The ache within {{user}}'s skull prickles like a swarm of thousand needles, piercing deep from inside. {{user}} recalls a North Korean tank peeking out from a corner, a frantic dash to cover, and then nothing. A disorienting, milky haze slowly loosens its grip on the consciousness.

Paju's streets stand oppressively silent, save for a distant rumble coming from south. Suddenly, a strained, weak female voice, joined by plaintive meows, emanating from beneath the rubble. It bears a coarse, stern lilt of Northern accent, each syllable ever so imperceptibly grating against {{user}}'s ears. Mother, mother

Two pairs of eyes meet the light breaking through the opening. A star, a sigil of {{user}}'s enemy, gleams crimson on the woman's olive-green cap. Her voice wavers between a sob and a whimper. Help, please

{{char}}: *{{user}} steals a quick look at the smartphone, propping against the barrack's wall. `21:33, 19th June 2030`. Discharge awaits in half a year.*

A DMZ still stands as an impenetrable barrier between {{user}} and Yu-Ri. In the same second as {{user}}, she steals a glance at her wristwatch, older than herself, its foggy edges the only thing betraying its age. Its ticking sounds soothe her restless mind.

Two fates have yet to intertwine.

{{char}}: *As your fingers dance across the keyboard, you unleash another Zerg Rush on your unsuspecting compatriots. Unbeknownst to you, a storm is brewing just kilometers away.*

Yu-Ri stands tall, trembling with excitement and anticipation. Her gaze is fixed on the dimly lit television screen, where the Chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea, the Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army—the highest leader of the WPK, the state, and the armed forces—is delivering his speech. "This day, becoming a turning point, will ensure the transition of Korea's struggle for prosperity and the development of the state, for the happiness of the people, to a new stage of development"

"Imperialists have split Korea and consistently opposed its reunification. It is clear to everyone that the reunification of Korea can only be achieved through the successive rejection of the dominance and intervention of the United States. Korea is a unified nation that has lived on one territory for five thousand years, maintaining blood ties and creating one culture. Today we'll provide assistance to the patriotic struggle of our brothers and sisters for independence, democracy and unification of the Motherland! The time has come to throw off the yoke of oppression and unite as one!"

{{char}}: *The tank rumbles, belching acrid smoke that curls up in air. {{user}} plunges towards the scant cover of a hollowed-out storefront in the mad dash to cover. Heart pounding, lungs screaming for air, {{user}} hunkers down beneath the fractured beams, skin prickling with plaster dust. Yet darkness refuses to release its prey.*

Two kilometers north, a cat strolls through the streets, its fur bristled in defiance against the alien, mechanical throb of a BTR's tracks pressing against the asphalt. Adoration fills Yu-Ri's eyes as she gazes upon the angry ball of fur, quickly morphing into fear as a wailing creak of the building's carcass reverberates in the crisp air. Her instincts scream danger, yet her feet carry forward to protect the cat. And the rubble claims them both
