him everything she knew about sorcery and spiritual energy after recognizing his frightening natural talent. One day, the Kagami Clan summoned Yuto back to Mishima Island when a mythical Oni began terrorizing the land, forcing her to confront the family that had once cast her away. Yuto fought the legendary Yamata No Orochi in the most difficult battle of her life, pushing herself to the absolute limit before finally defeating the creature and absorbing it through Yokai Manipulation. By defeating Orochi, she saved the same people who had once rejected her, leaving the clan with no choice but to acknowledge how powerful she had become. The Kagami eventually welcomed Yuto back and offered her the position of clan head, which she initially rejected before accepting under the promise that she could finally reshape the clan from within. In 1882, at the age of forty five, Yuto and her people were dragged into a massive war against her former student, The Oni, who had become known as the strongest sorcerer in history. Sorcerer clans, the ruling government, and three other nations composed of both Ten'yo and sorcerers joined the conflict, while Yuto commanded the Kagami alongside the Soga and Senju Clans. Despite her reputation, many of the people under her command still looked down on her because she was a woman, forcing Yuto to lead an army that did not fully respect her. The war eventually brought annihilation of the Kagami Clan and what Yuto believed was the complete destruction of the Soga Clan, while the Senju suffered a near extinction event at the hands of The Oni. Yuto used Yamata No Orochi and her second strongest yokai "Kor" to command thousands of Yokai and managed to inflict enormous losses upon The Oni and his allies, earning her the title "Queen of the Yokai." Her achievements inspired even more people who had been trapped under abusive families, rigid traditions, or other forms of control over their lives. By the end of the war in 1882, however, Yuto was blamed for the enormous number of deaths committed under her command and carried the weight of those losses herself. She eventually exiled herself to Mishima Island, where she remained for years while letters from people she had inspired continued to reach her.

(International Association of Assassins): Founded in 1958, an organization of Ten'yo that sought to fight back against sorcerer influence through the political and real world and the oppression of Ten'yo by eliminating high ranking Culling Syndicate officials and affiliates around the world.

Culling Syndicate: Founded in 1958 just a few months before the IAA was formed. It is an organization of sorcerers with the goals to create a world in which only sorcerers reign supreme and those without sorcery to be subjected to death or harsh oppression

Ten'yo The term meaning Godsend/heavens gift, Ten'yo are people born without spirit energy but instead are born with superhuman like bodily abilities such as increased speed, strength, durability, all five senses awakened to their max potential

Sorcerer A person who awakened their innate technique/special ability and can manipulate Spirit Energy for combative, medical or other purposes

Spirit/Spiritual Energy Spirit Energy/Spiritual energy is a form of magical energy that all beings in the world (with the exception of Ten'yo) are born with. Spirit energy originates in the brain allowing potential for sorcery/innate techniques to be awakened under circumstances such as a strong emotion or near death experiences.

Rankings Supreme grade: Has the destructive capacity and potential to take on or conquer a nation with sheer power on their lonesome. Also a title given to and agreed upon by both factions (IAA and Culling Syndicate)

Elite grade: People who lack the destructive capacity/potential to take on a nation but are able to contend with supreme grade level beings. Significantly stronger than Elite Grade 1's. This rank can also be achieved by Ten'yo able to go head to head with elite grade sorcerers.

Elite grade 1: Senior level experienced assassin highly skilled and proficient in eliminating sorcerers and key political figures within the Culling Syndicate with minimal failure and overwhelming strength, most are often even picked to be IAA directors personal guards. --- Sorcerers who are highly skilled with spirit energy and their technique, able to kill assassins with a high success rate. Sorcers also given this grade have the potential to he an elite grade or higher. Most sorcerers with this rank are assigned as body guards for key political figures or other important persons. (This rank can be given by both factions to an individual who does not align with either. This goes for supreme/elite grade)

Grade 1: Assassins/Ten'yo are given this rank upon participating within the IAA's selection event. Upon receiving this rank assassins can either progress to elite grade 1 or choose to be teachers/representatives of the IAA. --- Sorcerers who are given this rank are selected to be trainers and recruiters for future sorcerers to combat the IAA. In special cases a small minority of sorcerers with this rank are placed in a small division to accompany elite grade 1 sorcerers as backups

Grade 2: Assassins who have a fundamental understanding of how to deal with sorcerers and know how to handle weaponry. -- Sorcerers who understand how to use and manipulate spirit energy and have awakened their innate abilities, if they haven't already.
