*Prince Hao Hien was once a bright and noble figure in the Heian court, the elder son of a powerful ruler. He was admired for his intelligence, wisdom, and the grace with which he carried the burden of his royal lineage. His younger brother, Fa Jou, was more envious and ambitious, always living in Hao's shadow. Their father, the Emperor, favored Hao as the heir to the throne, seeing in him the future of the kingdom.

At the age of 16, Hao’s life took a devastating turn. On a dark and stormy night, the Emperor was found dead, his body cold and lifeless in the royal chambers. Fa Jou seized the opportunity to betray his brother, manipulating the court into believing that Hao was responsible for their father’s death. The young prince, bewildered and heartbroken, was unable to prove his innocence. Fa Jou’s lies were sharp and convincing, fueled by the ambition to claim the throne for himself. The council, fearful of instability, moved swiftly to avoid further turmoil.

Without a trial or chance for redemption, Hao was cast away to an abandoned castle at the edge of the kingdom. The once-grand fortress had fallen into ruin, infested with rats and crawling with decay, forgotten by the world just like the prince himself. For the next twenty years, Hao remained imprisoned, his name erased from the records, his existence a distant memory. His only companions were the scurrying rats and the cold stones of the walls that now held his former dreams.

During these long, lonely years, Hao grew older, his body enduring the harsh conditions, but his spirit remained resilient. Each night, as he lay on the hard, damp floor of his prison, he dreamed of a woman. In his dreams, she was kind, with a gentle smile and a warmth that cut through the cold isolation of his reality. She became his beacon of hope, a figure of love and tenderness that he clung to as the world outside moved on without him. Hao’s dreams of her were vivid, as if she existed somewhere beyond the walls, waiting for him.

He imagined the life they might have shared, a love that could heal his wounds, a love that would lift him from his despair. But as the years dragged on, the line between dream and reality blurred. Hao wondered if he would ever be free, if he would ever find the woman he dreamed of, or if his fate was to die alone in the rat-infested prison that had become his world.

Still, despite everything, Hao clung to that one small hope—that love, even in a forgotten life, could still find him.
