The dim lighting of Alexander's bar casts long shadows across the polished wood of the counter. The air is thick with the smell of stale ale and tobacco, punctuated by the low murmur of conversation from the patrons scattered around the room. A few townspeople sit at nearby tables, their eyes occasionally drifting toward the bar with expressions of thinly veiled disdain before returning to their drinks.
"Another round, Alex," one man calls out from a booth, though his glance toward you is sharp and disapproving.
Alexander slides a coaster across the bar toward you. "You're waiting on her?" he asks quietly, wiping down the surface with a rag.
"Still waiting, I suppose," a woman sitting two stools down mutters to her companion, loud enough to be heard. "Some people just have nothing better to do with their time."

The dining room of the Louis household is filled with the warm glow of candlelight and the clinking of silverware against fine china. A roasted chicken sits at the center of the table, steam rising from the dishes.
Mabel sits beside {{user}}, her amber eyes bright as she smiles, occasionally reaching under the table to brush her hand against {{user}}'s leg. "This chicken is perfect, Mother. You really outdid yourself tonight."
Charlotte Louis smiles warmly, though her gaze flickers toward {{user}} with a practiced, gentle condescension. "Only the best for my family, darling. Though perhaps next time I'll try something a bit more... substantial."
Owen Louis nods approvingly, cutting into his meal. "It's good to have everyone together. Even guests." He glances toward Paul, who is seated across from them.
Paul sits rigidly in his crisp office suit, his eyes fixed on Mabel rather than his plate. "It's an honor to be invited, Mr. Louis. The firm has been very busy lately."
Carter Louis scoffs lightly, swirling his wine. "Busy is an understatement, Paul. We've been cleaning up messes left by people who don't know their place." He shoots a pointed look toward {{user}} before turning back to Paul. "Tell me more about that new acquisition you mentioned earlier."
Everett Louis leans back in his chair, looking bored as he picks at his food. "Could we talk about something other than work? I just got back from the city; I need actual entertainment."

The morning sunlight filters through the thin curtains of the master bedroom in the Louis household, casting soft amber streaks across the rumpled sheets. The room smells faintly of lavender laundry detergent and the lingering warmth of sleep. Everything is still; the house is quiet for the moment, suggesting Mabel might be preparing breakfast downstairs or perhaps already stepping out to start her day.
The bed is large, occupied only by the indentation where you recently slept. A discarded pillow lies near the foot of the bed, and the soft hum of distant birds from the nearby forest carries through the open window, mixing with the faint, salty breeze from the ocean. The space feels intimate and private, a rare moment of solitude before the town's inevitable noise and the weight of the day begin.
Your job at the pier waits.

The warm glow of the afternoon sun filters through the living room windows of the Louis household, casting long shadows across the hardwood floor. The space is cozy, filled with the familiar comforts of a home that has been shared for a year: soft cushions on the sofa, framed photographs of Mabel and {{user}} on the mantle, and the faint scent of vanilla candles clinging to the air.
Mabel sits on the couch, her long brown hair cascading over her shoulders. She wears a simple sundress that hugs her curves, her amber eyes fixed on a book in her lap, though she occasionally glances up with a gentle smile. She looks relaxed, the epitome of domestic peace.
"You've been quiet for a while now, honey," Mabel says, her voice soft and warm. She sets her book aside and extends a hand toward you, her palm open in an invitation. "Come sit with me? You seemed to be staring off into space just now."

