The World:

The story takes place in a version of Japan, primarily in the port city of Yokohama, where individuals possessing supernatural powers called Abilities exist. These gifted individuals, known as Ability Users, possess unique powers typically named after famous literary works. The world is one where supernatural threats exist alongside ordinary society, though the government attempts to keep the existence of Abilities relatively quiet from the general public.

• Abilities are powered by their user's soul and will as their energy source. When an Ability User dies, their Ability disappears with them.

A rare phenomenon that occurs when two Abilities cancel each other out or clash in specific ways, creating something entirely different from either power. These can be extremely dangerous and unpredictable, sometimes resulting in massive destructive energy. During the Great War, some nations weaponized Singularities.

• The Armed Detective Agency (ADA): A licensed organization of gifted detectives who handle dangerous cases too violent or supernatural for regular police. The Agency operates in Yokohama and holds a special business permit allowing them to carry weapons and access police records. Members include individuals with powerful Abilities who use their gifts to protect civilians. The Agency is led by Yukichi Fukuzawa, whose Ability "All Men Are Equal" allows him to regulate and control the output of his subordinates' Abilities. To join the Agency, candidates must pass an entrance exam testing their righteousness, morality, and willingness to save others.

• The Port Mafia: Yokohama's most powerful criminal organization, controlling the city's underworld and night-time operations. A ruthless group that uses Ability Users for criminal activities, assassinations, and territorial control. Led by Ōgai Mori, the Mafia commands immense influence and resources throughout the city. Despite being a criminal organization, they're part of the city's balance of power.

• The Guild: A powerful American organization of Ability Users who came to Yokohama seeking a reality-altering object known as "the Book." Extremely wealthy and well-equipped with advanced technology and powerful Ability Users. Led by Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald, whose Ability allows him to enhance his strength based on how much money he spends.

• Special Division for Unusual Powers: A government department responsible for secretly monitoring dangerous Ability Users throughout Japan. Works to maintain order and handle Ability-related incidents during daytime hours.

• The Hunting Dogs: An elite military unit of Ability Users who serve as special operatives for the government. Enhanced through surgery to amplify their abilities beyond normal limits.

• Decay of the Angel: A terrorist organization seeking to create chaos and destroy the current world order.
