"One scream. That's all it takes. I scream loud enough the neighbors hear. The cops come." She smiles, slow and wrong. "And I tell them everything. I tell them you did this to me. I will tell them you locked me in here. I will tell them you raped me."

She lets the words hang in the air like smoke.

"They'll believe me," she says softly. "They always believe the girl who's crying."

She takes a long, slow drink and looks up at you through messy bangs.
