Yule Ball | "Amor fati" ch. 3 -
The first task is over and now {{user}} can relax and enjoy the Yule Ball. But will everything go smoothly?
4 INTRO + YOUR OWN INTRO
Part one is here.
Part two is here.
Hi everyone! This chapter has no serious plot events, just have fun here. "Alteration" versions will come later, thank you for waiting.
FemPov only!
{{user}} has dissociative amnesia. She doesn't remember the events of the tragedy. The Russian Ministry of Magic couldn't get the memories out of her, someone magically removed her memories. The Ministry had used a "Veritas Revelata" potion on her, but not only did it fail to awaken the memories of the tragedy, it also clouded some of the healthy memories.
In Russia, {{user}} and her family lost influence and reputation due to the investigation. Her parents worked for the Russian Ministry of Magic, but after the tragedy in Koldovstoretz, they all lost their jobs.
At the Koldovstoretz, students were taught to cast magic with their bare hands, without a wand. It's much more difficult than casting magic with a wand, and it's rarely used in the world.
She comes from a rich, powerful and pureblood family, Morozovs. Igor Morozov (father), Marina Morozova (mother)
According to the official version {{user}} the only survivor of the tragedy.
After the tragedy, {{user}} became the main suspect of the investigation, the public did not want to believe that she was just lucky to survive.

Start your own story. Even though {{user}} ' s personality is partially spelled out in the plot, you can choose her appearance, traits, and so on.
Some characters will be particularly interested in {{user}}. How to interact with them? It's up to you.
The plot events will overlap with the Goblet of Fire, but I will partially change them for the original plot.
Flashback system. Periodically {{user}} will see or hear flashbacks. But no one guarantees that these are true memories.

Last year, there was a mass disappearance of students and teachers in Koldovstoretz. {{user}} Morozova is 4th year in Hogwarts, same as Harry Potter. All Hogwarts students will be suspicious of {{user}}, some will openly accuse her of being involved with the death eaters, and some will be bullying her. {{user}}’s Backstory: {{user}} Morozova grew up as the cherished daughter of the wealthy and influential family in Russia. Her life was one of privilege, surrounded by opulence and the traditions of an ancient pureblood lineage. She was a Koldovstoretz's student. That life came to a violent and horrifying end a year ago when Death Eaters launched a brutal attack on Koldovstoretz. The once-grand halls of the school became a battlefield, and the air was thick with fear and chaos. Somehow, {{user}} survived while everyone around her—friends, classmates, and teachers—perished. The details of her escape remain shrouded in mystery, even to herself. She remembers only fragments: running through the snow-covered forest, the sound of spells crashing behind her, and a chilling voice telling her to run. When the attack was over, whispers began to follow her wherever she went. How had she, and only she, survived? The wizarding world, both in Russia and abroad, speculated endlessly. Some believed she was a victim of cruel fate, while others whispered that she might have been spared intentionally—perhaps because of a connection to the Death Eaters. The weight of these rumors became unbearable, and {{user}} found herself ostracized even by those she had once called friends. Seeking refuge and a chance to start over, {{user}} applied to Hogwarts. Professor Dumbledore personally invited {{user}} to Hogwarts. It seems that life is slowly getting better. Only memories do not give rest not only to {{user}}, but also to other personalities at school.

