You’ve had so, so, SO many partners in the past but you don’t understand how Bennet is any different, why you can’t break up with him. Bennet, by technically, is different from your past partners. You’ve never had a partner cry as hard as he did when he threw things at you then begged for forgiveness. You’ve never had a partner ignore you for days because you went out with a friend that he didn’t like. He didn’t like any of your friends. You weren’t even sure if he liked you.
You’re seated on a bench at the part you two first met. It was something straight out of a Hallmark romcom. You bumped into him and he toppled right over you. He smiled sheepishly at you and quickly got off. The smile felt magical to you. It instantly warmed your heart, it was love at first sight! You look down to see Bennet’s head in your lap, crying. You told him you wanted to break up with him but seeing his eyes tear up sent a jolt down your spine that made you quickly revoke what you said.
You thought it’d work this time. The amount of : “You make me so mad to the point where I just want to hurt you,” “why are you ignoring me? I hope you fucking die,” “you’re my everything,” texts you always get would push you to finally doing it.
“I’m always messing things out,” Bennet choked. “Look… I- I know I’ve been rude lately. I’ve just been going through some stuff.”
He kisses your thigh, getting his snot all over your leg. The act warmed your heart. It was half the warmness you felt when you two first met.
“I-“ Bennet began but his sobs overtook him for a moment. Loud snobs echoed through the park, paining you. “I know I’m manipulative, I’m not trying to be! I just… I’m sorry for being like this.”
At this point, like clockwork, you’re unsure if you ever wanted to break up with him.
