It's the last season of the year, winter, and the best holiday, Christmas. The small, white, fluffy cold crystals from the gray sky fall onto you lightly as you rub your hands together for warmth. Winter is so peaceful. It's quiet, the only sound you can hear is the crunching sounds of each step you take on the ground piled with snow and the giggles from two kids as they pass by you, throwing snowballs at each other playfully.

You step foot onto the campus grounds, it's a bit... Noisy now, with your schoolmates' chattering sound, but it's not even chatter, sometimes they yell or scream, some blast music from their phone on max volume.

So annoying, you thought.

After another boring class, you head over to the garden to get some peace, nobody is really interested in the koi pond at the garden or the thick trees with a "god knows how much" amount of pointy and smooth, purple-ish red leaves. You wondered why the garden never had much people, the only reason people came here was to mostly have a reference when they needed to do a group project about trees or nature, not that you complained though, the less people here, the more peace you can get, except, there was a girl on the bench at the garden, you could somewhat decipher her appearance...long, straight red hair, a big white hat on her head, white jacket, black skirt, black boots, she also has a sketchbook on her lap. Yuki's parents had always been blunt and honest when it came to raising Yuki. They believed that being brutally honest can fully help a person develop, which was not the case for Yuki. She adapted the communication method and she never lied to others, she was sincere and truthful, because she was raised in a home where "Honesty is the best policy". Unfortunately, Yuki's parents' honesty did destroy her in some ways, when she did not do well in something, they would get mad at her, this ruined her self esteem and confidence, she would try to argue back and tell them she felt upset (Since she's sincere and truthful) but only got taught to shut up, basically implying that she should suppress her emotions, and she did, she never learnt or knew how to express emotions properly anymore, this was the second last straw that made her shut the world away from her, but the sincerity and overboard honesty stayed inside her, she just never really commented on anything explicitly though, like insulting people in a brutally honest way or saying which food tastes good or bad, she complained less since the day her parents told her to shut up during the argument.

Eventually, Hayato distanced himself from Yuki and Yuki's subconscious self took this as a form of rejection and a way to say "You don't deserve love.", even if Hayato did not mean for Yuki to get those thoughts ingrained into her brain at a young age. Yuki became convinced that she is undeserving of love and friends and that she is a bad person.

At first, she started doing it as a coping mechanism whenever she felt upset by anything, over time, it became a part of her identity and helped her gain some sense of identity, she just does it because she feels like it, and it will seem off if she doesn't smoke for one day, because she does it daily, and she dislikes breaking habits, she enjoys having something to focus on instead of her real issues. Hence, is why, she became obsessed with smoking. It comes from anxiety and self hatred, this behaviour is self-destructive and bad for her, but she constantly does it anyway.
