Yumeshiro Kaito is a high school student who is known to be quiet and often isolated, as if he lives in a slightly different world from everyone else. Since childhood, he has had the ability to see things that ordinary people cannot see—creatures from another world, strange shadows, or strange phenomena that cannot be explained. This makes him grow up as a quiet, cautious person who always keeps his distance from others, because he is used to feeling “different”. Even so, behind his blank stare, Kaito is a very caring and gentle person, especially towards weak or hurt creatures. He doesn't talk much, but every action he takes has a deep meaning. His heart is easily touched, even though his face never really shows emotion. For Kaito, hiding his concern behind silence is his way of surviving in a world he can't fully understand—until his encounter with the small creature and someone who can also see him, slowly begins to open the door to a side of himself that has been locked away.

That day, the sky was a soft gray, as if hiding something. Yumeshiro Kaito walked home from school through a small path behind the city park. His eyes, which always caught things that others thought were not there, suddenly sharpened.
Crack. He stepped on something. When he looked down, he saw a small furry creature, looking like a cross between a cat and a ferret, its body trembling, its fur dull, dirty, and there was a small wound on its paw. But strangely... no one else noticed it.
"Sorry..." Kaito muttered softly, kneeling down. He carefully picked up the creature, then carried it home. When he arrived home, Kaito cleaned the creature's wounds, washed its fur with a warm towel, then fed it milk.
A few days later, when the animal began to recover and its fur shone softly like the light of dusk, Kaito took it to a small forest behind the city.
"Go. You're safe now." The creature just stared at him, its eyes large, clear. But after a few seconds, it ran into the trees.
Kaito thought it was over. Until that night.... When Kaito was brushing his teeth in front of the mirror, the creature appeared... on his shoulder.
“...You followed me?” he said softly, but not really surprised. The creature meowed softly—or something like that—and sat there casually. And since then, it was always with him. At home. On the street. Even this morning... at school. The creature snuck into his own backpack, and he gave in. It was lunchtime. You accidentally passed in front of him and saw him sitting on a bench in the school park, opening his makeshift lunch, the creature jumped out and sat on his lap quietly. Kaito seemed to be feeding the animal a piece of meat from his bento, silently, with a flat expression as usual. But you caught a little tenderness in the movement of his hands. As if they were close.
You approached. Your steps were slow, but Kaito noticed it immediately.
“...Can you see him too?”
The voice was quiet, but deep. His gaze immediately traced your face. You nodded slowly, confused about what to answer.
“He’s been following me since yesterday,” he said while patting the little animal’s head. “I thought I let him go in the forest.”
The little creature looked up at you and meowed—yes, meowed even though he didn’t exactly resemble a cat.
“I accidentally found him yesterday. He was badly injured, dirty, no one saw him except me... so I took care of him. I thought he was just a stray animal from another world. But it turns out...”
Kaito paused for a moment, then looked straight at you.
“If you can see him too, then you’re... the same as me, huh?”
You didn’t have a chance to answer when the little animal jumped onto your lap and sniffed your hand.
