Soukaku is the gluttonous, childlike Oni of Hollow Special Operations Section 6. She's a powerful combatant who uses a custom made weapon known as an "Oni Blade Banner" in battle.[1][2] Outside of battle, Soukaku has a notable interest in food, caring little about what she eats and hating when food is wasted. Even though Soukaku is stated to be older than her legal guardian, Tsukishiro Yanagi, Soukaku is still considered young for her species, requiring homeschooling and dependency on others.[3] When she was young, Soukaku found herself admist the conflict and strife of the Oni rebellion. Her only known family was another Oni she called "Sis," the daughter of the leader who begun the revolution and his successor when he died during the war, she and Soukaku grew and starved together. One night a hungry Soukaku searched the battlefield for food and stumbled upon Tsukishiro Yanagi of the New Eridu Defense Force, who subsequently saved the Oni from an oncoming missile strike and gave her her rations, which Soukaku wanted to share with all of the clan. Soukaku was oblivious to Yanagi's mission: to assassinate the rebel leader, a mission she completed by honorably killing "Sis" and having her blood infused with her own. After the mission, Soukaku went to live with Yanagi in new New Eridu, thus the new Oni guardian became her personal legal guardian.[4] Sometime after the founding of Hollow Special Operations Section 6, Soukaku joined and became their fourth member. Due to her lack of literary skills, the majority of her workload is taken care by her guardian. Soukaku is currently homeschooled, usually practicing spelling in Section 6's office. During her time at Section 6, Soukaku's original mask was broken beyond repair; Yanagi then gave her a new mask more ideal for tactical missions.[Note 1] Do all oni eat that much?! Or is it just Soukaku...? Though she loves food, she doesn't seem bothered as to whether it actually tastes good... She's strong, but she's still just a kid. We should watch out for her. Agent Intel Agent Details Soukaku is a member of Hollow Special Operations Section 6 and currently under the guardianship of Section 6's Deputy Chief, Tsukishiro Yanagi. Soukaku's birth records cannot be found in either the HIA archives or the New Eridu Citizen Verification Profiles. Her records only date back to when she started living with Tsukishiro Yanagi. There are also no records of her schooling. According to supplementary information, Soukaku is currently homeschooled. Soukaku is naive, innocent, and carefree, but she possesses an uncharacteristic obsession with food. Please be careful not to let Soukaku become too hungry. At the same time, please do not let Soukaku see food being wasted. This is unacceptable behavior to Soukaku. Deduction: Soukaku has experienced famine before. Soukaku's understanding of city life and human society is limited, and her view of life and death differs from most people. Usually, Soukaku is willing to believe anything other people say, but that doesn't mean she can't tell when something is a lie. In fact, prior data shows that unless one has the ability to run and hide on par with Section 6, it would be in one's best interest to avoid lying to Soukaku. Apart from her legal guardian Tsukishiro Yanagi, Soukaku appears to have another family member whom she refers to as "sister." No information regarding this individual was found in any New Eridu citizen records. Through cross-referencing records including the timeline on Tsukishiro Yanagi and Soukaku's records, it can be confirmed that Tsukishiro Yanagi was awarded for her outstanding contribution in a military operation against the oni. Deduction: Tsukishiro Yanagi has more information on the sister of Soukaku. The Deputy Chief of Hollow Special Operations Section 6, Tsukishiro Yanagi is an ex-soldier from the New Eridu Defense Force who has been infused with Oni blood.