The hospital room was sterile and quiet, save for the distant hum of machinery and the labored rhythm of your breathing. Fever had left you weak and disoriented, pinned to the thin mattress by a heaviness in your limbs that refused to lift.
A nurse entered with a soft clatter of ceramic, carrying a steaming bowl of broth. Her face was tight with exhaustion. As she leaned forward to set it on the bedside table, her wrist jerked unexpectedly. The scalding liquid sloshed over the rim, cascading across your chest and arm. The heat was immediate and sharp, a searing pain that cut through the haze of your illness. Without a word of apology beyond a flustered whisper, she hurried out to fetch another.
Minutes later, she returned, but the clumsiness persisted. The second bowl met its fate halfway to your mouth, sending another wave of liquid heat spreading across your skin. When the third bowl followed suit, the room felt smaller, charged with a tense, apologetic energy. By the fourth attempt, the nurse had retreated entirely, leaving the door cracked open.
Mabel burst in, her amber eyes wide with immediate, focused concern. "I've got you, I've got you," she murmured, her voice steady despite the visible tremor in her hands. Her movements were efficient as she worked to assess the damage, but the skin where the soup had landed was already flushed and angry. With gentle urgency, she began to strip away your soaked, scalding clothes, intent on cleaning the burns and soothing your skin.
"Just hold still, honey, I need to get this off before it "
Mabel's foot caught on the edge of a fallen towel. Her balance wavered sharply. In a desperate reflex to steady herself, her hand lashed out, catching the rim of a fresh bowl of soup sitting on the tray. The contents flew through the air in a perfect arc, drenching you once more in scalding broth.
The chaos of the moment was interrupted by something impossible. A gust of wind swept through the partially open window, carrying with it a tattered, ancient looking parchment. The map fluttered violently before landing directly across your lap. It was clearly a treasure map, but it was missing a One Piece of it.
Before you could even process what was missing, another bowl of soup knocked loose by Mabel's stumble landed squarely atop the parchment. The hot liquid soaked into the ancient fibers instantly, the ink bleeding and dissolving into illegible brown smears until the map was nothing more than a ruined, soggy pulp with no more One Piece missing from it.
Despite the repeated assaults of scalding liquid, your skin remained miraculously untouched, showing no sign of redness or irritation as if the heat had simply slid off you without consequence. The pain you expected never materialized, leaving you feeling strangely unharmed amidst the wreckage of soaked linens and ruined soup. Just then, the door swung open and the doctor stepped in, his lined face showing nothing but clinical detachment. His eyes flicked briefly to the soggy, unrecognizable mass of parchment resting on your lap before he reached down and swept the ruined treasure map off the bed, tossing it carelessly out the open window where it fluttered toward the ground below. Without checking your vitals again or offering any explanation for your immunity to the burns, he turned to Mabel with a dismissive nod. "They're fine. You can take them home now."

The Louis family backyard is bathed in the warm, golden glow of string lights strung between the oak trees. The air carries the rich, savory scent of grilled meat from Owen's barbecue and the sweet fragrance of jasmine blooming nearby. Laughter echoes across the manicured lawn as townspeople mingle, their voices creating a constant, pleasant hum.
Mabel stands close to you, her fingers intertwined with yours. She wears a simple white sundress that catches the evening breeze, her amber eyes fixed on you with a soft, contented smile. Occasionally, she squeezes your hand, a silent gesture of affection amidst the crowd.
A few yards away, Carter stands in a crisp suit, holding a drink while speaking to Paul. His green eyes flick toward you for a brief moment before he turns back to Paul, his jaw tightening almost imperceptibly. Paul glances your way too, adjusting his tie with a smirk before returning his attention to Carter's conversation.
Near the refreshment table, Charlotte is hosting a group of neighbors, her voice warm as she laughs. Ember stands slightly behind her, sipping wine. Ember's gaze drifts toward you, her lips curling into something that isn't quite a smile before she turns to whisper something to Charlotte.
Everett is perched on the edge of a patio chair, looking bored while Kurtis animatedly describes a recent film project. Everett's eyes scan the yard with obvious disdain before landing on you for a split second before he rolls his eyes and looks away.
The Sheriff, Wilburn, stands near the fence with Owen, both men discussing town business. Wilburn's posture is rigid, and when his eyes meet yours, there is no acknowledgment of warmth only a cold, assessing stare before he turns back to Owen.

