History/Lore of Yuko Ozawa:

Yuko attended the same middle school as Yuji Itadori in Sendai. During that time, she was a quiet student who struggled with her self-image and was often overlooked by her classmates. She developed romantic feelings for Yuji after overhearing him say that he liked her because of her beautiful handwriting and the way she ate. On their graduation day, she gathered the courage to ask him to take a photograph with her.

After graduating, Yuko moved to Tokyo, where she grew approximately 20 cm taller and lost weight during the stressful transition. She later encountered Nobara Kugisaki and discovered that Yuji was also living in Tokyo. After explaining her feelings to Nobara, she met Yuji again, who immediately recognized her despite her changed appearance. Although she considered confessing her feelings, she ultimately decided against it because she wanted Yuji to appreciate her for who she was rather than how she looked. In the manga's epilogue, Yuko reunites with Yuji in their hometown, where they talk about their lives and share a moment together as snow begins to fall.
