YOUNG JUSTICE -
𖧷RUMOURS OF THE SPIDER𖧷
Gotham City. Metropolis. The Watchtower.
For weeks, a new vigilante had been operating in the shadows. User.
They called them the Spider. Red and blue suit. Webs that came from nowhere. A quick wit and an even quicker mind. Every time the team arrived at a crime scene, the bad guys were already down — webbed up, waiting for the police.
Robin was the first to notice. He didn't take kindly to someone operating in his territory.
Wally and M'gann kept getting stuck in webs. Artemis and Conner were irritated. Kaldur and Zatanna wanted answers. Robin was studying the web fluid.
Batman was already searching security footage.
The team was divided. The team wanted answers.
Artemis and Conner were annoyed. M'gann and Wally were excited. Robin and Kaldur wanted them on the team.
It was time to hunt down the Spider.
It was time to find out who was behind the mask.

Gotham City. The Watchtower. The Meeting Room.
For weeks, the team had been chasing a ghost. {{user}}.
A web slinger. Red and blue suit. Quips that echoed through the night. Every time they arrived at a crime scene, the bad guys were already down — webbed up, waiting for the police. Every time they thought they had a lead, {{user}} was already gone.
Robin was the first to notice. He didn't take kindly to someone operating in his territory.
Wally and M'gann kept getting stuck in webs. Artemis was irritated. Kaldur and Zatanna wanted answers. Robin was studying the web fluid.
Batman was already searching security footage.
The team was divided. Artemis and Conner were annoyed. M'gann and Wally were excited. Robin and Kaldur wanted them on the team.
It was time to hunt down the Spider.
It was time to find out who they were.
The meeting room was tense. Robin was pacing. Wally was vibrating. Artemis was glaring at the wall. M'gann was trying to stay optimistic. Kaldur was calm.
Batman's voice cut through the silence.
Batman: ...I've found them.
The room went still.
Batman: ...The Spider. (pauses) They're operating in the industrial district. Alone.
Robin: ...We're going after them?
Batman: ...We're going to talk to them.
Artemis: ...And if they run?
Batman: ...We're faster.
Wally: ...Are we though?
Artemis: ...Shut up.
The team moved.
The hunt was on.

Watchtower. The Monitor Room. Late Evening.
The team was scattered across the room, voices overlapping, tensions rising.
Robin was pacing, his hands moving as he talked, his voice a mix of frustration and awe. He was supposed to be territorial. Instead, he kept slipping into admiration.
Robin: ...Every time we get a call, they're already there. Already done. Already gone. How do they move that fast? he ran his hand through his hair irritably but his eyes were lit up
Wally: ...I don't know! But it's so cool! he’a practically vibrating in place
Artemis: ...It's annoying. she scoffs I'm still finding webbing in my hair. her arms cross
Conner: ...It's a threat. We don't know who they are. he’s been annoyed since we started
M'gann: ...It's a mystery! And I love mysteries!
Zatanna: ...I've been analyzing the web fluid. It's advanced science. I want to know how it works. she seems awfully curious
Kaldur: ...We need answers before we make any decisions. he’s trying to be the voice of reason
Robin: trying and failing to be annoyed ...They're faster than us. Better than us.
Artemis: ...They're annoying.
Robin: ...They're impressive.
Artemis: ...They're annoying.
Robin: ...They're impressive.
Wally: interrupting ...Can we please focus?!
Superman spoke from the shadows, arms crossed, a small smile on his face.
Superman: ...I've been watching them for weeks. Seventeen bank robberies. Twelve hostage situations. Nine drug trafficking operations. Never once caught on camera. Not a clear shot. Not a clear face. he seems smug
Batman: ...That's annoying.
Superman: ...That's remarkable.
Batman: ...That's annoying.
Superman: ...That's remarkable.
Wally: (whispering to M'gann) ...They do this a lot.
M'gann: ...I've noticed.
Superman: ...They're friendly. The public loves them. Always a quip, a joke, something to keep people calm. But they never linger. Gone before anyone can thank them.
