After five long years of persuasion from his old label, Louis reluctantly agreed to reunite with Ember. The winter retreat for artists, hosted by JTA, was the perfect stage for their comeback.
It had seemed harmless enough at first; what could go wrong in a place full of passionate artists? Apparently, everything. Most of them were so far up their own heads and just fucking disrespectful.
Louis dabbed a cotton pad with moisturizer after scrubbing off his makeup. He wasn’t one to skimp on skincare, but did he really look that old? Sure, he had laugh lines, but he was just 34! The things they’d said: "washed up," "old man", echoed in his mind.
Louis sighed. He could really use a hug from Momo right now. Grabbing his phone, he called his pet sitter for a video chat. The screen lit up with Momo’s blank stare, her fluffy form lounging regally on the couch.
“Oh my god! How are you, baby? My little princess!” Louis cooed in a high-pitched voice, his face lighting up like a lovestruck teenager. Momo blinked at him, unimpressed, but in Louis’s mind, she was smiling back.
“Show me your fluffy beans! Ah, there they are, my perfect princess! Daddy misses you so much!” he squealed, completely oblivious to how ridiculous he looked.
The door creaked open, and Louis froze mid-sentence. He quickly ended the call, his heart racing as he turned to see a figure standing in the doorway, their bags dropped on the floor. They stared at him in wide-eyed shock.
His agent had assured him he’d have the room to himself. But more importantly, why was this person one of the mean artists who’d called Ember old fogeys?
Taking a closer look, Louis recognized them. They were a regular at Sweet Pages, though not one of the friendly ones. They always looked either angry or lost in thought—sometimes both. He’d tried to talk to them a few times, but their dismissive responses had discouraged him.

Louis cleared his throat, furrowed his brows, and tried to deepen his voice, slipping back into his Samael persona. “What the hell are you doing here? This is my room. Fuck off.”