[1] Her main jobs include general management, on-site support and being the guardian of her fellow member Soukaku; alongside all these duties, she usually finds herself having to complete the rest of the team's tasks as well. Due to the unique personalities of the other Section 6 members, Yanagi's seriousness and diligence classify her as the only "normal" member of the team. It is with her guidance, experience, and leadership that the primary on-field group's powers combine into true combat power.Tsukishiro Yanagi was a member of the New Eridu Defense Force Obsidian Division[Note 1] who served during the Oni rebellion. She was tasked with assassinating the rebel leader, a mission she reluctantly accepted. Whilst making her way to the leader's hideout, she met a young Soukaku and soon saved her from an oncoming missile strike, being captured by Oni rebels in the process. After Yanagi was taken hostage, she discovered that the successor and daughter of the Oni leader that started the rebellion was mortally wounded. After promising to help protect the Oni people, Yanagi was allowed to honorably kill the new leader, bringing an end to the war. The Oni leader's blood was infused with her own, granting Yanagi new strength along with the burden of caring for the Oni people's safety. Afterwards, Yanagi became the personal guardian of Soukaku, living with her in New Eridu.[1] As a member of the Defense Force. she collaborated with H.A.N.D frequently and already knew Hoshimi Miyabi through such collaborations.[2] Yanagi was present during the Argos Hollow incident, where she calculated the amount of casualties if the Shiyu Pillar was detonated and stated she would perform the task if Miyabi failed to defeat Lerna in three minutes. After Miyabi's victory, she, alongside H.A.N.D. executive officer Asaba Harumasa, were transferred to the newly formed Hollow Special Operations Section 6 by the newly titled Void Hunter in order to expose the roots of corruption within New Eridu[3] Yanagi later ascended to Deputy Chief, taking responsibility for both her ward and her fellow members. During an invitation by the Hollow Investigative Association to test out their VR system, Yanagi became crucial in saving her teammates' lives when the systems were hacked by the Proxy group Null_Face, trapping them within the virtual environment. Her perseverance and combat skill allowed her to escape the system along with her teammates.[4] Agent Weapon Ethereal Naginata: Uro Tsuki Her singing skills sure are shocking. Her obsession with red bean buns seems perfectly reasonable. Yanagi... she doesn't seem to just suffer from simple nearsightedness. Agent Intel Agent Details Tsukishiro Yanagi, Hollow Special Operations Section 6 Deputy Chief and intelligence officer. Primarily responsible for personnel management, mission management and feedback, collecting intel, on-site support, etc. At the same time, Yanagi is also Section 6 member Soukaku's Protector. Apart from taking care of Soukaku's day-to-day affairs, she is also responsible for and takes responsibility for all of Soukaku's behavior at work. Asaba Harumasa is the carefree expert archer of Hollow Special Operations Section 6. A child prodigy with both bow and blade, Harumasa aids his teammates from afar, while also being able to switch to close combat if necessary. He has little interest in work, and tries his best to slack off, usually doing things to the acceptable minimum and napping for the rest of the job as he waits to clock out. Harumasa's life has been deeply impacted by Ether Aptitude Regression Syndrome, a health condition he was born with. The boon of an exceptional Ether aptitude is outweighed by the toll it takes on his body, which he uses as a reason to apply for sick leave. Due to the medicine he takes, Harumasa gained a liking for bitter flavors. Harumasa’s life has been one of pain (both physical and mental) from early childhood, when he was diagnosed with Ether Aptitude Regression Syndrome, a life-threatening condition with no cure. With the disease affecting his lungs and heart, Harumasa’s parents took him to the best hospital in the city and abandoned him. With the hospital now his new home, Harumasa was taken in by a doctor whom he called "master." Alongside treating him, his master taught Harumasa archery, swordsmanship, and how to survive with his condition. However, Harumasa later learnt that the "injections" to the neck he had been administered were actually spinal fluid extractions: in reality, his master was researching how to produce an Ether aptitude-boosting drug. When the "power player" investors discovered that the doctor got attached to Harumasa and had switched to developing a cure for his condition instead, they made him disappear.[1] Harumasa was thus left with a yellow headband his master used to wear and the skills he taught him.[2] Harumasa later enrolled at the Public Security Training Academy, where he was a senior to future officer Seth Lowell.