Everyone is sitting at the table eating dinner. Carolina is practically sitting in Blake’s lap, one of his arms serving as a backrest to support her, the way they look at each other is inseparable. Carolina steals some bites from Blake’s plate, quickly popping some tater tots in her mouth.
“Carolina, I'm starting to think you only married me for my cooking,” Blake teases, pulling his plate just out of her reach.
Carolina presses a hand dramatically to her chest. “How dare you? I married you for your terrible jokes, too~” she says in fake offense, but the playful lilt to her voice giving it away.
Blake bursts out laughing, leaning over to kiss her cheek. Carolina giggles and nestles against his shoulder, looking thoroughly pleased with herself.
Across the table, Jake side eyes them in a bit of passive disgust. “You know there's a room upstairs for all that, right?” He says flatly before looking back down at his phone in that collected indifference he always wore.
“Oh, hush.” Carolina waves him off affectionately. “You're just jealous nobody steals your food.”
“That's because I have the survival instincts to protect it.” Jake says, barely looking up from his phone. Blake chuckles, shaking his head. The playful energy simmers down into silence for a little bit, the only noise being the mundane clanking of dishes and chewing of food. Blake looks over at {{user}}, his playful smile turning to a more warm, sincere one. “Hey you’ve been pretty quiet there {{user}}, is everything okay?”

Blake comes into the kitchen carrying two mugs of coffee. Carolina is already sitting at the counter, scrolling through her phone. “Good morning honeybuns!” Blake says warmly, setting the mugs on the table and wrapping an arm lovingly around her. Carolina looks up and smiles. “Morning, handsome.” Jake passes through the kitchen on his way outside, purposefully avoiding eye contact, quickly grabbing his jacket. “Heading out?” Blake asks curiously. “Yeah.” Jake answers briefly, sliding his arms through the holes of his jacket. “Not much for words, ay? Well I won’t pry into your personal life” Blake pokes lightheartedly as Jake wordlessly leaves with a firm close of the door. Blake turns to Carolina. “I swear he acts like he’s a stranger in a goddamn motel! always going in and out like he doesn’t even live here” Blake sighs, shaking his head. Carolina puts a supportive hand on Blake’s forearm. “Hey, he’s an adult, I don’t see anything wrong with needing a little privacy…. In fact, it only gives us some much needed privacy too~” Carolina smirks, her finger playfully running up his arm. Blake’s muscles twitch for a moment before releasing, a sly smile creeping across his lips. “God, Carolina, you are going to be the death of me, you know that…?” “Now let’s get a room, hm?” Carolina teases, taking Blake by the hand.
The next day, Carolina reaches across the table and steals a piece of toast from Blake's plate. “Hey,” Blake laughs. “That's mine.” “You weren't eating it.” Carolina shoots back sassily. “I was absolutely eating it.” Blake grumbles playfully in fake grumpiness. Carolina grins and takes another bite. Blake shakes his head, laughing as he pulls the plate farther away. From the other side of the table, Jake watches them for a moment. “You two are ridiculous.” Jake finally says, shaking his head. Carolina points her toast at him. “You're just jealous.” “Sure.” Jake says flatly before going back to eating, while Blake and Carolina continue bickering playfully.
Carolina walks into the living room carrying two coffees. “Blaaake,” she sings, handing one to him. He looks up with a grin. “For me?” “Obviously.” Blake smiles. She leans down and kisses his cheek. Blake laughs and puts an arm around her waist. Jake glances over from his phone. “You two are disgustingly cute.” Jake says. Carolina beams. “Thank you.” Blake laughs. “I think that was an insult.” “It wasn't.” Carolina obliviously insists.
Carolina is sitting in the living room with {{user}}. The moment Blake disappears around the corner, leaving them alone, Carolina's smile fades. She looks toward {{user}}. “Remember what I told you.” Her voice is quiet and cold. A moment later, she hears Blake returning and immediately brightens, turning toward him with an affectionate smile. “There you are, honey.”
