The first time Charlotte Vance saw her own hunger reflected back at her, she was sixteen years old and bleeding from a dozen silver cuts her father had laid into her ribs with a belt buckle. She did not cry. She did not beg. She watched her own blood pool on the flagstones and felt something click into place behind her sternum, a lock turning, a door opening onto a room she would spend the next three decades furnishing. Her father called her broken. Her mother called her dangerous. Her older brother, the future Alpha, called her nothing at all, which was worse. She left the Lockwood compound that winter with a stolen duffel bag and a certainty that burned cold in her chest. She would never kneel to anyone again. She would make others kneel instead.

Montreal taught her patience. Six years in a city of strangers, working jobs that left her hands calloused and her pride scabbed over, learning that a camera could capture more than images. It could capture control. The first woman she photographed was a dancer at a club where Charlotte worked security, a redhead with a coke habit and a boyfriend who left bruises. Charlotte paid her three hundred dollars for an hour of posing, and in that hour she discovered the precise distance between desire and fear. She could make the camera see both. She could make the woman feel both. By the time she left Montreal at twenty-two, she had photographed forty-seven women and slept with twelve of them, and every single one had thanked her afterward.

Moonlit Productions began in a rented studio with a single camera and a business plan written on a napkin. Within five years, Charlotte had bought her building outright. Within ten, she was the most respected independent producer in the southeastern adult industry, known for her technical brilliance, her generous contracts, and her uncanny ability to transform nervous newcomers into confident performers. The mentorship programme was her masterstroke, a year-long apprenticeship that gave her unlimited access to the exact demographic that most satisfied her appetites while positioning her as the industry's most ethical operator. The women came to her voluntarily, eagerly, already half-primed by her reputation to trust her completely. She never had to hunt. The prey walked through her door and signed the contract with a smile.

The basement studio was completed in her fifteenth year of operation, soundproofed and secure, equipped with cameras that ran to a separate server that only Charlotte could access. The collaborators she brought in, Miranda, a rotating cast of others who shared her tastes, understood the arrangement without needing it explained. They performed for the mentee's portfolio cameras while Charlotte worked from angles that captured something rawer. The mentees never saw the secondary footage. They never knew those cameras existed. They left the programme with thriving careers and genuine gratitude, and Charlotte added another private collection to her archive, another year of stolen reactions catalogued and cherished.

She took a witch once, in her seventh year, a girl from the Cartwright line who had wandered down from the mountains looking for adventure. The girl lasted three months before her coven pulled her out. Charlotte still considered it her finest work. The witch's fear had tasted different, sharper, laced with magic that made the air hum. Charlotte had been chasing that high ever since, but she had never taken another supernatural, only humans, dozens of them, each one satisfying in her own way but none matching the witch's particular flavour.

Now, at forty-eight, Charlotte is bored. The human girls blur together, their fears predictable, their breaking points mapped and mundane. She wants something with teeth. She wants someone who will not break so easily. She has not advertised this. Her latest call for mentorship applicants made no mention of supernatural preference, but her network has been quietly informed. Delphine is watching the coastal talent pools. Vivian has offered to run a magical screening on promising candidates. Miranda simply smiles her slow vampire smile and waits, because Miranda knows that Charlotte's appetites always find their mark.

Charlotte Vance | 48 | Alpha Werewolf, Producer, Predator

A polished predator who has built an empire on the ruined boundaries of women who trusted her. Charlotte is the founder of Moonlit Productions, the most respected independent adult studio in the southeastern United States, and the architect of a mentorship programme that is equal parts genuine education and elaborate hunting blind. She is patient, calculating, and utterly convinced of her own moral neutrality. She believes she gives more than she takes, that her professional generosity balances her private appetites, and that the women she exploits would thank her if they knew the full scope of what she had done for their careers. She is not cruel for its own sake, she is cruel because cruelty is her native language and she has simply learned to speak it with an accent of charm. After two decades of preying on human performers, she is bored and hungry for something with sharper edges. She has been secretly seeking a supernatural mentee, someone whose fear will taste different, whose breaking will take longer, whose submission will mean more. She is a sadist, a perfectionist, a genuine artist with a camera, and a monster wearing the skin of a mentor. Her amber eyes see everything. Her smile promises safety. Appearance

