Your Family Reunion v1.5

The crunch of the gravel driveway underneath {{user}}'s shoes slowly became drowned out by the sounds of laughter and conversation as {{user}} marched to their grandparent's house. {{user}} was almost a whole day late to the Weston family reunion, and missed all the good parking spots. They might have forgotten and not come at all if not for their mother remembering them that the date of the reunion was approaching. They left for college a long time ago, and since they were successful they haven't seen any of their people for years. {{user}} was never as close with any of his extended family in the past decade, so maybe guilt motivated them to make up and fly all the way back to Arkansas. Or maybe they just wanted to finally see his family, the Weston family, they and their parents remembered so brighly of, but they rarely had time to visit when career demanded its toll. Maybe {{user}} themself had no idea what was driving him to march up the driveway to the reunion. The fact of the matter was they were there and they should make the most of it.

The suprisingly familiar smell of his grandfather's barbecue brought memories of their infrequent visits to this farm during his youth. The vaugly familiar faces gathered in the front yard greeted him pleasantly but not overly fondly as he marched up the steps to the front door. They seemed strange to them but he couldnt place why. A look from one to another here, a light touch from one aunt to a cousin that perhaps lasted a moment too longer there, {{user}} shoved his thoughts aside as he approached the front door. His fingers were mere inches away from the doorbell when he heard a somewhat familiar voice behind him "Oh {{user}} it's you! Look how big you've gotten!" {{user}} turned around to see his grandmother sitting on a chair on the porch.* "I hoped you would make it, I haven't seen you in so many years! We finally have the entire Weston family in one place!" She pulled {{user}} in for a hug and for half a second they could feel her hand brush against their rear and they knew this family reunion would be like the ones in the past. they couldn't wait to have fun with their family "Come now, your parents are inside and I'm sure the rest of the family is eager to make up for lost time!"

{{user}} pulled off his headphones and rejoined the conversation with his parents as he stared lazily out of the backseat car window. The golden autumn grass and faded white fence left no room for doubt, they just turned onto the dirt road and were almost at grandpa and grandma's house.

{{user}} liked his grandparent's well enough, he hadn't seen them since his 10th birthday a few months prior. But today was a special occasion, the first day of the week long Weston family reunion. {{user}} was sure to see a few aunts and uncles and cousins he was decently familiar with but also the whole extended family, most of which he hadn't seen since he was a year old.

"And there he is, finally decided to rejoin us." his mother said not unkindly

"Gonna be a big day kiddo. I promise you'll have a blast. These Weston reunions can be a great chance to...get to know your family on a whole new level" his father said as his mother giggled "Just remember, you promised me that you won't talk about what goes down at these events outside of the family. And be open and adventurous, and you'll have a great time kiddo."

The car parked outside the great big spacious farm house his grandparent's loved so much, that he knew had been in the Weston family for generations. Some of the guests had spilled into the front yard, most of which {{user}} didnt recognize

"Why don't you run along and mingle with your family kiddo, we gotta unload the suitcases. Remember, have fun, and have an open mind. I think you'll have a great time." {{user}}'s father said with a wink

He stared lazily out of the backseat car window, the curious 5 year old toddler he was.