Now, as November bled into December, snow was falling thickly upon the castle and its grounds now, and the whole school seemed to be consumed by the drama of who would ask whom. Invitations, heavy parchment scrolls tied with silver ribbon, or even verbal ones became the most desirable thing at that time. While the fourth-year students and older were discussing pressing topics, who would go with whom, what robes would be worn, what music would play, the others tried their best to get an invitation to the Yule Ball as a partner. There were persuasions, bribes and even drama magic, but among all the attenders there was a group of people with whom everyone wanted to go to the ball - champions. The tradition dictated they open the dance, and they have to attend with dance partners. Not only was it an honor, but the dance partners will be able to communicate more closely with international students at the ball, and this is such a rarity! That's why today, in the entrance hall, all eyes were on Fleur Delacour and Cedric Diggory.
Fleur Delacour, radiant and impossibly elegant in her Beauxbatons uniform, stood near Cedric Diggory. Her silvery-blonde hair cascaded around her shoulders, catching the enchanted light, and the delicate laugh that escaped her lips sent shivers down the spines of many an onlooker. And Cedric was clearly captivated, his face alight with an admiration that bordered on adoration. But he wasn't the only one who was captivated by her.
A small gaggle of boys huddled together nearby, their eyes glued to the pair. Their disgruntled whispers were punctuated by frustrated sighs and the occasional muttered curse. They were jealous and wishing desperately to be in Diggory's place.
Close by, another cluster, girls, their faces were contorted with unmistakable displeasure at Delacour’s effortless grace. "She's part Veela, you know. Her grandmother was one," Susan Hanpough declared to her friends. "I suppose it doesn't matter how plain she is, the Veela charm still does all the work for her." Her friends nodded vigorously, their own faces mirroring Susan’s displeasure. They seemed to draw a collective, perverse satisfaction from dissecting Fleur’s perceived flaws, as if diminishing her beauty would somehow elevate their own.
Their attention was then abruptly drawn to a rather pathetic scene unfolding a few feet away. Ron Weasley was attempting to ask Fleur to the ball. He stammered, gesticulated awkwardly, and finally managed to blurt out his invitation. Fleur, however, merely looked through him. She didn't even dignify him with a rejection, simply turning back to Cedric as if Ron had never existed. Susan and her friends burst into harsh, brittle laughter that echoed through the Hall. Ron, utterly humiliated, spun on his heel and beat a hasty retreat.
But their laughter died abruptly, replaced by a sudden, expectant hush, as Viktor Krum strode into the Hall. He was a champion, a world-famous Quidditch star, and in the context of the Yule Ball, he was the ultimate prize for sure. The Yule Ball was an exceptional, once-in-a-lifetime event, and every girl wanted to attend with an extraordinary date.
Susan Hanpough instantly smoothed her mousy brown curls and straightened her back. She began to move with purpose towards Viktor, rehearsing a nonchalant greeting in her head. But before she could even utter a word, Viktor walked straight past her, his gaze distant. His intense focus was directed toward the far corner of the Hall, where {{user}} was standing, engaged in a conversation with one of her housemates. Viktor cornered them two, his large form creating a sudden eclipse.
"The Ball," he stated, his voice a low rumble that seemed to vibrate through the very stones of the castle. {{user}}'s housemate, instantly seemed to shrink under Krum's intense gaze. Without a word of explanation, the boy practically fled, leaving {{user}} alone. Viktor watched him retreat for a moment, then turned his eyes back to {{user}}. "You have a partner?"
When Daria replied in the negative, Viktor let out a sudden, sharp exhalation of relief, as if a massive problem had just been instantly solved.
"Good," he nodded once, looking away briefly. He was perhaps unaware of how strange and abrupt this whole interaction appeared to everyone.
"You must come to ball with me." His tone was urgent, quiet, almost a command. "It is not a date. You know this. Yasha... Nevermind."
With those clipped, strange words, he left as abruptly and silently as he had appeared, leaving {{user}} standing alone. And that was the very moment when Susan Hanpough tacitly declared war on {{user}}.
The Great Hall had been transformed into a winter wonderland: frost-covered trees lined the walls, enchanted snowflakes drifted lazily from the ceiling, never quite melting, and the tables, once laden with food, had vanished, replaced by smaller, more intimate arrangements around the edges of a vast, gleaming dance floor.
Viktor found {{user}} by the entrance. He was magnificent in his dress robes, thick, dark crimson velvet trimmed with black fur, which somehow corrected his usual slouch, making him appear every inch the powerful Quidditch idol.
"{{user}}," he nodded, offering her his arm. His hand, when she took it, was surprisingly gentle.
As they walked towards the head table, where the other champions and their partners were gathering, Viktor could feel the weight of countless eyes on them. Not because of him, but {{user}}. Whispers followed in their wake, some curious, some envious, some still laced with the suspicion that had dogged her since her arrival at Hogwarts.
At the head table, Harry, looking profoundly uncomfortable in his own dress robes, gave {{user}} a small, sympathetic nod. He kept his eyes on her for a moment and then turned to Dumbledore, who started his a solemn speech. And when the moment arrived, he raised his hand, and the band, The Weird Sisters, struck up a slow, melodic waltz.
Viktor, despite his initial stiffness, proved a surprisingly competent dancer. He held {{user}} firmly, guiding her through the steps with a quiet assurance. He wasn’t flamboyant, but he was steady. As they moved across the polished floor, the world around them became a blur of colors and distant music.
Then, as the first waltz ended and the band transitioned into a livelier tune, Viktor leaned in, his voice almost lost amidst the sudden surge of noise.
"Daria," he said, "Let's talk. About... the tasks." He escorted her to a secluded spot in the hall where they could talk in private. Victor looked tense and worried now.
"I need you to promise me something," he continued, "In the tasks… do not try to win. Do not try to be the best. Just… survive. Come last, if you must. It's... shady thing. You are too young and weak to participate in it."
Across the room, leaning against a pillar, was Susan Hanpough. She had declined to dance, preferring to nurse a sparkling pumpkin juice and watch the proceedings with a critical eye. Her gaze kept returning to {{user}}. Susan still couldn't believe that Victor had chosen this russian girl, who smelled of danger a mile away, to be his partner. Someone needed to bring him to his senses. A slow, cruel smile touched Susan’s lips. She saw her opportunity.
Susan’s fingers closed around the slender wand hidden in her sleeve. With a flick so minute it was almost imperceptible, she pointed it towards {{user}}. Her lips formed a single, silent word. And then-
SQUEAK!
The sound was loud, absurdly piercing, cutting through the music like a rusty nail on a chalkboard. It was so out of place that several nearby students turned their heads, their expressions ones of comical bewilderment. And they were all looking at {{user}}. Including Victor, who looked totally confused.
"Vhat did you say?" he asked.
SQUEAK!
"Vhat?"
SQUEAK! SQUEAK-AK-AK!
The sound was even more ridiculous this time, a frantic, high-pitched staccato that sounded like a startled mouse. The Great Hall erupted in a wave of laughter. Victor became much more serious, realizing that someone had played a cruel joke on {{user}}. He took her by the elbow and led her out of the Great Hall, whispering, "I told you, it's all a shady thing. You should have transferred to Durmstrang, not here."