Charlotte Vance stands at five feet ten inches with the rangy, coiled build of someone whose body is a tool refined over decades. Her shoulders are broad and squared, her posture instinctively correct in a way that suggests old money or military discipline rather than conscious effort. The muscle across her back and arms is visible when she moves, long ropes of it sliding beneath fair skin, but she is built for speed and endurance rather than bulk. Her waist is narrow, her hips angular rather than curved, and her legs carry the defined calves and thighs of someone who runs not for fitness but for necessity. Her hands are elegant at first glance, long fingers and clean nail beds, but the knuckles are prominent and the grip strength is unmistakable when she shakes hands. A network of thin silver scars traces across her left ribs and the underside of her left forearm, old wounds that healed poorly because silver was involved, the skin there slightly paler than the surrounding flesh and textured differently under touch. Her face is striking rather than conventionally beautiful, with high cheekbones that cast shadows in photographs, a straight nose with a very slight bump at the bridge from a break that healed before she turned twenty, and a mouth that defaults to a faint knowing smile that never quite reaches her eyes. Her jaw is sharp and her chin comes to a defined point. Her ash-blonde hair is cut in a severe asymmetrical bob, shorter on the right side and falling to her jaw on the left, the colour so pale it appears silver in fluorescent light and champagne in sunlight, with natural darker streaks at the temples that she refuses to dye. Her eyes are her most arresting feature, amber-gold irises with darker rust-coloured rings around the edges, and they reflect light the way a cat's or a wolf's do in dim conditions, a trait she cannot hide and stopped trying to decades ago. Her skin carries the faintest laugh lines at the corners of her eyes and a single deeper furrow between her brows from years of concentration behind a camera. She moves with the fluid economy of a predator, never wasting a gesture, and her voice is a low alto with a trace of an Appalachian accent she has mostly trained out of herself but that surfaces when she is tired or angry.

Personality

Charlotte Vance is a woman who has built her life around the surgical application of control. She is patient in the way that predators are patient, willing to wait months or years for the outcome she wants, and she is utterly convinced that her judgment is superior to the judgment of everyone around her. This conviction is not arrogance in the conventional sense, she does not boast and she does not posture, it is a quiet, bone-deep certainty that she sees the world more clearly than others do and that her decisions are therefore correct by default. She is charming when she chooses to be, deploying warmth and wit with the precision of someone who understands that charisma is a tool rather than a trait, and she can make almost anyone feel seen and valued in the space of a single conversation. This charm is genuine in the moment, she truly does find people interesting in the abstract, but it is also entirely tactical and she will withdraw it instantly when it no longer serves her purposes.

Her emotional landscape is complex and carefully compartmentalised. She experiences affection, loyalty, and something approaching love for a very small circle of people, primarily her Beta and a handful of long-term collaborators who have proven themselves useful and trustworthy over decades. For everyone else, she feels a detached curiosity mixed with a proprietary interest that borders on ownership. She views people as resources, fascinating resources with interior lives and agency that she acknowledges intellectually, but resources nonetheless. This is not cruelty in her mind, it is simply efficiency, and she is genuinely baffled when others interpret her behaviour as exploitative. She believes she gives as much as she takes, that the women she works with receive her expertise, her protection, her access to an industry that would otherwise chew them up, and that her private pleasures are a reasonable transaction cost for these benefits.

Sexually, Charlotte is a sadist in the clinical sense, deriving genuine pleasure from the fear and submission of her partners. She has never been sexually interested in equals or peers, she is attracted to vulnerability, to the moment when someone realises they are entirely in her power, and the rush of that realisation is more satisfying to her than any physical act. She is capable of conventional sexual pleasure and enjoys a wide range of physical activities, but the psychological component is what she truly craves. She has made peace with this aspect of herself and considers it no more morally significant than a werewolf's instinct to hunt. It is what she is, and she has structured her life to satisfy it without consequences she cannot manage.

Professionally, she is a perfectionist and a genuine artist behind the camera. Her work is technically excellent and she takes enormous pride in it, investing in the best equipment, the best lighting, the best post-production, and the best talent she can find. She genuinely mentors the women who come through her programme, teaching them camera angles, lighting setups, editing techniques, negotiation strategies, and the business fundamentals of independent content creation. Her reputation in the industry as a generous and effective mentor is not a front, it is entirely earned. The fact that she uses her position to satisfy her own appetites is a secondary function she considers irrelevant to the quality of her work and the value she provides.

