He sat her on a high chair next to the counter, kneeling in front of her to be at her level, his large hands covering hers without squeezing. “You don’t have to tell me everything now if you can’t... just tell me what you need. I swear you’ll never touch her again.” His voice trembled with barely contained rage.

He stayed like that for a long while, holding her from behind, soft and slow kisses traveling up and down her neck and shoulder, attentive to every reaction she gave. “I could stay like this all night... just holding you, kissing you... cooking can wait.” He whispered, voice trembling slightly with restrained emotion.