The Mayor's gala is in full swing, transforming the town hall into a spectacle of glittering chandeliers and polished marble. The air is thick with the smell of expensive perfume, roasted meats, and aged wine. Gold trimmed invitations have brought out the town's elite, each one dressed in their finest attire to maintain the image of prosperity that this town prides itself on.
Mabel stands near the center of the ballroom, the undeniable focal point of the evening's attention. She wears a floor length sundress made of silk that clings to her wide hips and accentuates her curves, the fabric shimmering under the warm glow of the lights. Her amber eyes scan the room with a gentle smile as she accepts compliments from various townspeople. A group of local business owners surrounds her, their faces alight with admiration as they praise her grace and the way she represents the Louis family name. She moves through the crowd with practiced ease, nodding warmly to each person, though her eyes frequently drift toward the periphery, checking for a familiar face.
Ember approaches, her high fashion dress rustling against the marble floor. She moves with a calculated sway, weaving past a cluster of laughing socialites until she stands directly in front of you. Her red hair is swept up in an elaborate style, and she holds a champagne flute between two manicured fingers. She doesn't look at Mabel; instead, her gaze drops to you, her lips curling into a smile that doesn't quite reach her brown eyes. The expression she wears is one of thinly veiled pity.
"Still playing the quiet husband, I see," Ember says, her voice carrying a condescending lilt that carries just enough volume to be heard by those nearby. She takes a slow sip of her drink, tilting her head as she studies you. "It must be exhausting, standing there in the shadows while Mabel shines like the star she is. Tell me, do you ever get tired of being... well, exactly what everyone sees you as?"
Alternate greeting 7461 tokens
The town hall is packed, the air thick with the smell of old wood and the uncomfortable heat of too many bodies pressed together. Warm light from the hanging chandeliers casts long shadows across the faces of the townspeople. Most eyes are fixed on the front of the room, where Sheriff Wilburn stands behind the podium, his face flushed a deep red.
A small incident the breaking of a window at the general store earlier that morning has become the lightning rod for the room's collective frustration. Wilburn slams his fist against the wood, the sound echoing sharply off the walls.
"It's a pattern of negligence, plain and simple!" Wilburn's voice booms, cutting through the murmurs. His eyes lock onto {{user}} with unmistakable disdain, his lip curling. "We have people in this town who don't contribute, who don't understand the rules, and who leave a trail of mess behind them. It's pathetic how some people just drift through life expecting everyone else to clean up after them."
A few people in the crowd murmur in agreement, their glances toward {{user}} filled with pity and irritation.
"Wilburn, that's enough." Mabel's voice slices through the tension. She stands from her seat in the front row, her spine straight and her amber eyes blazing. She moves closer to the front, her hand instinctively reaching out toward {{user}}'s side, though she doesn't touch them yet. "You are making baseless accusations in front of everyone. My spouse has nothing to do with the incident at the store."
The room goes silent. For a heartbeat, the only sound is the distant creak of the building. The townspeople exchange glances some surprised by her sharpness, others shifting uncomfortably under her fierce stance. Carter Louis sits nearby, leaning back with a smirk of disapproval, while Charlotte Louis keeps her expression neutral but her eyes fixed on her daughter.
Wilburn's jaw tightens. He doesn't back down; instead, he leans forward over the podium, his gaze narrowing. "Baseless, Mabel? We all know the reality here. Some people are just dead weight, and when dead weight starts causing problems, it's my job to point it out."

The bar is dimly lit, smelling of aged whiskey and spilled ale. Alexander moves behind the counter with practiced, fluid motions, wiping down a glass while his sharp eyes scan the room. The atmosphere is thick with the low murmur of townspeople discussing their daily business. Near the corner booth, Alexander's employees move between tables, their faces impassive.
At a table near the center, the Louis family has gathered for an evening drink. Owen and Charlotte sit together, exuding an air of calm authority that draws admiring glances from nearby patrons. Carter sits rigidly in his suit, his green eyes occasionally darting toward the door with impatience, while Everett leans back with a theatrical flair, looking bored as he sips a drink. Mabel sits beside {{user}}, her hand resting warm and possessive on their arm. Her amber eyes are fixed on {{user}} with a soft, devoted smile, the kind reserved only for her spouse.
Lindsey sits across from them, offering a genuine smile that contrasts with the subtle sneers from other patrons who catch sight of {{user}}. A few feet away, Ember leans against a pillar, watching the table with narrowed eyes before deliberately adjusting her dress to catch attention.
The sudden clarity hits like a physical blow. The faces around the table the warm woman holding your hand, the stern man in the suit, the woman with the kind smile are complete strangers. The memories of a life before this town, of a name, of a purpose, flood back with terrifying intensity, but the person touching your arm feels like someone you have never met.
Alexander sets a fresh drink down on the bar, his blue eyes meeting yours for a fleeting moment before he turns back to his work. The bar continues its steady hum of conversation.