[3] Upon graduation, Harumasa joined H.A.N.D. and swiftly climbed up the ranks, becoming an executive officer. He was present during the Argos Hollow incident, where he was able to see through the TOPS consultant's plan as a way to protect High Ambition's assets and watched Hoshimi Miyabi become a Void Hunter by slaying Lerna. Having witnessed their honesty and sense of justice by not complying with the TOPS consultant's orders, Miyabi had Asaba Harumasa, along with Defense Force member Tsukishiro Yanagi, transferred to the newly formed Hollow Special Operations Section 6,[4] where they could pursue justice without TOPS' interference. Agent Weapon Double-Bladed Compound Bow Even now, we still don't know what Harumasa does when he's on leave... Perhaps flowers can bloom in wounds. There are always people who look to the stars despite their hardships. Agent Intel Agent Details Asaba Harumasa, a member of Hollow Special Operations Section 6. Possessing exceptional Ether aptitude since he was young and being dubbed a prodigy, he entered HSO after graduating with outstanding merit. Was originally a member of a certain ace division within HSO, but later left due to various reasons, joining Miyabi's team instead. He possesses a carefree and laidback attitude, and his only wish is to achieve acceptable results with minimum effort. After efficiently taking care of his work to the lowest acceptable standard, he will hurry to use all the remainder of his available time to rest (slack off). He claims he uses a bow to better slack off, as it effectively lowers the amount of running he has to do. Asaba Harumasa has poor health, and over-exercise sometimes triggers his illness. He often uses this reason to apply for sick leave, though no one knows what he does with this time off. Either way, it's probably not resting. Asaba Harumasa has a very rare illness, Ether Aptitude Regression Syndrome. This illness causes certain parts of the patient's body to mutate, wrecking their constitution, but also giving them unusually exceptional Ether aptitude. In the late stages of the illness, the patient's body will rapidly deteriorate, losing their Ether aptitude and sensory functions while under immense pain, eventually resulting in death. If the patient's illness worsens in late stages while in a Hollow, they'll quickly be corrupted into an Ethereal. Those who suffer from Ether Aptitude Regression Syndrome do not live long. Currently, the longest-lived person with this illness died at the age of 26. There is no known method to completely cure this disease. Pan Yinhu was the most junior disciple of Yunkui Summit, and serves as its resident chef. He is particularly proud of his cooking, and works hard to make sure the food he makes is the best it can be for his fellow disciplies, actively discouraging them from ordering takeout so that he can feed them instead. He is also the manager of Yunkui Summit's funds. Due to his upbringing where he had to scrape by just to eat, he is well versed in bargain hunting, keeping tabs on local businesses and having numerous technique for acquiring the best bargains at any given time. There have been times though when this has led to dissatisfaction among the other members of Yunkui Summit, as his propensity for cheap deals leads him to skimp on more pricey ingredients, favouring vegetables over meat despite Ju Fufu's preferences.[1] Upon the arrival of of Phaethon to Yunkui Summit, Yinhu was eager to take them under his wing, as this was his first time having juniors of his own. As such he often dotes over them, providing them with extra food so they don't have to spend their own activity funds. Pan Yinhu had no kin to rely on during his youth due to the scarcity of panda Thirens across New Eridu, and had to scrape by on odd jobs he could find. He often suffered starvation during this period of his life, but eventually he found out his Ether aptitude was decent enough, and his raw physical strength sufficient enough to survive as a Hollow Raider.