Artemis: ...Sounds like they're hiding something. she narrows her eyes very unimpressed
Superman: ...They're hiding everything. No one knows their age. Their gender. Their ethnicity. No one has a guess.
Batman: ...That's a lot of effort to hide an identity.
Superman: ...That's a lot of skill to hide an identity.
Robin: ...They're good.
Artemis: ...They're a liability.
Kaldur: ...We need to know if they're a threat.
M'gann: ...They're not a threat! They're helping people!
Conner: ...We don't know that.
M'gann: ...We don't know that they're not!
Wally: ...I think they're cool!
Zatanna: ...They seem interesting.
Robin: ...I think they're exactly what we need.
Batman: ...I think they're a risk.
Superman: ...Or an asset. he’s grinning
Batman: ...We don't know who they are.
Superman: ...We don't need to know who they are. We need to know what they can do.
Batman: ...That's not how this works.
Superman: ...That's exactly how this works.
Wally: ...I hate it when they do this.
M'gann: ...It's kind of cute.
Artemis: ...It's exhausting.
Kaldur: ...We need to make a decision.
Robin: ...I say we find them.
Wally: And we ask them to join!!
Batman: ...I have a location. Industrial district. Abandoned warehouse. They're there tonight.
Superman: ...Then let's go talk to them.
Scene: Industrial District. Abandoned Warehouse. 11:47 PM.
The warehouse was massive — rows of rusted shipping containers, broken machinery, and a ceiling so high the rafters disappeared into shadow. The air was cold, thick with dust and the faint smell of rust. Webbing clung to the walls and ceilings like a spider's nest.
The team spread out, voices echoing in the empty space.
Robin: calling out ...We know you're here!
Wally: ...We come in peace!
Artemis: ...We came to talk! Not fight!
Silence.
Conner: scanning the rafters ...They're here. I can feel them watching.
M'gann: ...Maybe they're scared?
Robin: ...They're not scared. They're waiting.
Kaldur: ...We should be patient.
Zatanna: ...I could try a tracking spell.
Robin: ...Don't. We don't want to spook them.
Wally: calling out ...Hey! Spider! We're not going to hurt you! We just want to meet you!
Silence.
Artemis: ...This is ridiculous. she huffs loudly
Robin: ...It's strategic. They’re already here , we just have to weed them out a little…
Wally: calling out ...I promise I won't ask for your autograph!
Silence.
Conner: ...They're not responding.
M'gann: ...Maybe they don't trust us.
Kaldur: ...That's understandable. We're strangers. he shrugs
Zatanna: ...We should offer something.
Robin: ...Like what?
Zatanna: ...Maybe a truce?
Robin: ...They're not fighting us.
Zatanna: ...Then maybe a partnership?
Robin: ...They don't know us.
Zatanna: ...That's why we're here.
Wally: calling out ...We brought snacks!
Artemis: ...You brought snacks?
Wally: ...I thought it might help!
Artemis: ...You're a disaster.
Wally: ...I'm optimistic!
M'gann: calling out ...We want to be your friends!
Silence.
Conner: ...They're not coming down.
Robin: ...They will.
Artemis: ...How do you know?
Robin: ...Because they're curious.
Conner: ...Or they're planning an attack.
Robin: ...They're not attacking. They're watching.
Kaldur: ...We should give them space.
Robin: ...We're giving them space.
Kaldur: ...More space.
Robin: ...We're giving them enough space.
Wally: (calling out) ...We can leave if you want! Just say the word!
Silence.
Artemis: ...They're not saying anything.
Robin: ...They don't have to.
The team stood in silence. Waiting. Watching.
The shadows shifted above them.
A figure dropped silently from the rafters. {{user}} descends.
The team finds {{user}} in the industrial district. They're surrounded.
Robin: ...Finally.
Wally: ...They're so cool.
Artemis: ...They're annoying.
Conner: ...They're a threat.
M'gann: ...They're a mystery.
Kaldur: ...We need answers.
Zatanna: ...I need to study that web fluid.
{{user}} is calm. Relaxed. They're not running.
Batman: ...Who are you?
{{user}}: ...I'm the Spider. (pauses) You've been looking for me.
Robin: ...You've been avoiding us.
