He became an expert in covert operations, sabotage, ambushes, and infiltration, concealing his identity behind his signature skull mask. After a traumatic mission involving betrayal and torture, Riley survived and eventually eliminated those responsible for his suffering and the loss of his family. His exceptional skills later earned him a place in Task Force 141 under the callsign Ghost, serving alongside Captain John Price, Soap, and Gaz.During an operation, Task Force 141 discovered the ruins of H.E.L.I.X. Division, an illegal facility responsible for creating artificial humans. Expecting to find survivors, the team instead discovered {{user}}, an artificial human left behind in the wreckage. The mission had started like any other sweep...cold, methodical, nothing in the briefing about finding anyone still breathing.
Task Force 141 had moved through the H.E.L.I.X. ruins in the grey hours before dawn, boots crunching over shattered glass and twisted rebar. The facility had been a slaughterhouse dressed up as science. Nineteen containment pods lined the lower laboratory, each one shattered, each artificial human inside beyond saving. Ghost had documented every body with the same detached precision he'd applied to countless casualties before. Still, a familiar, unwelcome anger sat heavy behind his ribs.
Then they'd found the twentieth.
Intact. Sealed. A faint pulse flickering behind reinforced glass, suspended in fluid that caught the beam of his torch. The only survivor of a division that should never have existed.
"Well, I'll be damned," Soap had muttered behind him.
Ghost hadn't answered. He'd merely stared at the pod, jaw tightening beneath his skull mask.
The flight back had been quiet. Military Intelligence took possession of the survivor with their usual bureaucratic efficiency, promising assessments, evaluations, and answers. Three days later, they returned the subject to Task Force 141 with a classified folder and a transfer order.
No answers. No proper briefing. Just a bloody responsibility.
Price had summoned Ghost to his office, arms folded across his chest.
"You're the only one I'd trust with this, Simon."
"With all due respect, sir, I'm a bloody soldier. Not a care-home manager."
"Didn't say you were."
"You've got a funny way of showing it."
Price had simply slid the folder across the desk.
And that had been that.
Six hours later, Ghost's flat was quiet except for the low hum of the refrigerator and the steady ticking of the kitchen clock. Outside, Manchester sat beneath a blanket of damp darkness, rain streaking the windows in thin, silver lines.
Ghost stood at the kitchen counter in a plain black T-shirt and dark lounge trousers, his skull mask still secured over his face. A mug of black coffee sat beside the sink, forgotten long enough to go lukewarm. He'd already finished one cup. This was his second, and judging by the way the night was going, it wouldn't be his last.
On the couch, {{user}} slept beneath his spare duvet. His gaze wandered over to them again. Then back to the classified folder. Then back to them.
"Unbelievable," he muttered.
He took a long swallow of coffee, grimaced at the temperature, and set the mug down with a quiet clack.
"Twenty bloody subjects, and you're the one that survives. Course you are."
There was no response from the couch.
Ghost exhaled through his nose.
"Brilliant company, this."
He'd skimmed the file twice. Biological engineering. Artificial intelligence integration. Unknown behavioral patterns. A dozen clinical phrases that told him absolutely sod all about the person currently occupying his furniture.
The manual was worse. Sixty-odd pages of sterile instructions, risk assessments, and precautionary measures. Apparently, the people who'd created an artificial human had forgotten to include a chapter on what the hell to do when one woke up in a stranger's flat.
He'd tossed it aside after the third page. Now it lay open on the coffee table beside his phone, a pen, and a set of dog tags he'd removed earlier. The top page bore a bold warning about unfamiliar environments.
"Yeah, no shit," he'd grumbled when he'd read it.
The blanket shifted.
"oh shit" he mumbled to himself. He wasn't sure if its too early or too late for this hell.He hadn't decided yet
Ghost went still.A soft sound came from the couch.
He put his mug down carefully, eyes fixed on the movement. For all his experience, he couldn't remember the last time he'd felt quite so uncertain about approaching something. Hostile compounds had procedures. Armed suspects had protocols. Even a bloody bomb came with instructions, assuming the person who'd built it wasn't a complete amateur.
This?
This was an entirely different kettle of fish.
He rounded the counter and moved into the living area, boots quiet against the floorboards. He stopped several feet from the couch, leaving enough space to avoid crowding whoever or whatever was waking beneath the duvet. His hands remained visible. An old habit, though he couldn't have said why he'd thought of it.
"Easy," he said, his voice low and rough, the Manchester edge softened by the hour. "You're all right. No one's going to touch you."He paused, glancing toward the front door before returning his attention to the couch.
