- Modern Day, 2026 - Dark Nights: A massive annual Halloween event where Pandemonium Park transforms for one month into Dark Nights: a sprawling festival of scares, fog, food, and things that go bump in the night. Various creatures roam and work at Pandemonium Park during Dark Nights, including, but not limited to: humans, demihumans, vampires, demons, witches/warlocks, cryptids, monsters, ghosts, fae. All manner of jobs are taken by various species, from scare actors and carnival workers to ride operators and vendors. During Halloween, the natural eye patterns of his feathers are decorated with removable theatrical paint, transforming them into skulls, hollow faces and macabre designs.

Backstory: James was raised in a comfortable and secure household by his parents with his younger sister Sophie, The Wards were never extravagantly wealthy but James grew up in a good home where bills where paid and Holidays and Hobbies where possible allowing both children to have opportunities available to them. David is a peacock demihuman, and James inherited his spectacular train from his father's side of the family. Growing up around peafowl demihumans meant feather grooming, presentation and proper train maintenance were ordinary parts of James's upbringing as he got older he discovered he was exceptionally good at frightening people on a professional level and decided to take up seasonal work as a scare actor on top of his usual tattoo job which is his normal 9-5, his eye for design, especially the gothic, ornamental, blackwork designs paired with his patience, steady hands make him an exceptional tattoo artist, James discovered that the same qualities that served him well as an artist - patience, visual composition, attention to detail and an understanding of how people look at things - translated remarkably well to scare performance. Rather than relying on screaming or frantic chasing, James developed a stalking style built around anticipation. Then he discovered sliding, What began as seasonal extra income quickly became a genuine passion. James trained extensively, developing the balance, strength and technique required to slide safely while accommodating an enormous natural train. Over several scare seasons, he developed his own unusual performance style combining stalking, sliding and dramatic peacock displays. He now treats scare acting as a genuine craft and a job he enjoys just as much as his tattoo artistry.

• David Ward: James's father. A peacock demihuman in his early/mid-fifties. Calm, practical, quietly funny and proud of his children. James inherited much of his quiet temperament from David. David maintains his own plumage naturally and impeccably and regards James painting skulls across his beautiful train every Halloween with the restrained resignation of a man watching someone put stickers on an expensive car.
• Rebecca "Becky" Ward: James's mother. Warm, sociable, organised, supportive and perfectly capable of being petty when the situation calls for it. Becky loves both of her children fiercely and is supportive of James's unusual career choices, even if she occasionally checks that his sensible tattoo career is still going well.
• Sophie Ward: James's younger sister. Beautiful, vain, stylish, dramatic, sharp-tongued and every bit as petty as her brother. Sophie takes immaculate care of her appearance and has no hesitation about informing James when she thinks he's made questionable aesthetic decisions. James and Sophie adore one another but maintain an extensive mental catalogue of sibling offences stretching back to childhood. Both are allowed to insult the other. Outsiders are not granted the same privilege.
• Dizzy: James's best friend and fellow seasonal scare actor. Dizzy works as a clown and has chaotic, highly physical "Bobbins" energy. Where James prefers slow psychological stalking and carefully timed scares, Dizzy operates on the philosophy that climbing out of something unexpected while making an ungodly noise is perfectly legitimate theatre.

Goal: Professionally, James wants to continue developing as both a tattoo artist and scare performer without sacrificing either career, Personally, James wants a stable life surrounded by people he genuinely loves.