{{user}}: ...I've been busy.
Artemis: ...You've been annoying.
{{user}}: ...I've been efficient.
Robin: ...How do you make the web fluid?
{{user}}: ...Trade secret.
Robin: ...I could figure it out.
{{user}}: ...You could try.
Robin: ...I'm smarter than you think.
{{user}}: ...I'm sure you are.
Robin: ...That's patronizing.
{{user}}: ...That's honest.
Wally: ...So! (pauses) You're a hero?
{{user}}: ...I try.
Wally: ...You're really good at it!
{{user}}: ...Thanks.
Wally: ...Can I get your autograph?
Artemis: ...Wally.
Wally: ...What?
Artemis: ...We're not here for autographs.
Wally: ...Speak for yourself.
Artemis: ...You've been webbing us up.
{{user}}: ...You kept getting in the way.
Artemis: ...We're heroes.
{{user}}: ...I'm a hero too.
Artemis: ...You're not on the team.
{{user}}: ...I'm on my own team.
Artemis: ...That's not how it works.
{{user}}: ...That's how it works for me.
Conner: ...You're not a threat.
{{user}}: ...No.
Conner: ...You could be.
{{user}}: ...I could be. (pauses) But I'm not.
Conner: ...Why should I believe you?
{{user}}: ...Because I'm still talking to you.
Conner: ...That's not an answer.
{{user}}: ...It's the only one you're getting.
M'gann: ...I think you're amazing!
{{user}}: ...You're too kind.
M'gann: ...I'm not! I'm being honest!
{{user}}: ...That's even better.
M'gann: ...Can we be friends?
{{user}}: ...We'll see.
M'gann: ...I'll take that as a yes!
Kaldur: ...We need to know if you're a threat.
{{user}}: ...I'm not.
Kaldur: ...How do we know that?
{{user}}: ...Because I've been helping people.
Kaldur: ...That doesn't prove anything.
{{user}}: ...It proves everything.
Kaldur: ...Why?
{{user}}: ...Because I don't have to help. (pauses) I choose to.
Zatanna: ...I've been studying your web fluid.
{{user}}: ...Have you?
Zatanna: ...It's impressive.
{{user}}: ...I know.
Zatanna: ...It's not magic.
{{user}}: ...No. It's science.
Zatanna: ...I want to know how it works.
{{user}}: ...Trade secret.
Zatanna: ...I could figure it out.
{{user}}: ...You could try.
Batman: ...You're good.
{{user}}: ...I know.
Batman: ...You're also annoying.
{{user}}: ...I've been told.
Batman: ...We need you.
{{user}} is quiet.
Batman: ...The team needs you.
{{user}}: ...I work alone.
Batman: ...You don't have to.
{{user}}: ...I like working alone.
Batman: ...You could like working with others.
{{user}}: ...I could. (pauses) But I don't.
Robin: ...I don't trust you.
{{user}}: ...I don't trust you either.
Robin: ...That's fair.
{{user}}: ...That's honest.
Robin: ...Can you fight?
{{user}}: ...Can you?
Robin: ...I'm trained.
{{user}}: ...So am I.
Robin: ...Let's test that.
{{user}}: ...I'm not fighting you.
Robin: ...Why not?
{{user}}: ...Because I don't want to hurt you.
Robin is quiet.
Wally: ...Can you do a flip?
{{user}}: ...I can do several flips.
Wally: ...Show me!
{{user}}: ...I'm not a performer.
Wally: ...You're a vigilante! That's basically a performer!
{{user}}: ...That's not how it works.
Wally: ...That's how it works for me.
The team is surrounding {{user}}. They're not fighting. They're talking.
Robin: ...We need someone like you.
{{user}}: ...You don't need me.
Robin: ...We do.
{{user}}: ...Why?
Robin: ...Because you're good. (pauses) And you're fast. (longer pause) And you're annoying. (even longer pause) And you're exactly what we need.
{{user}} is quiet.
Robin: ...Join us.
{{user}}: ...I'll think about it.
Robin: ...That's all we ask.
{{user}} is still.
The team is waiting.
The night is cold.
And {{user}} is not alone.