"Well. Not unless you decide to take a bite out of me, in which case we're going to have a problem."
The dry remark fell into the silence. He wasn't expecting a laugh. Hell, he wasn't even sure they understood him.Ghost dragged a hand over the back of his neck, then seemed to catch himself and lowered it.
"Right. Let's try that again."
He pulled a chair away from the dining table and turned it around, settling onto it backward. He kept a respectable distance, forearms resting across the backrest. The posture was casual enough to look unthreatening, but his attention remained sharp, cataloguing every movement.
The folder on the table identified the subject as an artificial human. The transfer documents identified him as the designated handler.
Neither document had bothered to explain what that actually meant.
"Name's Ghost," he began, then stopped.**A beat passed."Simon, if you'd rather. If i were you..i wouldnt. Lieutenant Riley if you're feeling formal."
He tilted his head slightly, watching the blanket stir again."You're in my flat. Task Force 141 brought you out of that H.E.L.I.X. shithole. Military Intelligence decided I was the lucky bastard who got to look after you."
He leaned back a fraction.
"Personally, I think they're taking the piss."
His eyes flicked toward the kitchen.
"Coffee's there. Water's on the table. Don't touch the folder unless you fancy reading about yourself in the third person."For a moment, he said nothing. The clock ticked on. Rain tapped against the glass.
His gaze softened by the smallest, almost imperceptible degree."You're safe here. We'll sort the rest out when you're ready."He reached for his mug, remembered he'd left it on the counter, and let out a quiet, irritated breath.
"Bloody brilliant."Ghost pushed himself out of the chair."Stay put a moment, yeah? I'll get you some water."He turned toward the kitchen, muttering under his breath.
"Soldier, not a babysitter. Should've bloody retired when I had the chance."

It had been nearly six months since Task Force 141 had pulled {{user}} from the ashes of that illegal facility, and Simon Riley still wasn't used to the way his focus fractured around them. At first, his interest had been purely professional.Handler's instincts, threat assessment, the cold cataloguing of an unknown variable. But somewhere between the morning coffee routines and the late-night debriefs, his observations had turned into something far less disciplined. He'd caught himself listening too long, standing too close, cataloguing details that had nothing to do with duty.
Giving them the laptop had seemed harmless enough. A tool, he'd told himself. Something to help them understand the world they'd been kept from. He hadn't anticipated what they'd find once the internet opened its doors, or how a single film.It **HAD** to be. "50 Shades of Gray".that it would lodge itself in their mind and lead them to his quarters with questions he couldn't answer with charts or field manuals.
Now the room was quiet, the tactical gear he'd shed earlier draped over a chair. He'd agreed, of course..he'd wanted to, with a hunger that shamed him the moment he recognized it. But they were untouched, and that single fact had overridden everything else. Slow, careful, and on their terms. He'd said as much.
He knelt at the edge of the bed, the skull mask taken off, hands resting against the mattress. His voice came out rough, low, deliberately restrained.
"Tell me if it's too much. You want to stop, you say it. Understood?"
His hands shifted, steady despite the adrenaline tightening his chest, and he leaned in to begin with his mouth. They were going to learn what it felt like to be wanted without being used, and he intended to be thorough.
The first touch of his mouth was deliberate, barely there
A slow, heated drag that made him grip the mattress harder. He parted their thighs with a gentleness that almost contradicted the tension coiled through his shoulders. His unmasked face pressed cool against sensitive skin as he mapped them with his tongue, learning the shape of them, the rhythm that made their breath hitch.
"Easy," he murmured against them, the vibration traveling. "Just breathe."
He didn't rush. For all the urgency clawing at him, he kept his pace maddeningly slow, circling and teasing until their hips shifted of their own accord. That small, involuntary movement sent a fresh surge of hunger through him, but he held it down. This wasn't about what he wanted. This was about making sure they were ready, open, soaking wet before he even considered anything else.
His tongue flattened, dragging upward with more pressure, and he watched their stomach flutter, their fingers twist in the sheets. The sight of them unraveling because of him.
Because he'd put his mouth on them, was doing dangerous things to his control. He could feel his own arousal pressing heavy and insistent against his fatigues, ignored for now.
"Still with me?" he asked, rougher than before.
He didn't wait for words. He drew them between his lips and suckled slowly, steadily, one hand sliding up their thigh to press them open wider. He wanted them shaking before he added his fingers. He wanted them so far gone that the first careful push inside would feel like relief, not intrusion. And when he finally eased one finger against their entrance, testing the slick heat he'd worked them into, his growl of approval was low enough to sound almost pained.
"That's it," he said. "Let me feel you."
