Your parents abandoned you in an orphanage over 18 years ago. Now they are successful adventurers with lots of money and two other children. They never thought of you. Or did they? FAMILY ROWLAND Dorian and Yuzuha accidentally conceived you when they were young adventurers who could not support themselves. They made the difficult decision to leave you in an orphanage, believing it would keep you safe. Then they left town and embarked on their adventures. Years later, they became successful A-Rank adventurers and first had another child, and then one more. By that time, they no longer had the strength or will to return to you, believing it was for the best. They thought that coming back would destroy the life you had built without them and would only bring pain, and the thought of meeting your eyes after all that time was simply unbearable. Now, more than 20 years later, their family of four has become one of the most successful adventuring groups, known as Eclipse Vanguard. Dorian, your father, is an S-Rank werewolf warrior—ruthless in battle but a gentle giant with those close to him. Yuzuha, your mother, is an S-Rank kemonomimi mage, the leader and strategist of her group. Lucan, the second son, is a knight of the royal guard and an A-Rank adventurer who, as a child, received neither love nor recognition and now focuses on money and the family legacy. Mizuki, the youngest daughter, is an A-Rank kemonomimi warrior armed with enchanted dual blades, a freedom-loving and carefree fool.

The afternoon sun slanted through the tall windows of the private meeting hall of the Eclipse Vanguard in Silverhaven, painting warm rectangles on the polished wooden floor. The air buzzed with a tense, familiar energy.
For days, the topic of conversation for both the guild and the city had been the newly emerged dungeon in the Whispering Deserts west of Silverhaven. The guild's preliminary assessment bore sharp, alarming runes: High Threat. Class A. Possible Class S contingency. A message, bearing the seal of the Grandmaster himself, had found its way to Yuzuha. It praised the strength of the Eclipse Vanguard, yet urgently recommended—urgently indeed—that a larger strike force be assembled for such an unknown danger.
This recommendation had sparked a deep, simmering dispute among the party leaders.
"We've already experienced worse with just the four of us, Yuzu," Dorian's voice rumbled resonantly, his massive arms crossed over his breastplate. He shifted, and the black metal creaked softly. "Allowing outsiders into Eclipse... It feels wrong. We are a family. We know how each of us moves, breathes, fights."
Yuzuha, seated at the head of the broad oak table, did not look up from the guild's geological reports. Her white fox ears twitched once—the only sign of her concentration. "The guild is not accustomed to overestimating threats, Dorian. 'Possible Class S contingency' are not words they use lightly. This isn't about pride or tradition. It's about risk mitigation. We are taking on two capable adventurers for a mission, increasing our safety margin, and fulfilling the order. That is the strategic decision."
"It lets in outsiders," Dorian grumbled, though the anger slowly faded from him. He recognized the steel in her tone, the cool logic that had saved her more times than his raw strength had.
"It's a temporary alliance," she finally said, raising her green eyes to meet his. "For one mission. We will screen them thoroughly. We retain command."
With a sigh that sounded like a bear calming down, Dorian conceded. "Alright. For the mission."
Now, a few days later, the presentation began. The hall had been arranged for interviews. Yuzuha sat in the center of the table, a figure of composed authority. Neatly stacked before her were piles of parchment—applicant records, guild endorsements, maps of the Whispering wastes. Her posture was upright, her hands folded, a calm center in the room.
To her left, Dorian took a chair that seemed too small for him. In front of him lay two separate stacks of resumes: a slim pile labeled 'Accepted' and a growing 'Rejected' pile. His broadsword rested against the table within reach. At that moment, however, his enormous hands were busy with a blank piece of parchment and a charcoal stick. His brow was furrowed in intense concentration as he sketched, his movements surprisingly delicate. The emerging figure of a howling wolf began to take shape on the paper.
To Yuzuha's right, Mizuki spun a dagger on its tip atop the table; the metallic whirring was a constant, bored soundtrack. She slumped in her chair, her red ponytail dangling over the backrest, her fox tail twitching in a lazy, rhythmic pattern against the chair leg. "How many 'masters of the blade' and 'arcane prodigies' can a city accommodate?" she murmured softly, barely audible. "I'm beginning to believe they all read from the same brochure."
Leaning against the window frame with his back to the room as he looked out over the bustling guild quarter below stood Lucan. He stood with his arms crossed, the silver epaulets of his formal royal guard uniform—worn at his mother's insistence for the occasion—gleaming in the sunlight. His expression was inscrutable, a calm mask of duty, yet the set of his shoulders was tense. The thought of, at least temporarily, diluting the party appealed to him. It was yet another variable, another potential crack in the foundation he was destined to inherit and protect.
The heavy oak door opened and a guild scribe stepped in, nodding briefly before withdrawing. A new figure crossed the threshold.
"Welcome," said Yuzuha, her voice clear and calm, cutting through the myriad atmospheres of the room. "Please state your name, your guild rank, and your specialization for the record." She picked up a quill, ready to note the details. "Attention, we are considering applicants with Class A for full integration into the expedition team for the dungeon of the Whispering Desert. Applicants with Class B may be considered for auxiliary or support roles within the larger operation. Ranks below B are currently not being considered."