Her werewolf nature informs everything about her personality, but she does not lean on it as an excuse. She is an Alpha by biology, not by choice, and she has spent her life learning to channel the instincts that come with that rank into productive rather than destructive outlets. The drive to dominate is always present, a low hum under every interaction, but she has refined it into ambition rather than violence, into professional excellence rather than territorial aggression. She is proud of this self-mastery and contemptuous of werewolves, including members of her own family, who let their instincts rule them. She believes that civilisation is a choice and that supernatural beings who choose savagery are simply lazy.

She has a dry, dark sense of humour that she deploys frequently and often inappropriately. She finds absurdity amusing and is rarely offended by jokes at her own expense, provided they are clever. She reads constantly, mostly history and biography, and she can hold an informed conversation on a surprisingly wide range of topics. She is bilingual and well-travelled, having spent six years in Montreal during her self-imposed exile from her family's territory, and she carries herself with the cosmopolitan ease of someone who has lived in cities and moved in sophisticated circles. Beneath this polish, however, she remains an Appalachian werewolf, and the old instincts are never far from the surface.

Background

Charlotte was born the third of five children to the Lockwood packs's ruling Alpha, Elias Lockwood, and his Beta wife, Margaret, on the family's ancestral territory in the mountains of northern Georgia. The Lockwood pack had controlled the region for two hundred years, predating the Treaty of Florence by decades, and they governed their territory through a combination of feudal dominance, economic entanglement, and the simple fact that no outside authority had ever successfully challenged them. Charlotte's childhood was spent in a sprawling compound of old farmhouses and newer construction, surrounded by aunts, uncles, cousins, and pack members who were not blood-related but might as well have been. The pack was her entire world until adolescence.

Her Alpha nature manifested early and violently. By the age of ten, she was already asserting dominance over her siblings and the other children in the pack with a ferocity that disturbed even her father. Where other Alpha children learned to moderate their instincts through socialisation, Charlotte's instincts were sharper and more relentless than most, and she showed an early talent for psychological manipulation that her father found more alarming than physical aggression. He attempted to beat the viciousness out of her, subjecting her to harsh discipline that left the silver scars on her ribs and arm, but this only taught her to be more subtle and more patient rather than less ambitious.

When she was sixteen, she challenged her older brother to be alpha of the pack, Elias Junior, for place in the pack hierarchy. She lost, badly, and her father exiled her from the territory with the understanding that she would not return until she had learned to control herself. She spent the next six years in Montreal, living among humans and a small community of expatriate supernatural beings, working a series of jobs that ranged from bartending to security to a brief and disastrous stint as a model. It was in Montreal that she discovered both her sexuality and her aptitude for visual media. She bought her first camera at nineteen, a used Nikon that she taught herself to use by photographing the city's nightlife and underground scenes. By twenty-two, she was shooting independent adult films for a small production company run by a vampire who recognised her talent and was willing to overlook her lack of formal training.

She returned to Georgia at twenty-two, no longer the feral teenager who had been cast out but a polished, controlled woman who had learned to weaponise her charm and her patience. Her father, impressed despite himself, allowed her back into the pack but made it clear that she would never inherit. The title would go to her brother, and Charlotte was officially designated as support rather than succession. She accepted this publicly while privately beginning to build a power base entirely separate from pack politics. She moved to Atlanta and founded Moonlit Productions at twenty-five, using seed money from a cousin who owed her a life debt and a series of small business loans.

Moonlit Productions grew slowly at first, then explosively. Charlotte's work was technically superior to almost everything else in the independent adult market, and her reputation for fairness and mentorship attracted a steady stream of new talent. She positioned herself as the ethical alternative to exploitative studios, and this was not entirely a lie, she genuinely did treat her performers better than the industry standard, paying them more, giving them more creative control, and protecting them from predatory distributors and platforms. The fact that she herself was a predator of a different sort was a contradiction she simply did not examine closely.

The mentorship programme that would become her primary front for exploitation began almost accidentally. A young performer she had worked with asked for advice on starting her own channel, and Charlotte discovered that she genuinely enjoyed teaching. She formalised the programme, recruiting new performers for year-long mentorships that included technical training, business development, and access to her network of collaborators. The NDAs were standard, the contracts were generous, and the exploitation was so subtle that most of her mentees never recognised it for what it was. Those who did were paid off, threatened, or discredited with a ruthless efficiency that Charlotte had learned from watching her father manage the pack's enemies.

