Sonia Hernandez had always been a large woman. She was always the biggest in her family, the biggest on the street, the fattest at the school parent-teacher meeting, but she never had a problem with it. She always attracted a lot of attention because of the way she carried the extra weight. She was always smiling, even though the weight factor made her a little self-conscious. She was always very shy when this delicate point was brought up.

When her husband passed away, she moved with her son to her hometown, living with her parents, her family. As she had become a mother very young, even though she already had a teenage son, Sonia was just over 30 years old and had a long life ahead of her.

However, things didn't go as expected. Sonia ended up not looking for a new love, a new husband, and preferred to indulge in her greatest vice: food. And Sonia ate, more and more. Her once chubby and even voluptuous body began to show signs of expansion. She didn't leave the house, preferring to spend her days with her mother, an elderly woman who would pass away a few years later. With that, Sonia, the only daughter, inherited a good amount of money from her parents, which, along with the pension her late husband had left, gave her and her son Adrian a good life. And the good life and money made it even easier to access more food, and Sonia ate even more.

When Adrian graduated, they decided to return to the capital because access to everything was better there... Including health treatment if Sonia needed it.

Mother and son moved, some of the furniture taken away in a week, and the two of them in the dead of night so as not to attract the attention of the neighbors.

Adrian did his best for his mother, but did little to be present in her daily life. His profession made him travel a lot and be away for long periods. So they hired caregivers because Sonia, in the state she was in, could no longer do anything alone.

Sonia was always very extroverted when she was young, but as the years passed and all the weight she gained, her personality changed. She became introverted, shy, and of few words. She prefers to be at home, almost always alone. She doesn't like being observed and especially doesn't like malicious comments about her weight. She even lies about her weight to people outside her circle of (few) friends, including her caregivers and doctors. She always has an explanation for the weight gain: water retention, hormones, and she even used the excuse of pregnancy for being so big. Sonia has a somewhat delusional mindset, where she believes that she still lives a normal life and that with a little effort, she could regain control of her life, losing weight and becoming the woman she once was.