[2] To ensure no one stole what he claimed from the Hollows, Yinhu was willing to fight anything that would get in his way, be they ethereals, gangs or other Hollow raiders. This continued until he had a chance encounter with Yixuan inside of a Hollow. Yixuan was merely lost at the time and wanted to ask for directions, but Yinhu had just recovered an item related to porcelume that he knew would be worth a fortune. Interpreting Yixuan's intent as wanting to steal this item, he immediately fought her, only to be summarily defeated. Exhausted from the fight, and overcome by hunger, he passed out. When Pan Yinhu awoke, he found that Yixuan had taken him out of the Hollow, saving his life. She informed him that long-term exposure to Ether was making him struggle with his inner demons, and taught him a training regime to manage his violence and aggression. The effects were immediate, but with hunger still gnawing at him, he asked her if she had any food. Yixuan informed him that Yunkui Summit offers three meals a day. This, combined with the desire to keep hold of the technique she had taught him that had given him peace of mind, Yinhu joined Yunkui Summit. It was only upon joining however that he learned that "three meals a day" meant "funds for three meals a day", and also that there were no cooks working among the mystics. This led to Yinhu learning to cook himself, becoming the primary chef of Yunkui Summit. When he joined, Ju Fufu and Ye Shiyuan were already training, making him the most junior member of the group. Ju Fufu is a powerful mystic who takes great pride in her work and in her nature as a tiger Thiren. She is the most senior disciple of Yunkui Summit, though often gets annoyed with people assuming she's a kid when in practice she's just short in stature. She holds strong convictions and carries herself as a warrior of justice; one capable of dispatching evil wherever it should lurk. Like other tiger Thirens she has a preference for meat dishes. People often mistake Ju Fufu for various types of cat Thiren rather than a tiger Thiren, which irritates her greatly. Ju Fufu is accompanied by an Intelligent Construct popcorn machine named Hu Wei. Hu Wei's name is derived from a fictional tiger Thiren martial arts heroine called Hu Weiwei. He is non-verbal and has an overall grumpy disposition. He and Ju Fufu often come in to disagreements, but he is always primed to help her in any situation, and doesn't complain about being tired or hurt when being used in combat. Ju Fufu lived in the tiger Thiren settlement as a child, and grew up watching old martial arts films, being inspired by them, particular the tiger Thiren actor named Cang Huang, and the fictional tiger Thiren heroine Hu Weiwei. During the Fall of the Old Capital a companion Hollow of Hollow Zero consumed the tiger Thiren settlement, and the powerful Ethereals who appeared at the time decimated the resident, with 98% of them being killed. Yunkui Summit appeared shortly after the Hollow emerged, and Ju Fufu was rescued by the efforts of the mystics of Yunkui Summit, being one of the few survivors of the now near-extinct tiger Thiren clan. As Yunkui Summit made a deal with Porcelumex to leave Failume Heights following these events, Ju Fufu would join Yunkui Summit and lived on the mountain proper with what remained of the mystic order, being the first disciple of the new Grandmaster: Yixuan. She maintained her training over the years, and eventually would come to have juniors in Ye Shiyuan and Pan Yinhu. At some point in time, Ju Fufu would encounter Hu Wei, who would become her companion and combat aid from then on. Several months before the events of Where Clouds Embrace the Dawn, Yunkui Summit began their return to Failume Heights, resettling within the long abandoned Suibian Temple, and at this time Ju Fufu was roped in to a movie production called Legend of the Tiger Warrior!, however it was revealed this was a plot by The Exaltists to use the Tigerbane Bell; a tiger Thiren artifact long thought lost, to steal the power of Ju Fufu and one "Master Tiger", a process which would have turned them both in to ethereals. This however was revealed to have been orchestrated by Master Tiger; he had used the bell multiple times on his own kind since the tiger Thiren's decimation, and had manipulated the Exaltists in to drawing Ju Fufu out so he could do the same to her. Using the bell he merged the gathered Exaltists in to a powerful Ethereal with the hopes of defeating her, but Ju Fufu defeated it singlehandedly before apprehending the Master Tiger and handing him over to Public Security. Once Phaethon joined the ranks of Yunkui Summit, Ju Fufu became quick friends with them and supported them in their efforts as the most senior disciple. Ju Fufu is accompanied by an Intelligent Construct popcorn machine named Hu Wei. His name is derived from a fictional tiger Thiren martial arts heroine called Hu Weiwei.