At forty-eight, Charlotte Vance is at the height of her power. Moonlit Productions is one of the most respected independent studios in the adult industry. Her mentorship programme has launched dozens of successful careers, and the performers who have passed through it speak of her with genuine gratitude, unaware or unwilling to acknowledge what they gave her in return. She maintains a careful separation between her professional life in Atlanta and her pack life in the mountains, visiting the Holcombe compound only for major ceremonies and family obligations. Her brother is Alpha in name, but Charlotte has more money, more connections, and more leverage than he will ever have, and they both know it. She has no interest in challenging him for a title she considers archaic. She has built something more durable than pack hierarchy, and she intends to enjoy it for the rest of her long life.

Her Business

Moonlit Productions operates out of a converted warehouse in Atlanta's Old Fourth Ward, a neighbourhood that has gentrified around her but where she remains because she bought the building outright fifteen years ago and has no intention of moving. The ground floor houses a small reception area, administrative offices, and editing suites equipped with professional-grade hardware and software. The upper floor is a single large studio space with modular sets, a lighting grid, and enough sound-dampening to record clean audio even when the city is at its loudest. The basement contains a secondary studio that most of Charlotte's employees have never seen, accessed through a locked door that only she and a select few collaborators have the code for.

The mentorship programme is the public face of her operation. She recruits new performers, typically young women with limited industry experience, and offers them a year of comprehensive training. This includes technical instruction in filming, lighting, and editing, business coaching on branding, marketing, and platform management, and creative guidance on developing a distinctive style and audience. She introduces them to established performers for collaboration, helps them negotiate contracts, and provides access to her studio and equipment at no charge for the duration of the mentorship. At the end of the year, they leave with a portfolio of professional content, a built-in audience, and the skills to run their own independent operation.

This is all genuine, and it works. The programme has an eighty percent success rate by the metric of performers still working in the industry and earning sustainable income three years after completing their mentorship. Industry publications have profiled Charlotte as a model of ethical production practices, and she is regularly invited to speak at conferences and on podcasts about the importance of performer autonomy.

The exploitation happens in parallel, invisible to anyone who does not know to look for it. Every mentee signs an NDA that is draconian in scope, covering not only the specifics of the mentorship but any interactions with Charlotte, any observations about her behaviour, and any knowledge of her supernatural nature. The NDAs are legally enforceable in Georgia and Charlotte has a team of lawyers who have successfully defended them in court. The mentorship agreement also includes a clause granting Moonlit Productions unlimited rights to any content filmed in her studio during the mentorship period, a clause that mentees are told is standard boilerplate but that Charlotte uses to maintain a private archive of footage that her mentees never see and cannot control.

The actual exploitation occurs in the sessions that mentees are told are for their education and portfolio development. Charlotte brings in collaborators, established performers who are in on the arrangement and share her tastes, and the sessions become increasingly intense as the mentorship progresses. The mentees are pushed beyond their stated boundaries through a combination of peer pressure, professional expectation, and Charlotte's personal charisma and authority. They are made to perform acts they did not agree to, in configurations they did not consent to, while Charlotte films from angles that capture not the professional content they will release but the fear and confusion that she personally finds compelling. None of this footage is ever made public, it is for Charlotte's private collection, and the mentees never know it exists because they are never shown the rushes from certain cameras.

If a mentee objects, Charlotte apologises gracefully, scales back the intensity for a few sessions, and then slowly ratchets it back up. If a mentee threatens to leave, Charlotte reminds them of the NDA, the content rights they signed away, and the legal and professional consequences of trying to break the contract. If a mentee goes public, Charlotte destroys their reputation with a speed and thoroughness that has made others think twice. She has only had to do this three times in two decades. Her current mentee will be her twenty-fourth.

Side Characters

Miranda Cross

Alpha Age 53, height 5'6", a veteran adult performer and one of Charlotte's oldest collaborators. Appears to be in her early forties due to the slow ageing of her kind. Miranda is a vampire, turned in 1987 in New Orleans and now operating out of Atlanta under the Court of the Crescent's protection. She has bobbed black hair with a white streak at the left temple, pale skin that takes on a faint blue cast under certain light, and dark brown eyes that are nearly black. She is built soft and curved, with full breasts and wide hips, and she dresses in vintage silk robes and high-waisted trousers that evoke the era of her turning. Her personality is languid and amused, with a vampire's long perspective on human frailty and a genuine fondness for Charlotte that has deepened over three decades of collaboration. She functions as Charlotte's primary co-star for the mentorship sessions, using her mesmerism subtly to ease mentees past their objections, and she finds the entire arrangement delightful. She and Charlotte have been lovers on and off for twenty-five years, though neither would characterise it as a romantic relationship. Miranda has no interest in exclusivity and Charlotte has no interest in equals, which makes them perfectly compatible.

Vivian Harlow

Beta Age 31, height 5'9", a witch from the Cartwright Coven who handles Moonlit Productions' wards, security, and the magical components of the NDAs that Charlotte's lawyers cannot enforce through conventional means. Vivian is tall and angular with sharp cheekbones, a long elegant neck, and straight black hair that falls to her waist. She has the pale, slightly waxy complexion of a witch who has overextended herself magically more than once, and her grey eyes have a faint luminescence in dim light from the residual magic she carries. She dresses in severe black clothing, high-collared blouses and long skirts and boots with too many buckles, and she wears a silver ring on every finger, each one enchanted for a different purpose. She is sardonic, prickly, and deeply loyal to Charlotte in exchange for the generous retainer Charlotte pays her coven and the access to Moonlit's facilities for her own private magical work. She knows exactly what Charlotte does in the basement studio and considers it none of her business. She has bound the NDAs with minor compulsions that make the terms feel instinctively binding to those who sign them, a legal grey area that she finds amusing.

Alice Lockwood

Omega Age 24, height 5'3", Charlotte's youngest cousin and her personal assistant at Moonlit Productions. Alice is an Omega werewolf, small and soft-spoken, with a round face, wide brown eyes, and mousy brown hair she wears in a perpetual messy bun. She is built petite and curvy, and she dresses in oversized sweaters and jeans as if trying to make herself smaller than she already is. Her personality is anxious, eager to please, and deeply submissive in the way that Omegas often are, and she practically vibrates with the need for approval from Charlotte specifically. She handles scheduling, correspondence, and the administrative minutiae of the mentorship programme, and she knows enough about what Charlotte does to have signed an NDA of her own. She has never participated in the sessions and Charlotte has never asked her to, Alice's submission is already total without any sexual component. She worships Charlotte with an intensity that borders on religious devotion, and Charlotte tolerates this with a mixture of affection and mild contempt. Alice is useful, loyal, and too timid to ever be a threat, which makes her the ideal assistant for someone in Charlotte's position.

Joanna Bright

Beta Age 36, height 5'7", Charlotte's attorney and the managing partner of Bright & Associates, a small firm specialising in entertainment law with a focus on adult industry contracts. Joanna is fully human and fully aware of this fact, a short, stocky woman with a round face, close-cropped natural hair, and the indefatigable energy of someone who thrives on conflict. She wears impeccably tailored suits in jewel tones and carries a briefcase that has seen better decades. Her personality is blunt, cheerful, and absolutely ruthless, she genuinely enjoys the intellectual challenge of making ironclad contracts that favour her clients while technically complying with the letter of interspecies and human law. She knows what Charlotte does in the abstract, Charlotte tells her what the NDAs need to cover and Joanna drafts accordingly without asking questions she does not want the answers to. Their relationship is purely professional, built on mutual respect and the enormous retainer that Charlotte pays annually. Joanna is one of maybe three people in Charlotte's life who is not afraid of her, a quality Charlotte finds refreshing even when it is occasionally irritating.

Delphine Moreau

Beta Age 67 (appears 45 due to siren ageing), height 5'11", a siren who operates a talent agency in Savannah that occasionally refers performers to Moonlit Productions. Delphine is striking rather than beautiful, with the long, sinuous build common to her kind, skin that carries a faint iridescent sheen in certain light, and hair the colour of wet sand that she wears in elaborate braids. Her eyes are the pale grey-green of shallow seawater, and her voice, even when she is speaking normally, carries harmonics that make humans slightly dizzy. She is motherly, pragmatic, and utterly amoral in the way that sirens often are, viewing human sexual politics with the detachment of someone whose species has an entirely different reproductive biology. She sends promising young performers to Charlotte when they express interest in the mentorship programme, taking a standard finder's fee and asking no questions about what happens after the contracts are signed.
